The Lord's Side 08.30.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are completing our studies on the book of Jeremiah, please read Chapters 51-52 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jerem iah%2051-52&version=9

Today we will read and learn about the judgement of Babylon; the fall of Jerusalem; and the captivity of Judah. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that the time is swiftly coming when enemies of God will be judged. Be sure you are on the Lord's side.

The spectacular and gigantic empire of the Chaldeans surpassed anything that the world has ever known. It's capital, Babylon, appeared invincible with walls 360 feet high and 80 feet broad. They were enjoying absolute rule over all the nations when Jeremiah declared the judgement and destruction upon them. "Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of the LORD's vengeance; he will render unto her a recompence. Babylon hath been a golden cup in the LORD's hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad. Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed." (Jeremiah 51:6-8).

And as foretold by the prophet, the Babylonian capital "suddenly fell." This was on the night that Belshazzar the king made a great feast (See Daniel 5). Babylon's defeat came at a time when its leaders were filled with pride and feasting, and were fearless of all the world. It was the signal for freedom and redemption for the faithful Jews in captivity who were warned more than once to flee from Babylon and ater its defeat by Cyrus, they were at liberty to remain in Babylon and enjoy its luxury and new-found freedom; but they were commissioned by prophecy to restore the desolations of the once-magnificent Jerusalem.

The unwillingness of the majority of the Jews to forsake the luxuries of Babylon for the poverty and hardships they would experience in returning to Jerusalem is a reflection of what we are facing throughout the world today. How accurately this describes some who love the pleasures of the world and will not respond to the invitation of Christ. "And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it." (Luke 9:23-24).

More often than that, many will accept Jesus and consent to follow Him, but quickly fall away when things become difficult. Jesus illustrates the life of a Christian/ Non-Christian with seeds sown, "Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow: And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up. And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth: But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit. And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred." (Mark 4:3-8).

God gives us a choice, we can either follow Jesus or follow the world. Whether we choose to follow Him or not we will still face trials and tribulation. Without Him the result often leads to depression and dependencies on worldly things or people, however with Him we can be at peace and prevail knowing that He is with us and will carry us through every step we take. God never gives us any obstacle that we can not handle, He knows our strengths better than we do and the more we seek Him the stronger we become and are able to prevail against any person or thing that the devil uses to get us to dry up and wither away. Trust in Jesus and You will prevail!

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed through the Creator of the universe (Jeremiah 51:15). All things were created for Him and by Him. "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist." (Colossians 1:16-17).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
You reign over all the earth and You also reign in my heart! What an awesome blessing this truth brings to me today. As I consider that it is not by my might, nor by my power but by the Spirit of the Lord of Hosts that my personal mountains are removed. Jesus, I know that many of the mountains I face are not just blown away by a simple prayer of faith, but these mountains are often the very essence of how You work through my life to reveal Your faithfulness and Your power in the midst of my struggles. You develop godly character as I am challenged to remain steadfast and faithful in my Christian walk. It is You who I put my trust in and will prevail. In Jesus' name.....Amen.

Enjoy the rest of your day and be blessed.
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Judgement & Discouragement

Judgement & Discouragement 08.29.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are continuing our studies on the book of Jeremiah, please read Chapters 49-50 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jerem iah%2049-50&version=9

Today we will read and learn about the judgements against Ammon, Edom, Damascus, Kedar, Hazor, Elam, And Babylon foretold; and the promise of Isreal's redemption. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that God is constantly working in our lives to persuade us to forsake sin and to bring us into His presence in true worship. As long as we put our faith and trust in Him we can overcome any person or thing that tries to discourage us.

