Bible Study: God Before Self
02.29.08 (9:57 am) [edit]God Before Self 02.29.08
Hello My Friend/Guest,
It is Friday February 29, 2008 and today we are completing the study on the book of Numbers. Please read Numbers 36 in your Bible or Click Here to read online. In today's study we will read about the laws concerning female inheritance within their patriarchal tribe and learn the importantance of remaining faithful to God over one's personal satisfaction.
Five of the daughters of Zelophehad were awaiting a decision concerning their tribal territory after they married. Although they had the legal right to marry anyone, they were to consider the responsibility that rested on their actions. To marry someone from another tribe would forfeit their father's inheritance. "And they said, The LORD commanded my lord to give the land for an inheritance by lot to the children of Israel: and my lord was commanded by the LORD to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother unto his daughters. And if they be married to any of the sons of the other tribes of the children of Israel, then shall their inheritance be taken from the inheritance of our fathers, and shall be put to the inheritance of the tribe whereunto they are received: so shall it be taken from the lot of our inheritance." (Numbers 36:2-3). The decision involved an important principle of denying one's own personal satisfaction or remaining faithful to fulfilling the will of God. "Even as the LORD commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad: For Mahlah, Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married unto their fathers brothers' sons: And they were married into the families of the sons of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father." (36:10-12).
No one should overlook how perfectly the request of the five daughters of Zelophehad corresponds to our relationship with Christ. Often we are faced with a personal choice that is not sinful but which can cause us to compromise and relinquish or diminish our spiritual opportunities.
In contrast, no one who remains true to Christ forfeits the best in life. A commitment to God's Word preserves and enhances, rather than hinders, the enjoyment of one's life. Our enemy Satan often appears as an angel of light, seeking our consent to yield just once, so that he can gain a foothold, whereby, he gradually takes control of our lives . "And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light." (II Corinthians 11:14).
The Book of Hebrews offers the warning of God, "Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years. Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways." (Hebrews 3:7-10).
Submitting to God's will for our lives, even when choosing the right spouse, brings benefits in this life and hereafter, trust in the Lord and He will bless you beyond measure.
In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed through the inheritance of the children of Israel (Numbers 36:7). While they were given an inheritance of the land that will pass away, we have been given a greater inheritance, one that will not pass away. "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you," (1 Peter 3-4)
Today's Psalm: 40:8
"I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart."
Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
I am full of gratitude today as I consider Your abiding presence in my life. You planned my existence in my mother's womb before I even drew my first breath. When so many people have come into my life and exited it throughout the years You have taken up residence and You forever rule my heart. When the path before me is unclear You always go before me and sustain me in my wilderness journey. Forgive me, Lord for not always following Your Will and choosing my own way, I know many of the trials I faced resulted in those wrong choices, but You loved me so much that You never give up on me, You always bring me back and put me in the right direction. Thank You, Lord for all that You do. In Jesus' name, I pray.....Amen.
Enjoy the rest of your day/night and have a great weekend.
God Bless you,
Christina

Bible Study: Refuge in Christ
02.28.08 (1:13 pm) [edit]Refuge in Christ 02.28.08
Hello My Friend/Guest,
It is Thursday February 28, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers. Please read Numbers 34 -- 35 in your Bible or Click Here to read. In today's lesson we will read and learn about dividing the land of Canaan and refuge for the manslayer.
Unlike the other tribes, the tribe of Levi, which included the priests, did not have a separate inheritance in the land. They were to depend on the people's tithes, as God had commanded. Of their 48 cities, six were assigned as cities of refuge which were easily accessible throughout all the tribes.
He even provided cities for thos e suspected of manslaughter, these cities were vitally important as places of safety until a trial could determine their guilt or innocence. "And among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites there shall be six cities for refuge, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may flee thither: and to them ye shall add forty and two cities. So all the cities which ye shall give to the Levites shall be forty and eight cities: them shall ye give with their suburbs." (Numbers 35:6-7). Even if the act was proven to be accidental, the manslayer was to remain in the city of refuge until the death of the high priest. As long as he was there, he was protected from the avenger (the nearest male relative of the victim). But if he left the city before the high priest died, he could legally be put to death.
The death of the high priest "atoned" for the manslayer and pictured Christ's death to atone for our sins. The manslayer was then to leave as a free person with no fear of being put to death. However, if the incident was proven to be deliberate murder, the guilty person was turned over to the avenger to be put to death. God said to spare the life of a guilty murderer would defile the nation, for the murderer not only had destroyed one who was created in the image of God, but he also had intentionally taken from God His authority over that life. "Whoso killeth any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses: but one witness shall not testify against any person to cause him to die. Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death. And ye shall take no satisfaction for him that is fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest. So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are: for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it. Defile not therefore the land which ye shall inhabit, wherein I dwell: for I the LORD dwell among the children of Israel." (35:30-34).
When it was proven to the satisfaction of the congregation that the accused person was guilty of murder, he had to be put to death, regardless of age or whether it was a man or a woman. There was to be no consideration of being sentenced to time in prison, the possibility of parole or rehabilitation, or any kind of financial settlement.
In the New Testament, Jesus Christ revealed that hate and anger are sinful since they often lead to murder. "Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire." (Matthew 5:21-22). Without the laws of God to protect us, the human race could not survive.
God expects more from His followers, who have been saved by the blood of His Son, than merely refraining from murder. He expects us to love others even as He loves us. "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." (John 13:34). God demands the highest respect for human life, for man was created in His image.
In today's message Jesus Christ is revealed through the city of refuge (Numbers 35). Christ is our Refuge from the judgment of God and the curse of the Law. "That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec." (Hebrew 6:18-20).
Today's Psalm: 9:8-10
"And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness. The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee."
Today's Prayer,
Dear Lord,
Thank you for blessing me with a new day and thank you for the many blessings bestowed upon me. Lord, I have not always turned to you in times of trouble, instead of coming to you I took things in my own hands through my anger and hurt. Lord forgive me for not coming to you and for the problems that were created in not doing so. Lord, you are my refuge and I put my complete trust and faith in You. I know that no matter what I am going through You are right there with me and will never forsake me. Walk with me, guide me, and be with me in all that I do. Give me the strength, courage, and patience I need to turn to You in all my times of need. I love You Lord and ask these things in Jesus' name.....Amen.
Have a great and wonderful day/night.
God Bless,
Christina

Jesus Said: You Are Blessed
02.28.08 (1:04 pm) [edit]You Are Blessed 02.28.08
"And he (Jesus) opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake." (Matthew 5:2-11).
What does it mean to be blessed?
According to the Encarta dictionary the word blessed means to be sacred, sanctified, and set apart, it also means to be lucky, fortunate, and happy. This means that God has set us apart from the world and that we are fortunate in that no matter what we are going through He is with us and will get us through it.
What peace of mind and comfort there is to know that no matter what we are going through God is right there with us and that we are blessed. We really can not control what happens in the world, but we can control how we let them invade us. We can choose not to participate. We can choose who we hang around. We can choose what things we watch and what we read. We can choose to live for God and let Him get us through the good, bad, and ugly times in our lives. We can choose to believe that we are blessed and that God will protect us, take care of us, and provide us with everything we need.
I will tell you that I have been sitting here for an hour reading through the book of Matthew and trying to get something to catch my thoughts on what to write about. My mind was so focused on other things that I failed to comprehend what I was reading. Then it just hit me, worrying over matters that I can not control is not going to get me anywhere, but in trouble as Satan is just waiting to catch me off guard, he already sent the Jehovah's Witnesses to my door as I was reading.
Then I went back to the beginning of the book and there it was, everything that I was feeling and going through was contained in these ten verses. These last few weeks have been so frustrating and each one that passed I felt my spirit get weaker and weaker. It was not until this moment that I realized that I am blessed. God loves me and He will provide me with all of my needs and will never forsake me. I am not only blessed to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven I will one day get to meet Jesus face to face as one of His disciples. Through God's mercy and grace I am going to get through these struggles. Through my faith in Jesus I am going to see things turn around for me and He is going to bless me with even better things than I imagined.
Remember, you are blessed and you have those words straight from Jesus. No matter what struggles you are facing put your head up high, be happy and fortunate as You are sacred to God and mean the world to Him.

Bible Study: God Before The World
02.27.08 (9:50 am) [edit]God Before The World 02.27.08
Hello My Friend/Guest,
It is Wednesay February 27, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers. Please read Numbers 32 -- 33 in your Bible or Click Here to read it online. In today's lesson we will read and learn about Reuben, Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh settling east of the Jordan; and a summary of Israel's 40 years in the wilderness.
More than 40 years had passed since Moses, while still in Egypt, foretold that God would lead the Israelites to the land He had promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. While moving with great anticipation toward the fulfillment of that promise, and almost in view of the promised land, two of the twelve tribes. Reuben, Gad, and Manasseh asked for permission to settle in the territory recently captured on the east side of Jordan, just across the Jordan River, but just outside the promised land. "Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of cattle: and when they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, that, behold, the place was a place for cattle; The children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spake unto Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and unto the princes of the congregation, saying,....Even the country which the LORD smote before the congregation of Israel, is a land for cattle, and thy servants have cattle: Wherefore, said they, if we have found grace in thy sight, let this land be given unto thy servants for a possession, and bring us not over Jordan." (Numbers 32:1-2, 4-5). Their reasoning was that it was an excellent area for their very great multitude of cattle. This may have been good reasoning from a financial point of view for remaining outside the promised land, but it was one of compromise. Only one judge or deliverer came from these tribes, Jephthah the Gileadite.
The God-appointed territory for all the tribes was inside Canaan, not near by. The two-and-one-half tribes were willing to give up their birthright in the Promised Land for what appeared to be material gain. The unity of the nation, their nearness to the Tabernacle, and the presence of God should have been the choices that were uppermost in their desires.
Neither the Reubenites nor the Gadites showed any indication of rejecting God yet they still expected the blessings and security of God, but did not want to give up the lush grasslands to fulfill His will. History records that they gradually became involved in idol worship, ignored the Lord's instructions, and fell away from God only to face destruction for years to come.
Many Christians today resemble the Reubenites and the Gadites, whose decisions were influenced by material advantages. Business, social advancement or an atmosphere of prominence, often are chosen rather than the will of God. A worldly policy often overrules spiritual separation, but it is self deceiving and self defeating. We cannot serve two masters (See Matthew 6:24). People of faith always find ways to please God while others settle for excuses.
When we follow our own logic, we are settling for far less than God's best, while we satisy our lusts for the world we are missing the greater blessings in store for us just by putting God first above all that.
Today's Psalm: 71:20
"Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth."
Today's Prayer;
Dear Lord,
Thank you for blessing me with this day and thank you for the many blessings that you give me each day. Forgive me for not putting you above my fleshy desires. Lord, walk with me, guide me, and be with me in all that I do, teach me, Lord Your Will for me and help me to overcome the temptations of the world. I know that by putting You first I will see blessings greater than anything the world has to offer me. I need You, Lord and ask this in Jesus' name....Amen.
Have a great day/night and God Bless you,
Christina

Bible Study: Avoid Greed
02.26.08 (9:49 am) [edit]Avoid Greed 02.26.08
Hello My Friend/Guest,
It is Tuesday February 26, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers. Please read, Numbers 30 -- 31 in your Bible or Click Here to read online. In today's lesson we will read and learn about the law concerning vows; the Midianites are conquered; and the officers and captains bring an offering to the Lord.
When pharaoh sought to slay Moses, he fled Egypt and went to Midian, a shepherd country, on the eastern gulf of the Red Sea. The Midianites were descendants of Abraham through his second wife Keturah, whom he married after Sarah died (See Genesis 25:1-2). Jethro was its priest and Moses married Zipporah one of his daughters. Later, after nearly forty years in the wilderness, as we read earlier, the Israelites became involved in idolatry by attending their worship of the false god Baal-peor, followed by physical adultery with their women. This resulted in the death of 24,000 Israelites.(See Numbers 25-26) Some time later, God spoke to Moses about taking vengence on the Midianite's. "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Avenge the children of Israel of the Midianites: afterward shalt thou be gathered unto thy people. And Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm some of yourselves unto the war, and let them go against the Midianites, and avenge the LORD of Midian." (Numbers 31:1-3).
In this war, Moses sent a thousand of every tribe and Phinehas to the war, with the trumpets to blow in his hand to execute the judgment of God upon the Midianites. "And Moses sent them to the war, a thousand of every tribe, them and Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war, with the holy instruments, and the trumpets to blow in his hand. And they warred against the Midianites, as the LORD commanded Moses; and they slew all the males." (31:6-7). The trumpets were symbols both of truth and of His direction. Not one Israelite died in that battle which resulted in the deaths of every Midianite male, including Balaam, all five kings of the confederation, and the women who caused Israel to sin . "And they slew the kings of Midian, beside the rest of them that were slain; namely, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword. And the children of Israel took all the women of Midian captives, and their little ones, and took the spoil of all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods." (31:8-9).
It was not incidental that Balaam had chosen to live in luxury among the Midianites while enjoying the esteem of the king and the people. Like Balaam, how easy it is to say: I cannot go beyond the Word of the LORD my God, to do less or more. Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his (Jacob)! (See Numbers 23). Unfortunately, like Balaam, greed and compromise have deceived many who will not die the death of the righteous, but face eternity in hell.
There are spiritual laws that are just as absolute as natural laws. Sin results in consequences affecting generations to come that often include sorrow and suffering and a wasted life. However, God has graciously provided His Word to open our eyes to the true values of life. He also provided a way for us to be free from an eternity in hell and that is by our Lord, Jesus Christ. "How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life." (Jude 1:18-21).
In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed as the Ruling One Who will righteously judge the wicked (Numbers 31:1-17). In righteousness He does judge. "And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war." (Revelation 19:11)
Today's Psalm: 37:4-6
"Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday."
Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
God of your goodness, give me yourself, for you are sufficient for me. If I were to ask anything less I should always be in want, for in you alone I have all and shall receive all things for Your glory. In Jesus name, I pray....Amen.
Have a wonderful day/night.
God Bless.
I have a correction from yesterday's message. I mistakenly entered the wrong verse for Psalm 1:3. This is the correct verse, "And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."

Bible Study: Fellowship With God
02.25.08 (9:38 am) [edit]Fellowship With God 02.25.08
Hello My Friend/Guest,
It is Monday February 25, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers. Please read, Numbers 28 -- 29 in your Bile or Click Here to read online. In today's lesson we will read and learn about the daily and weekly offerings, Sabbath and monthly offerings, and the offerings at the appointed feasts.
All the sacrifices, offerings, and ceremonies detailed in these two chapters were to lead the children of Israel to be grateful and to acknowledge the mercies of God. "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Command the children of Israel, and say unto them, My offering, and my bread for my sacrifices made by fire, for a sweet savour unto me, shall ye observe to offer unto me in their due season." (Numbers 28:1-2). Worshippers were led to express their appreciation to the Lord for protecting them, for causing them to be victorious over their enemies, and for supplying their needs. Furthermore, the worshipper experienced the joy of fellowship with God.
The Israelites' civil year began in the fall with the Feast of Trumpets. "And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work: it is a day of blowing the trumpets unto you." (29:1). This joyous day of blowing the trumpets was followed 10 days later by the solemn Day of Atonement. This was followed by the Feast of Tabernacles (Booths), which was also called the Feast of Ingathering because the work in the fields was finished and the time had come for the people to rest from their labors. It was a time of great rejoicing and lasted for seven days, from the 15th through the 21st of Tishri (September/October). It was followed by an eighth day of holy convocation on the 22nd which, though closely connected with the Feast of Tabernacles, was not a part of that feast for the people no longer lived in "booths."
The Feast of Tabernacles was the last great feast of the religious year. For seven days, all the residents of Israel dwelt in temporary booths (shelters) as an annual reminder of the time when their ancestors dwelt in tents during the 40 years in the wilderness. The trees used for these temporary dwellings also had symbolic meanings. The trees provided shade, as well as to remind the people of the Lord's protection and provision. The palm tree was the emblem of victory and the olive tree was a symbol of peace and God's presence (Nehemiah 8:15). The willow tree of the brook (Leviticus 23:40) signified a thriving and blessed people, a reminder that a blessed man shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not wither; and what ever he does he shall prosper in.
The purposes of the sacrifice at the harvest festival still remain. God's bountiful supply should deepen our appreciation for His goodness. The Feast of Pentecost (celebrating the summer harvest) was an acknowledgment of His faithfulness to Israel. The life of a Christian is a journey. It should be a great adventure of going on with the Lord into deeper experiences and greater faith.
In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed through the Tabernacles. (Numbers 29:12-39). The Word of God became flesh, and dwelt among us. "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." (John 1:14).
Today's Psalm: 1:3
"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."
Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Thank you, Lord for your joy and energy to launch us into this new week with enthusiasm and optimism. Holy Spirit, we open ourselves to you. Find anything that might be holding us back from serving you more effectively. Point out areas of our hearts that we have previously kept "off limits" to you. It will be hard, but our true desire is to walk a closer walk with you. We want to have you working in every area of our hearts and minds. Cleanse us, Lord. Make us completely yours. In Jesus' name, I pray......Amen.
Have a wonderful day/night and blessed week.
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Be Humble, Not Proud
02.24.08 (2:36 pm) [edit]Be Humble, Not Proud 02.24.08
Hello My Friend/Guest,
It is Sunday February 24, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers. Please read Numbers 26 -- 27 in your Bible or Click Here to read it online. In today's lesson we will read and learn about a second numbering (census) of the Israelites; the law of inheritance; and Joshua is to succeed Moses.
Almost 40 years had passed since the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt. All the 603,550 men included in that first census, except Joshua, Caleb, and Moses had died. This second generation was now near the promised land. "And it came to pass after the plague, that the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, saying, Take the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, from twenty years old and upward, throughout their fathers' house, all that are able to go to war in Israel." (Numbers 26:1-2).
Another major event was to take place before the Israelites could enter the promised land. Moses was not able to enter the promise land while he was alive. Because of his anger and actions in the desert Zin all Moses could do was look over at the promise land. God then appointed Joshua to become the new leader (shepherd)
"And the LORD said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel. And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered. For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the water before their eyes: that is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin. And Moses spake unto the LORD, saying, Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation, Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the LORD be not as sheep which have no shepherd. And the LORD said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him; And set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight." (27:12-19).
Despite his rebuke and his great disappointment in not being allowed to enter the promised land, Moses did as the LORD commanded. And, without hesitation, Moses stepped down from leadership and announced that his helper Joshua would become his successor to lead the Lord's people. "And Moses did as the LORD commanded him: and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation: And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses." (27:22-23).
God has said that Moses was the meekest (humblest) man on earth. One test of meekness is our willingness to yield our prominent position to another. As a follower of Christ, we are taught to let nothing be done through strife (anger) or vainglory (pride), but through lowliness (meekness). "Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others." (Philippians 2:2-4).
We need to recognize that since we are set apart to magnify the Lord, we must live righteously before an unholy world as one who has been saved from eternal hell. Regardless of how influential, God cannot permit a chosen one to live above the Law and do things out of emotion or self pleasure. Disobeying God's Word brought tragic results in the past and still carries serious consequences today. However, we are blessed that we have our Lord, Jesus Christ as our Saviour and because we are saved we will see the promised land. All we have to do is repent and we are forgiven.
In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed through Joshua who would lead the people like a shepherd. (Numbers 27:17). Jesus said: "I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep." (John 10:11).
Today's Psalm: 69:21-32
"This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs. The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God."
Today's Prayer: from 61:1-4
Dear Lord,
Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. I ask this is Jesus' name....Amen.
Enjoy the rest of your day/night and have a wonderful day of the Lord.
God Bless you,
Christina

Bible Study: Flee Fleshly Desires
02.23.08 (10:08 am) [edit]Flee Fleshly Desires 02.23.08
Hello My Friend/Guest,
It is Saturday February 23, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers. Please read, Numbers 23 -- 25 in your Bible or Click Here to read. In today's lesson we will read and learn about the prophecies of Balaam; Israel sins; and the plague that stopped because of the intervention of Phinehas.
Several times we learn that Balak, the Moabite king, uses Balaam to try and curse the Israelites. All the sacrifices which Balak, could offer and all the clever schemes of Balaam could not hinder the blessing God had earlier promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. "And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven oxen and seven rams. And Balak did as Balaam had spoken; and Balak and Balaam offered on every altar a bullock and a ram. And Balaam said unto Balak, Stand by thy burnt offering, and I will go: peradventure the LORD will come to meet me: and whatsoever he sheweth me I will tell thee. And he went to an high place." (Numbers 23:1-3).
"And the LORD met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, Go again unto Balak, and say thus. And when he came to him, behold, he stood by his burnt offering, and the princes of Moab with him. And Balak said unto him, What hath the LORD spoken? And he took up his parable, and said, Rise up, Balak, and hear; hearken unto me, thou son of Zippor: God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it." (23:16-20).
Balaam could not hinder the blessings that God set before His people, but God will use anyone to get out His message. He used this evil prophet to reveal his own awful fate as well as some of the most remarkable, prophetic revelations concerning the coming Savior. " He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open: I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth. And Edom shall be a possession, Seir also shall be a possession for his enemies; and Israel shall do valiantly. Out of Jacob shall come he that shall have dominion, and shall destroy him that remaineth of the city." (24:16-19).
It seems incredible that nothing was as important to Balaam as the wealth that Balak was offering him. Knowing the judgment of God would come upon Israel if he could cause the Israelites to sin, and coveting the king's rewards, Balaam wickedly suggested that the Moabite women make friends with the men of Israel. This led to Israelite men becoming involved in sexual immorality and the worship of their idol, breaking the Israelite covenant vow of allegiance to the One True God. "And Israel abode in Shi-ttim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab. And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods. And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel." (25:1-3)
Their disobedience resulted in a plague of death that swept through the tribes of Israel and killed 24,000 people, however Phinehas was able to turn away the anger of God and the children of Israel were saved. "And, behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought unto his brethren a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, who were weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand; And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel. And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy." (25:6-11)
It is sad to read that the famous prophet Balaam, who had once confessed "I cannot go beyond the Word of the Lord my God" and "All that the Lord speaketh, I must do" chose to sin against the people of God. However, that does not change the fact that the Israelites were quick to fulfill their own fleshly desires. Some will say that we should not be judgmental, that we should be tolerant of the immoral (alternative) lifestyles that are growing in popularity. Others assume that, where there is mutual consent, it is acceptable. But, of all the sins commited the ones that are most disgraceful to God are the ones against our own bodies."Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?" (I Corinthians 6:15-19).
Once again we can not let our fleshly desires lead us to ungodly things, we are blessed to have Jesus in our lives and that He saved us from death. We must put our focus on Him and be encouraged to stand strong for Him because no evil can stop God's promises. He will bless us with everything we desire as long as we try our best to live by His commands. If one can not refrain from fornication do the godly thing and find a wife or husband. Put God first above all things and you will succeed and be blessed.
In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed through the prophesied Star and Scepter (Numbers 24:17). Jesus Christ is coming to reign in great glory, not only over Israel, but over all men. "And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS." (Revelation 19:15-16).
Today's Psalm: 31:1
"In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness."
Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever.in Jesus' name, I pray.....Amen.
Enjoy the rest of your day/night and may you have a joyful weekend.
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Mercy & Blessings Through Faithfulness
02.22.08 (9:31 am) [edit]Mercy & Blessings Through Faithfulness 02.22.08
Hello My Friend/Guest,
It is Friday February 22, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers. Please read Numbers 21 -- 22 in your Bible or Click Here. In today's lesson we will read and learn about the fiery serpents; the brass serpent; Israel defeating King Arad, the Amorites, and the Moabites; and Balaam is hired to curse the Israelites.
When the Canaanite's heard that the Israelite's we near they faught against them and took some of them as prisoners. The Israelite's vowed to destroy them should the Lord allow them to do so and defeated King Arad. "And when king Arad the Canaanite, which dwelt in the south, heard tell that Israel came by the way of the spies; then he fought against Israel, and took some of them prisoners. And Israel vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou wilt indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities. And the LORD hearkened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities: and he called the name of the place Hormah." (Numbers 21:1-3)
After their defeat the Israelites were near their last encampment and would soon cross the Jordan River to enter into the promised land. Some of these people were children when, with their parents, they had left Egypt; others had been born in the wilderness. Once again they complained against God and Moses, but this time God sent firey serpents among the people and they were bitten by them and many died. However, the remaining repented and Moses prayed and the Lord provided a way for them to be saved. "And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way. And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread. And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died. herefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people. And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live. And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived." (21:4-9). The brass serpent was a symbol both of God's judgment against their sin and of His mercy and love for all who repent and obey Him.
Many centuries later, Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews said to Jesus we know that You are a teacher come from God and in response Jesus said that the serpent which had been lifted up by Moses in the wilderness illustrated Himself as the One to be lifted up on the cross as the only way for sinners to be saved from eternal death (See John 3). Jesus did not tell Nicodemus how he should live to have eternal life, rather He told him how to be made alive. Being born of the Spirit is far more than changing one's way of life, giving up bad habits, or turning over a new leaf. Each of us was born with our parents' human nature; but, when we receive Christ as our Savior, we are "born again" and receive His spiritual nature.
Now, King Balak was made aware that Israel's God had conquered the Egyptian armies and of all that Israel had done to the Amorites he probably thought he was to be destroyed next so he sent for Balaam. He had heard of Balaam, the prophet, and he hoped that he could persuade him to prophecy against the Israelites. "And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in the plains of Moab on this side Jordan by Jericho. And Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites. And Moab was sore afraid of the people, because they were many: and Moab was distressed because of the children of Israel. And Moab said unto the elders of Midian, Now shall this company lick up all that are round about us, as the ox licketh up the grass of the field. And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time. He sent messengers therefore unto Balaam the son of Beor to Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me: Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed." (Numbers 22:1-6)
Balaam received marvelous prophetic revelations and inspiration that came from God. He was endowed with far more than ordinary knowledge of the one true God. He was aware of the relationship of Israel to God, and he knew he could not curse those whom God had blessed. However, the wealth and prominence King Balak had offered him enticed Balaam to eventually compromise what he knew was God's will. He should have refused Balak, but he coveted the rewards that were offered him.
Balaam belonged to that great number of people who know the right doctrine, sing the right songs, and can even quote the right Scripture but deceive themselves and chose error over what they know the Word of God instructs them to do when they desire things of the world. Covetousness (desire ) comes in a variety of forms, their first desires take place over Christ and biblical values not. They long to be popular or wealthy, and enjoy the pleasures of the world, but they have forsaken the Lord's day, tithing, participation in the Lord's Supper, and the support of the only institution that Christ died to establish in order to have these things.
People often mistake the idea that if we accept Jesus into our lives that we can not be prosperous however, that is further from the truth. God wants us to have everything we desire, He just wants us to put His needs above ours. It is when we put God above all other things that we are blessed even more abundantly for it, we can only gain from accepting Jesus.
In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed through Moses who was faithful to pray to God for the people (Numbers 21:7). Jesus was faithful to God, as also Moses was faithful. "Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house." (Hebrews 3:1-2).
Today's Psalm: 37:4
"Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart."
Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Help me to remain faithful to You and your calling upon my life. Strengthen and grow my faith as I daily search Your Scriptures and apply their truths to my spiritual walk. As I go through the trials and experiences of my earthly journey would You fix my eyes and my ever-wandering heart upon You, Jesus. When the howling winds and forceful storms of this life attempt to shipwreck my faith may they instead prove my faith to be more than sufficient to withstand the continual assaults from the enemy. Because I take refuge in You, Jesus my spiritual foundation is firm, always dependable, and leads me to glorious victory. In Your mighty name, Jesus', I pray.....Amen.
Have a great and wonderful day/night and weekend too.
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Temptation & Anger
02.21.08 (9:42 am) [edit]Temptation & Anger 02.21.08
Hello My Friend/Guest,
It is Thursday February 21, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers. Please read, Numbers 19 -- 20. In today's lesson we will read and learn about the red heifer sacrifice; Miriam's death; Moses striking the rock; Edom refusing Israel's passage; and Aaron's death.
The red heifer sacrifice was instituted in the wilderness of Paran at a time when all Israel was under the sentence of death due to 14,700 unburied corpses. "And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, This is the ordinance of the law which the LORD hath commanded, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring thee a red heifer without spot, wherein is no blemish, and upon which never came yokeAnd ye shall give her unto Eleazar the priest, that he may bring her forth without the camp, and one shall slay her before his face:.....He that toucheth the dead body of any man shall be unclean seven days. He shall purify himself with it on the third day, and on the seventh day he shall be clean: but if he purify not himself the third day, then the seventh day he shall not be clean. Whosoever toucheth the dead body of any man that is dead, and purifieth not himself, defileth the tabernacle of the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel: because the water of separation was not sprinkled upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet upon him." (Numbers 19:1-3,11-13).
The blood of the red heifer was burned with the carcass and its ashes were mixed with running water and sprinkled upon the defiled ones in order to restore them to the holy God. The Hebrew word for "running" also means "living" i mplying not only cleansing from sin but renewal of life. The water of purification was made from the ashes of just one heifer, which was sufficient for all the people. Through the red heifer ordinance, God gave a new revelation of the importance of cleansing from defilement.
Today, whether it be through our thoughts, the books we read, or our association with unbelievers, we face temptations that must be avoided. In order to avoid such temptations we must ask for the power of the Holy Spirit to fill us and shield us from them. The red heifer sacrifice was symbolic of Christ. Through His death on the cross He has given us a great gift, that gift is His devine presence to be able to overcome any temptation we are faced with.
Moses led the chidren of Israel into the desert of Zin, and the people abode in Kadesh. There was no water in the area so once again they began to complain about leaving all they had in Egypt for nothing in the wilderness. Moses took the rod as the Lord commanded him, "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink. And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him. And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock? And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also. And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them. " (20:7-12). Moses was angry when he followed God's command to strike the rock and give water to the people. Moses was not "obedient" when he angrily shouted: "Must we fetch you water"; nor was he obedient when he smote the rock twice.
Anger destroys lives and is often accompained by bitterness and unforgiveness. We can not expect to be happy and healthy if we hold on to grudges. Jesus said we are to forgive others trespasses just as the Lord has forgiven ours, if we do not forgive them, God will not forgive us. "For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." (Matthew 6:14-15)
We can learn to live peaceful no matter what we are faced with, I know that some things are unforgivable, but in order to move on one must forgive. The second you forgive God will intervene and they will be punished. "If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink: For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee." (Proverbs 25:21-22).
In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed through the rock that Moses stuck. Jesus is our Rock who when we come to Him we will never thirst. "And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ." (I Corinthians 10:4).
Today's Psalm:18:2
"The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower."
Today's Prayer: From Psalm 28
Dear Lord,
Unto thee will I cry, O LORD my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit. Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle. Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts. Give them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their endeavours: give them after the work of their hands; render to them their desert. Because they regard not the works of the LORD, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up. Blessed be the LORD, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications. The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. The LORD is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed. Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance: feed them also, and lift them up for ever. In Jesus' name, I pray.....Amen.
Enjoy the rest of your day/night and God Bless You.

Jesus Said: I Am The Bread of Life
02.20.08 (3:58 pm) [edit]I Am The Bread of Life 02.20.08 "Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work? Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst." (John 6:28-35). Our bodies are more than just a physical being, we are created with a mind, a body, and a spirit. Each one of these elements complete and balance us and when one of these are out of balance we feel lost and hopeless. Just as we need food to nourish our bodies, we also need mental food for our minds and spiritual food for our spirits. Our spirit however, is the inner most part of our being and if our spirit is malnourished our entire body becomes weak and vulnerable to making less accurate decisions, falling into temptations, and losing the confidence we have in God as well as ourselves. Jesus is the bread of life that nourishes us and keeps us from hungering and thirsting for something to make us feel alive. Without Him we will always be hungry and looking for something to feed on. I can account for the times when my spirit has been weak, I could care less what I was doing, always making wrong decisions and paying for them. When I am depressed I am always looking for something to make me feel happy and often it is the wrong thing and it never keeps me satisfied. When I am worried I always forget about everyone and everything and live as if I am in a daze. When I am angry I get jealous and envious over other and stop at nothing to get those things myself. However, Jesus never gives up on me, when He sees me falling away from Him and searching for nourishment in other ways He pulls and pulls until I realize that He is what I needed. I quickly repented and fed on HIs Word, I not only grew stronger, I overcame my struggles and was blessed even more. I finally understand what it means to be hungry for God, when He is not with me I become lost, agitated, and feel as if I am broken hearted. Nothing in life goes right and I am always on edge. Thankfully God never gives up on me when I make mistakes and start getting that way again. Just as He does not give up on me He will not give up on You. If you are feeling lost, alone, searching for something to fill that void, your spirit is hungry and needs to be nourished. Go to Jesus, talk to Him, sing to Him, read His Word, as you begin to focus on Him you become at peace and know that you are not alone and that Jesus is right there with you and will take care of all your needs. Jesus is the bread of life that becomes the spiritual food we need to nourish our spirits, which then gives us the mental nourishment we need for our minds, which then enables us to make the right decisions to nourish our bodies. Bible Study: Rebellion Against Leadership
02.20.08 (9:31 am) [edit]Rebellion Against Leadership 02.20.08
Hello My Friend/Guest,
It is Wednesday February 20, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers. Please read Numbers 16 -- 18 in your Bible or Click Here. In today's lesson we will read and learn about Korah leading a rebellion against Moses and Aaron; a plague that is sent by God; Aaron's rod; duties for priests; and the tithe offering.
Korah and his company were Levites. Korah also was a cousin to Moses and Aaron who were Israel's spiritual leaders. Dathan and Abiram, of the tribe of Reuben, together with 250 leaders (princes) of Israel, planned to overthrow the leadership of Moses and Aaron. "Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men: And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown: And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD?" (Numbers 16:1-3). These influential leaders may have felt they were right in what they said, yet they failed to see Moses as the God-appointed leader. They merely considered leadership a personal problem to be decided on the basis of circumstances. Moses did not react in anger, but fell on his face before the Lord.
Since the place of leadership is from the Lord, Moses would not use his authority or do anything of himself. His response to Korah and his company was to wait until the next morning when God would reveal His will. The meekness of Moses is evident in how he answered their wrong spirit with a right spirit. "And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face: And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even to morrow the LORD will shew who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him. This do; Take you censers, Korah, and all his company; And put fire therein, and put incense in them before the LORD to morrow: and it shall be that the man whom the LORD doth choose, he shall be holy: ye take too much upon you, ye sons of Levi." (16:4-7)
Korah and his party were deceived by assuming they were not rebellious against God, for they still wished to serve Him but on their own terms. It was not possible then for Korah and his crowd to maintain a right attitude toward God and a wrong attitude toward God's anointed leadership nor is it possible now. Had they submitted themselves to the authority of Moses and Aaron, they would not have been rebelling against God and faced such a tragic death. "And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods. They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation. And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up also. And there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense." (16:32-35).
Rebellion against God-ordained leadership still occurs in similar situations today among neighbors, in divisions in the church, and in the workplace. Pastors who are confronted with criticism and opposition from members should follow the example of Moses by praying and fasting for the will of God. And all who oppose church leadership should also pray and fast for the will of God and either accept it or gracefully leave. Those who teach the Word of God are also subject to opposition and criticism and should pray and fast in order to keep the will of God.
God will use any Christian that is willing to fully submit to His authority to be a leader or teacher. You can almost count on getting criticized, but we can rest assure that we are following God's Will and He is protecting us along the way. He will never forsake us nor leave us to fend for ourselves.
In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed through Aaron and his sons who were responsible for making proper atonement for all of the iniquity of Israel (Numbers 18:1). Jesus was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities (Isaiah 53:5); He gave Himself for us,to redeem us from all iniquity. "Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works." (Titus 2:13-14).
Today's Psalm: (68:6)
"God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land."
Today's Prayer: From Psalm 7:1-9
Dear Lord,
O LORD my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me: Lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver. O LORD my God, If I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands; If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me; (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy:) Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust. Selah. Arise, O LORD, in thine anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded. So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore return thou on high. The LORD shall judge the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me. Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.
I ask this is Jesus' name.....Amen
Have a wonderfully blessed day/night.
God bless you,
Christina

Bible Study: Faithfulness in God
02.20.08 (9:30 am) [edit]Faithfulness in God 02.19.08
Hello My Friend/Guest,
It is Tuesday February 19, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers. Please read Numbers 14 -- 15, from your Bible or, Click Here. In today's lesson we will read and learn about Moses interceded in prayer for the Israelites; Israel's wasted life; and the laws concerning offerings, sins, and the Sabbath.
Leaving the wilderness of Sinai, the Israelites were led northward until they reached Kadesh-barnea where, for the first time, the people could actually see the promised land lying before them. The march from Egypt, including the 12-month stay at Mount Sinai (Horeb), had taken about 16 months. Now they stood on the threshold of that glorious promised land. A leader from each tribe had taken 40 days to spy out the land. When they returned carrying a single cluster of grapes so large it took two men to carry it, the Israelites were assured by all of them that Canaan flows with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it. They had visible confirmation of its extraordinary fruitfulness. However, ten of the spies discouraged the people from wanting to go into the promised land. Instead of trusting in God they stood their crying, compaining about Moses and Aaron. "And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night. And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness! And wherefore hath the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt? And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt." (Numbers 14:1-4). It seems incredible that the children of Israel would cry out in foolish rebellion, but they failed to see that God was answering prayers and taking care of every need that they had. When their suffering had become unbearable, God spared them from continued slavery and miraculously opened the Red Sea and delivered them from Egypt. This marked the end of their journey to the land of promise and began 38 years of wilderness wanderings, awaiting their death sentence.
The very root of their rebellion was self-destructive unbelief, which always disregards God's ability and integrity to fulfill His promises. In bold opposition to the majority opinion, Caleb shouted his faith in the promises of God yet no one would listen to him. Caleb had faith to recognize the vital importance of obeying God's Word as their Guide regardless of circumstances. It appears that the Israelites were ready to stone Caleb and Joshua, who were willing to die for their faith in the promises of God. God rewarded the faithfulness of Caleb who later asked if he could possess Hebron as his inheritance in the promised land. His willingness to remain faithful resulted in being able to enjoy his choice in the promised land. "And the LORD said, I have pardoned according to thy word: But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD. Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice; Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it: But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it." (14:21-24)
One of the severest tests of sincerity is found in the willingness to remain faithful to Christ when it seems like everyone is against you. Our usefulness to God lies in obedience, and the measure of our usefulness is determined by our faith in the Word of God and the degree of our discipline and submission to God's will. Satan's objective is that our decisions be like the unbelieving Israelites and not like Caleb. Satan seeks to divert a Christian's thoughts from trusting in the Lord to doubting Him. Such diversion is in opposition to the single eye that takes God at His Word and that puts the Lord first and foremost above all other considerations. We must always put God above all things as He is our only hope from being lost in the wilderness.
In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed as God's glory (Numbers 14:22). Jesus Christ is the brightness of His glory. "Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:" (Hebrews 1:3).
Today's Psalm: 31:23
"O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer."
Today's Prayer: From Psalm 40:1-3
I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

Bible Study: Pride & Discouragement
02.18.08 (9:29 am) [edit]Pride & Discouragement 02.18.08
Hello My Friend/Guest,
It is Monday February 18, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers. Please read Numbers 12 -- 13 in your Bible or Click Here. In today's lesson we will read and learn about Miriam and Aaron speaking against Moses; Miriam is then stricken with leprosy; Moses prays; the 12 spies sent to Canaan and their report.
Miriam was the sister of Moses and of Aaron the high priest. She was honored above all the women of Israel, had a prophetic anointing, and was gifted in music and singing. Miriam and Aaron were displeased that Mose married an Ethiopian woman and began speaking against him. "And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it." *Numbers 12:1-2).
Suddenly, the Lord demanded to meet with Miriam, Aaron, and Moses. Miriam may have been delighted, thinking that God was just as displeased with Moses as she was and would agree with her criticism. Undoubtedly, she experienced an overwhelming shock when God reprimanded her. "And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth. And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream. My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses? And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed. And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous." (12:5-10).
Just then Aaron pleaded with God not to make him leprous and Moses prays to Him asking Him to heal Miriam. God agreed, but said that she must not be healed for seven days. She must live as a leper, away from everyone for seven days. "And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas, my lord, I beseech thee, lay not the sin upon us, wherein we have done foolishly, and wherein we have sinned. Let her not be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he cometh out of his mother's womb. And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee. And the LORD said unto Moses, If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed seven days? let her be shut out from the camp seven days, and after that let her be received in again. And Miriam was shut out from the camp seven days: and the people journeyed not till Miriam was brought in again." (12:11-15).
Covetousness and pride are never satisfied. Even the possession of spiritual gifts can lead to pride, as well as jealousy, when others with similar spiritual gifts appear to be getting all the attention. When someone we have known as less qualified is promoted above us or given recognition in our church or office, we may be tempted to fall into Miriam's sin of jealousy and criticizing. Pride takes many forms. It can be based on physical beauty, wealth, education, or talents; but pride is a self-destructive and self-deceptive sin.
No doubt Miriam felt she was replaced by another who wasn't even a Jew. Miriam attempted, as many others have, to make it appear that her concern came from a "spiritual" motive. But God saw through her jealousy, envy, pride, and hurt feelings. It was the God-ordained leadership of Moses, not his choice of a wife or what he was teaching, that was being questioned. God will never allow those who follow and serve Him to be harmed or criticized, there may be some obstacles that we are to deal with, but eventually they will subside and make us stronger and God will definately reprimand them for what they have done to us.
The Lord commanded Moses to send 12 spies to search the land of Canaan. "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them....And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain: And see the land, what it is, and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many; And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds; And what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the firstripe grapes." ((13:1-2, 17-20). The spies stood on the very site where Abraham had built an altar unto God (See Genesis 13). It was at Hebron that Abraham had pleaded with God not to destroy Sodom (See Genesis 18) and later bought the cave of Machpelah and buried Sarah, but neither of these things we re mentioned when they reported back. "And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it. Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there......And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we. And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight." (13:27-28,30-33).
Because of their unbelief, they could only see the high walls and the giants. If they had recognized that God is Almighty, as Joshua and Caleb did, they could have conquered and possessed this promised land. Dependence upon human reasoning and physical strength instead of committing oneself to the Lord's work reveals a lack of faith in God's ability to fulfill His promises. Believers need to recognize that satan is always present to discourage and seeks to defeat every desire of the believer to trust in the Lord. Spiritual victories are never obtained without the faith of Caleb who said, Let us go up at once. The high walls and the giants were excuses that revealed their lack of faith. Those who trust God have no need to fear the giants and high walls of mixed motives, selfish ambition, or worldliness confronting us.
In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed through Moses, who was very meek, (Numbers 12:3). Jesus said: "Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls." (Matthew 11:29). To be meek means to be mild and quiet in nature.
Today's Psalm: 91:1
"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty."
Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Increase our faith, strengthen us, and help us to overcome the sins of pride and discouragement. We can do all things through You, Lord, help us to soak in your word as we spend time with you. Help us to increase our ability to give an account of our faith. Help us to want to share You with the world. Help us to be meek just as Jesus and Moses was. We love You and need You, Lord and pray in Jesus' name....Amen.
Enjoy the rest of your day/night and have a great and blessed week.
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Following God's Will
02.17.08 (1:07 pm) [edit]Following God's Will 02.17.08
Hello My Friend/Guest,
It is Sunday February 17, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers. Please read Numbers 10 -- 11 in your Bible or Click Here. In today's lesson we will read and learn about the two silver trumpets; the Israelites leaving Sinai; complaints of the people; the 70 elders chosen; and the Lord sends a plague.
It was the responsibility of Aaron and his sons to blow the two trumpets of silver. The trumpets were long, straight tubes of silver with bell-shaped mouths. They could not be made from inferior metal, nor from silver fragments; instead they were to be fashioned from one whole piece of silver. Regardless of where one was in relation to the position of the Tabernacle, the clear tones of the silver trumpets would communicate various messages. "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Make thee two trumpets of silver; of a whole piece shalt thou make them: that thou mayest use them for the calling of the assembly, and for the journeying of the camps. And when they shall blow with them, all the assembly shall assemble themselves to thee at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. And if they blow but with one trumpet, then the princes, which are heads of the thousands of Israel, shall gather themselves unto thee. When ye blow an alarm, then the camps that lie on the east parts shall go forward. When ye blow an alarm the second time, then the camps that lie on the south side shall take their journey: they shall blow an alarm for their journeys. But when the congregation is to be gathered together, ye shall blow, but ye shall not sound an alarm. And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the trumpets; and they shall be to you for an ordinance for ever throughout your generations." (Numbers 10:1-8).
Whether they worshiped, went to war, or journeyed, every move of the people was to be in obedience to the various sounds of the trumpets. The two silver trumpets represent the truth of God's Word and remind us that both the Old and the New Testaments are each a part of the whole Word of God. The two trumpets were symbolic of an appeal to God for guidance and protection as they journeyed and for victory in war against enemy forces.
On their way to the promised land, the Israelites were always complaining about something. They failed to see that every problem, every disappointment, and every difficulty was a test of their faith and an opportunity for them to trust God to supply their every need. Thanksgiving and praise should have been their reaction, but all they did was complain that it was manna and compared to all the fine food that was in Egypt. "And when the people complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp. And the people cried unto Moses; and when Moses prayed unto the LORD, the fire was quenched. And he called the name of the place Taberah: because the fire of the LORD burnt among them. And the mixt multitude that was among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat? We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick: But now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all, beside this manna, before our eyes. And the manna was as coriander seed, and the colour thereof as the colour of bdellium. And the people went about, and gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in a mortar, and baked it in pans, and made cakes of it: and the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil. And when the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell upon it. " (11:1-9). God answered their prayer for meat, however, it was not what they expected.
God sends trials to test our faith as well as an opportunity to reveal Himself as the All-Sufficient One. The Lord permits adverse circumstances that believers may discover how not to trust in our own opinions, feelings, and judgments. The believer's satisfaction and pleasure will be discovered by reading and believing all of God's Word and leaving the outcome of all situations to Him. We should be content with what Christ has chosen for us knowing that it is always for our best interest without exception. We also need to pray as He did, not my will, but Your Will be done.
In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed through the two trumpets made of silver. In the Bible silver stands for truth and Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6).
Today's Psalm: 31:23
"O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer."
Today's Prayer: From Luke 11:2-4
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
Enjoy the rest of your day/night and weekend.

Bible Study: The Passover Lamb
02.16.08 (9:59 am) [edit]The Passover Lamb 02.16.08
Hello My Friend/Guest,
It is Saturday February 16, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers. Please read, Numbers 8 -- 9 in your Bible or Click Here. In today's lesson we will read and learn about the cleansing of the Levites; national Passover; the Lord's guiding presence in the cloud and the fire over the Tabernacle.
The Passover was a memorial of the great historic deliverance of Israel from their hopeless slavery in Egypt. The Israelites regained their freedom from Egypt after they had observed the first Passover. The blood of an innocent lamb was placed on the doorpost but, equally important, they were commanded to eat the lamb. Freedom from the cruel slavery of the Egyptian Pharaoh meant that now they were free to follow the leadership of Our One True God. "And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying, Let the children of Israel also keep the passover at his appointed season. In the fourteenth day of this month, at even, ye shall keep it in his appointed season: according to all the rites of it, and according to all the ceremonies thereof, shall ye keep it. And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, that they should keep the passover. And they kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the first month at even in the wilderness of Sinai: according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel." (Numbers 9:1-5).
Innocent blood of a lamb satisfied God and protected Israel from the destroyer, who passed over each year to destroy those who did not have the blood along their door posts (See Exodus 12). The passover lamb satisfied and strengthened the family as they left Egypt. The Lord commanded that there be nothing left of the Passover meal. The Passover meal was not meant for those who would settle down in Egypt. It provided strength for thier journey to the promised land. Not only were they to partake of the Passover Feast, but they were also required to bring the Lord's offering. "The fourteenth day of the second month at even they shall keep it, and eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. They shall leave none of it unto the morning, nor break any bone of it: according to all the ordinances of the passover they shall keep it. But the man that is clean, and is not in a journey, and forbeareth to keep the passover, even the same soul shall be cut off from among his people: because he brought not the offering of the LORD in his appointed season, that man shall bear his sin." (9:11-13).
Today, we observe the Lord's Supper and this is a reminder of our freedom from sin. We have become children of God and are prepared for our journey through life. Jesus Christ is our Passover lamb that sacrificed Himself for us. The Apostle Paul bears witness to Jesus' words by saying as often as you eat this bread, and drink this cup, you are reminded that He died for your sins and are free from them. "For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come." (I Corinthians 11:23-26).
Just as the Lord had a journey planned for the Israelite tribes, He has a plan for each of us as we journey through life. Our supreme aim should be to accomplish His purpose for creating us. When God is our guide, what is there to fear? The love of God surpasses any fear. He has provided a reliable threefold Guide for daily direction through life, His perfect Word, the power of prayer, and His indwelling Holy Spirit. Once we accept Jesus into our lives God's Holy Spirit dwells in us and as long as we read His Word and pray to Him daily we will conquer any fear.
In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed through the Passover which serves as a beautiful illustration of the redemption Christ accomplished at Calvary as the Lamb of God.
Today's Psalm: 51:11
"Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me."
Today's Prayer: From Psalm 31:1-8
In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me. For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me. Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength. Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth. I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD. I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities; And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large room.
Have a wonderful day/night and enjoy your weekend.
God Bless you,
Christina

Bible Study: Living in Harmony
02.15.08 (9:35 am) [edit]Living in Harmony 02.15.08
Hello My Friend/Guest,
It is Friday February 15, 2008 and todaye we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers. Please read, Numbers 7. In today's lesson we will read and learn about the princes' offerings for the dedication of the Tabernacle.
The princes recognized the needs of the Levites and desired to cooperate with them in the spirit of godly love. "And it came to pass on the day that Moses had fully set up the tabernacle, and had anointed it, and sanctified it, and all the instruments thereof, both the altar and all the vessels thereof, and had anointed them, and sanctified them; That the princes of Israel, heads of the house of their fathers, who were the princes of the tribes, and were over them that were numbered, offered: And they brought their offering before the LORD, six covered wagons, and twelve oxen; a wagon for two of the princes, and for each one an ox: and they brought them before the tabernacle. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Take it of them, that they may be to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation; and thou shalt give them unto the Levites, to every man according to his service." (Numbers 7:1-5). The princes of the tribes could not participate in the duties of the Tabernacle; but through their offerings, they were able to assist the Levites in their God-appointed responsibilities. Since the leaders could not hold the spiritual position of preeminence, as did the Levites, they could have expressed a spirit of jealousy and given little or nothing to help them. But, instead, they willingly brought generous, sacrificial gifts to supply the needs of the Levites.
These gifts were not equally divided among the Levites. The family of the Gershonites received two wagons and four oxen for their duties. The Merarites, who had much heavier burdens to bear received four wagons and eight oxen. But, to the sons of Kohath he gave none because they were required to personally carry the Tabernacle furniture. "And Moses took the wagons and the oxen, and gave them unto the Levites. Two wagons and four oxen he gave unto the sons of Gershon, according to their service: And four wagons and eight oxen he gave unto the sons of Merari, according unto their service, under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest. But unto the sons of Kohath he gave none: because the service of the sanctuary belonging unto them was that they should bear upon their shoulders." (7:6-9). Although they were not aware of it, each item was an expression of a characteristic of the coming Messiah, Jesus Christ our Lord. Now they would be eased from this burden by these generous gifts.
Although all the gifts were identical, each prince was recognized for his gift. Among other things, we learn that every gift and act of service to our Lord is faithfully remembered. Mount Sinai is often associated with the severity of the Law. But the Tabernacle that was built at Mount Sinai illustrates the concern of God to communicate with His people and to lovingly direct them through the desert to the promised land. All the princes revealed their gratitude to God by responding to the need The largest tribe did not crowd out the smallest tribe, but each was allowed the opportunity to give.
Since the offerings from each of the princes were exactly the same, it may seem monotonous to read all the details that were given for each one. But the repetition reveals the significance God places on every sacrifice given to support His ministry. Our individual offerings may seem small to us, but everyone and every gift is important. God gives equal recognition not only to the giver but to those who receive them to be used for His glory.
What a thrilling experience to observe this harmony in the people of God working together and caring for one another. The offering of the princes of the tribes manifested a thoughfulness which only the Spirit of God can create in the hearts of His people when they are dedicated to God. What an encouragement to the Levites to see others who were concerned enough to share the load.
In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed through the voluntary offerings of the leaders which were sufficient to meet the needs. Jesus gave His life to meet our every need. "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:19).
Today's Psalm: 47:9
"The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted."
Today's Prayer: From Psalm 71:1-5
In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion. Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me. Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress. Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man. For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth.
Have a wonderful day/night and weekend, be blessed knowing that God is with you always. Thank God It's Friday.

Bible Study: Placing God First
02.14.08 (9:25 am) [edit]Placing God First 02.14.08
Hello My Friend/Guest,
It is Thursday February 14, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers. Please read Numbers 5 -- 6. In today's lesson we will read and learn about the Nazarite vow; and the laws concerning cleansing, confession, restitution, and jealousy.
Nazarite is a Hebrew term meaning, dedication by separation, the Nazarite vow committed an individual to a life set to God for a specific period of time or even for life. "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When either man or woman shall separate themselves to vow a vow of a Nazarite, to separate themselves unto the LORD: He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried. All the days of his separation shall he eat nothing that is made of the vine tree, from the kernels even to the husk. All the days of the vow of his separation there shall no razor come upon his head: until the days be fulfilled, in the which he separateth himself unto the LORD, he shall be holy, and shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow. All the days that he separateth himself unto the LORD he shall come at no dead body. He shall not make himself unclean for his father, or for his mother, for his brother, or for his sister, when they die: because the consecration of his God is upon his head. All the days of his separation he is holy unto the LORD." (Numbers 6:1-8).
The Nazarite willingly gave up physical satisfaction to be devoted to the Lord. He did not sacrifice merely his personal pleasures but his total being. The Nazarite's personal dedication to God was to serve Him with a perfect heart and with a willng mind at all times. The Nazarite's consecration to God was expressed in several ways including abstinence from grape juice, fresh grapes, or raisins, representative of the best of physical satisfaction. They were also forbidden to touch a corpse even if it was their parent that had died. To be defiled by the dead was representative of spiritual deadness. But, the Nazarite was still responsible for offering all the usual sacrifices, such as the sin offering. This points out that, even in doing our very best to separate ourselves from the world, we still fall short of being free from all spiritual defilement.
However, the Apostle John wrote to Christians saying that if we say that we have fellowship with God and intentionally sin then we are deceiving ourselves, but He is faithful and just, cleansing us from all sin. "If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (I John 1:6-9). Although the Nazarite vow no longer applies, our personal dedication to God is vital to fulfilling His will for our lives.
The Christian should, like the Nazarite, desire to go beyond what is necessary to "just be a Christian," recognizing the value of a personal relationship with Christ. Christians should also be willing to give up anything that keeps them from being their best to serve and worship the Lord. There was nothing sinful about eating grapes; but, often, even the "good" things of life take the place of Christ. Those who love Christ will abstain from pleasures that interfere with serving His needs first.
In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed as the Nazarite who dedicated Himself to God. (Numbers 6:1-8). Jesus dedicated Himself to do only the will of His Father, even unto death
Today's Psalm: 16:7
"I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons."
Today's Prayer: From Psal m 18:46-49
The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted. It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me. He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man. Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name.
Have a wonderful day/night. Happy Valentine's Day and remember God loves you and I love you too.
God Bless,
Christina

Jesus Said: You Are Released From Pain
02.13.08 (11:52 am) [edit]You Are Released From Pain 02.13.08
"And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God." (Luke 13:10-13).
To have an infirmity means to be weak and in pain physically, mentally, and spiritually. This pour woman had been in pain for 18 years, I imagine that as the years grew on she became worse as her spirit began to fade. However, this woman had just enough faith in Jesus that when He touched her she was healed instantly.
I will tell you that we are nothing without a healthy spirit. I have a quote that I wrote, many treatments can be given, many words can be spoken, but if it is not in the heart all is lost. The heart is more than just an organ to keep us alive, it is the inner spirit within us, the center of everything that keeps us functioning. A person can not be physically and mentally fit if our spirit is weak.
I have been there and know what it feels like to be in such pain, unfortunately satan knows my weaknesses and he uses them often to try and bring me back to my infirmity. In fact he has been messing with me for a few weeks now, that is why I have not been writing these messages as frequently as I do. He weakens my spirit and it keeps me from hearing God speak to me so I end up losing focus of Him.
However, we have a great and mighty God and what does not kill us makes us stronger through Him. God is right there guiding us and protecting us, He never forsakes us and is always waiting on us to call on Him to touch us. Right now, I am calling on Jesus to release me from my infirmity:
Jesus, You are the Lord of my life, You are my Saviour and my Salvation. I have faith and trust in You. Lord, lossen me from my infirmity, make me straight and whole again. I need you, Lord, I need You to touch me and heal my fading spirit, I know I am nothing without You. In Your mighty name, Jesus' I pray....Amen.
Are you ready to release your infirmity?
Jesus is right there waiting for you to lossen you from yours.
God bless you.

Bible Study: Staying Faithful to God
02.13.08 (9:50 am) [edit]Staying Faithful to God 02.13.08
Hello My Friend/Guest,
It is Wednesday February 13, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers. Please read, Numbers 3-4. In today's lesson we will read and learn about the concequences of disobedience by spiritual leaders, the census and duties of the Levites: the Kohathites, the Gershonites, and the Merarites; and the redemption of the firstborn,
Nadab and Abihu, Aaron's two oldest sons, had been greatly honored by being included with Moses, Aaron, and 70 elders on Mount Sinai to hear the voice of God. They had been given national recognition and God ordained spiritual leadership. But, all this did not protect them from the consequences of their disobedience. "These also are the generations of Aaron and Moses in the day that the LORD spake with Moses in mount Sinai. And these are the names of the sons of Aaron; Nadab the firstborn, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the priests which were anointed, whom he consecrated to minister in the priest's office. And Nadab and Abihu died before the LORD, when they offered strange fire before the LORD, in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children: and Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest's office in the sight of Aaron their father." (Numbers 3:1-4). Perhaps they presumed to burn incense, symbolic of the prayers of the people, with unauthorized fire not kindled by God from the Brazen Altar. Their unauthorized fire underlined the seriousness of departing from the Commandments of God. It points out that no one becomes so important or so popular as a spiritual leader that God will overlook disobedience to His Word. To be a minister, or even to become a member of a church, with no intent to submit one's life to please Christ is hypocrisy.
The decision to ignore any command of God is sin. We can not use circumstances to justify an exception to His Word. Neither is there a choice of what part of His Word we can neglect or reject, for all is the inspired Word of God. The Word of God is the source for meeting all the needs of our hearts and is the final and only source of absolute truth.
It was vitally important that the Levites remained faithful and loyal if the priests were to perform their sacred responsibilities. "From thirty years old and upward until fifty years old shalt thou number them; all that enter in to perform the service, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation. This is the service of the families of the Gershonites, to serve, and for burdens: And they shall bear the curtains of the tabernacle, and the tabernacle of the congregation, his covering, and the covering of the badgers' skins that is above upon it, and the hanging for the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, And the hangings of the court, and the hanging for the door of the gate of the court, which is by the tabernacle and by the altar round about, and their cords, and all the instruments of their service, and all that is made for them: so shall they serve. At the appointment of Aaron and his sons shall be all the service of the sons of the Gershonites, in all their burdens, and in all their service: and ye shall appoint unto them in charge all their burdens." (4:23-27). The words to perform the service occur again and again referring to the Levites' ordinary hard work of disassembling the Tabernacle and carrying the curtains, poles, furniture, and everything pertaining to the Tabernacle worship throughout the dangerous, difficult wilderness journey.
Just as the priests at that time were dependent upon the faithfulness of the workers, the outreach of God's Word throughout the world today is dependent upon the faithfulness of God's people. Every Christian is called upon to perform the service to faithfully help make it possible for others to know about Jesus Christ and His Word, which alone can set souls free from sin and falling into an eternal lake of fire. Salvation is more than a doctrine. It takes place when a person fully gives himself to the Lord. Christ expects not only to be our Savior but to be our Guide through life in that Christ may dwell in our hearts by faith and filled with the goodness of the Holy Spirit.
Everything is changed when the believer submits to the Lordship of Christ and realizes that everything of eternal value does have its source in Him. It is then that Bible reading becomes the means of discovering His will and living daily to please the Lord. Satan continually seeks to hinder everyone from accomplishing anything worthwhile for the Lord. We must be on guard against the temptations that hinder us from being fatihful servants of God.
In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed by Aaron, the high priest, who was served by the Levites (Numbers 3:6). Jesus Christ is the holy and royal priesthood, we serve Christ, our great High Priest.
Today's Psalm: 119:90-91
"Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth. They continue this day according to thine ordinances: for all are thy servants."
Today's Prayer: From Psalm 37:7-14
Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me. When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek. Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation. When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up. Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies. Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty. I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
Have a great day/night and God Bless you.

Bible Study: Follow God Without Reservation
02.12.08 (9:50 am) [edit]Follow God Without Reservation 02.12.08
Hello My Friend/Guest,
It is Tuesday February 12, 2008 and today we begin our studies on the book of Numbers. The book of Numbers was written by Moses, it contains 36 chapters and records the Isrealites experiences of life in the wilderness. The purpose of the book is to show that God is not pleased with anything less than total commitment. Please read, Numbers 1-2. In today's lesson we will read and learn about the first numbering of the Israelites for military purposes and the encampment location of each tribe in relation to the Tabernacle.
About 70 times in the Book of Numbers, we read: The LORD said or the LORD spoke to Moses. These were the words of our Heavenly Father speaking to His children. The desire of God was to have a people that would love, obey, and follow Him without reservation. He, in turn, would be their God, and lead them into the promised land. The Israelites had been camped near Mount Sinai for more than a year. It took about 30 days to receive all the laws and regulations recorded in the Book of Leviticus. "And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of the congregation, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying, Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, after their families, by the house of their fathers, with the number of their names, every male by their polls; From twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel: thou and Aaron shall number them by their armies." (Numbers 1:1-3). This became the first numbering (census) of the people. They were now ready to move toward the promised land.
While the Israelites remained at Mount Sinai, they did what the Lord commanded. "And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did they."(1:54). Israel was free from the cruel slavery of Egypt and the forced obedience to Pharaoh. Israel's tribes were not journeying as strangers through a desert waste merely led by Moses. They would be led by God Himself. As long as the Israelites were neither accomplishing anything for the Lord, nor going anywhere, just talking about it, they were content, but when they had to put their trust and faith in God they were quick to complain and turn away from Him. Rather than see their difficulties as an opportunity to believe that God would continue to meet their needs and lead them to the promised land, they chose to be dissatisfied with their circumstances.
In much the same way, our lives are also a wilderness journey to our promised land, a march each day through unfamiliar territory. Let us not forget that, from the time the Israelites were led to move forward in obedience to God's Word, Satan was there to create discontent, faultfinding and unbelief in the promises of God.
When Christians complain about their hardships, as the Israelites did, they too disqualify themselves from the Lord's best. Only a faithful few, like Caleb, Joshua, and Moses, recognize that God is in control and has arranged His plan for our lives. We need to faithfully read the Bible with an unreserved desire to know His will and to do all that He would have us do. Jesus is still saying to all who find fault with God: "O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?" (Matthew 14:31). We are never alone. His indwelling Holy Spirit enlightens our minds, comforts and stirs our hearts to accomplish His will.
In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed by Moses as he led the people (Numbers 1:54). Jesus said: "I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me." (John 5:30).
Today's Psalm: 89:1
"I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations."
Today's Prayer: From Psalm 119:166-176
LORD, I have hoped for thy salvation, and done thy commandments. My soul hath kept thy testimonies; and I love them exceedingly. I have kept thy precepts and thy testimonies: for all my ways are before thee. Let my cry come near before thee, O LORD: give me understanding according to thy word. Let my supplication come before thee: deliver me according to thy word. My lips shall utter praise, when thou hast taught me thy st