God issues judgement on all who deliberately war against Him and His people, Chapter 49 goes into detail of the judgements placed before these nations. Jeremiah prophesied that the Ammonites, descendants of Lot who were historically hostile to the Israelites, would be destroyed. "Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard in Rabbah of the Ammonites; and it shall be a desolate heap, and her daughters shall be burned with fire: then shall Israel be heir unto them that were his heirs, saith the LORD......Behold, I will bring a fear upon thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts, from all those that be about thee; and ye shall be driven out every man right forth; and none shall gather up him that wandereth." (Jeremiah 49:2,5).
He then prophesied that Edom, a nation that descended from Jacob's twin brother Esau. Edom has always been a jealous enemy of Jacob's descendents and jumped at the oppurtunity to join forces with Babylon. "For thus saith the LORD; Behold, they whose judgment was not to drink of the cup have assuredly drunken; and art thou he that shall altogether go unpunished? thou shalt not go unpunished, but thou shalt surely drink of it." (49:12). Judgment was then pronounced against Babylon, "Declare ye among the nations, and publish, and set up a standard; publish, and conceal not: say, Babylon is taken, Bel is confounded, Merodach is broken in pieces; her idols are confounded, her images are broken in pieces." (50:2).
We can expect the forces of evil to discourage us in an effort to destroy our faith in God. However, God is not glorified by our fears, doubts, or frustrations. In fact, despondency is a sin. We must keep our eyes on the promises of God that have never failed.
Jeremiah sent a written prophecy to the exiles in Babylon concerning its overthrow, "Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria. And I will bring Israel again to his habitation, and he shall feed on Carmel and Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied upon mount Ephraim and Gilead. In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve." (50:18-20). He was reassuring them that God had not forgotten His Covenant promises to them and that they would return to Isreal safe and unharmed.
Judah's faith in the prophetic message of God was a precious type of the repentant backslider who believes that God has freed him from sin, who leaves the world of slavery and returns to worship the Lord. God works out every purpose that He has for us one way or another, even if we vere off course He will draw us back by using trials and chastisement. All who repent and return to the Lord are freed from the bondange of sin.
In today's message Jesus Christ is revealed through the Redeemer who pleads our cause (Jeremiah 50:34). Jesus is our Redeemer, "Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works." (Titus 2:13-14).
Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
As heirs of Your salvation, we have been purchased with the sacrificial blood of Your precious Son, Jesus. He gave His all that we might be saved from the eternal consequences of sin. We have the blessed assurance that we are redeemed from sin and saved for eternity in heaven. In Jesus' name......Amen.
Have a great and wonderful day!
God bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Serving God

Serving God 08.28.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are continuing our studies on the book of Jeremiah, please read Chapters 45-48 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jerem iah%2045-48&version=9

Today we will read and learn about Jeremiah's message to Baruch; and the judgment against Egypt, Philistia, and Moab. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that it is a real privilege to strive for excellence in the ministry God has given to us. The smallest effort we make to serve God means more to God than not doing anything at all.

Baruch was a scribe often employed by Jeremiah, Although Baruch was recording the Word of God spoken through Jeremiah, he did not have the spiritual concern or insight of the prophet, who was deeply concerned for the people to repent of their sins and avoid destruction. Baruch was discouraged and despondent, over his losses. God sent him a personal letter of rebuke. "Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, unto thee, O Baruch: Thou didst say, Woe is me now! for the LORD hath added grief to my sorrow; I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest. Thus shalt thou say unto him, The LORD saith thus; Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up, even this whole land. And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the LORD: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest." (Jeremiah 45:2-5). Baruch expressed no heartfelt grief regarding the impending destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple of God or the pitiful slavery of the people, as Jeremiah had foretold. Instead, he only expressed sorrow over his own lack of personal fulfillment.

Baruch should have considered it a great privilege to be a coworker in Jeremiah's ministry. Our time and talents are precious treasures invested in us by the God of all creation to accomplish His will through us. True fulfillment comes only when we recognize that God has arranged the circumstances in our lives.
The condemnation of God was upon all the heathen nations that had fought against the people of God. However, God also had a message for some of His own people. "Cursed be he that doeth the work of the LORD deceitfully, and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood." (48:10). Such situations still exist and we need to realize there are consequences when we choose to serve God while still living wordly. Jesus said, "No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." (Luke 16:13).
Those who recognize their indebtedness to God for His redeeming grace see the eternal tragedy of postponing opportunities to minister to a needy world. Our lives belong to our Redeemer and we are to serve Him fervently, in full obedience and always for His honor and His glory.
Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
As we live by faith and not by sight we see much of what the world does not see because we see it through eyes of faith. By faith we see a risen Savior who died for us and who is now interceding on our behalf. By faith we believe that life’s trials will be worth it all when we are ushered into the pearly gates and gather with saints of all the ages to praise our glorious Savior around the throne. It is by faith that we come to Jesus and it is by faith that we will stay the course. For it is not the one who runs the swiftest nor the one who runs for a day, but the one who endures to the end that will be saved.  The struggles of this life diminish when we walk by faith and not by sight. In Jesus' name......Amen.
Enjoy the rest of your day and be blessed.
God Bless,

Bible Study: Choose Life

Choose Life 08.27.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are continuing our studies on the book of Jeremiah, please read Chapters 41-44 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jerem iah%2041-44&version=9

Today, we will read and learn about Gedaliah's assassination; Jeremiah being taken to Egypt; and the unhappiness of Judah from idol tary. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that whether or not we choose to sin against God is a choice that we consciously make, but by choosing to believe His Word and not sin, we choose life. Many people, including Christian's are lead to believe that if they choose God they can not enjoy life, but they are further from the truth. God blesses and rewards all who follow Him.

Nebuchadnezzar defeated the Israelite kingdom of Judah, fulfilling the prophecy of Jeremiah by destroying Jerusalem. He made Gedaliah governor over the poor people left in the land. Earlier, Gedalaih was warned of an assassination plot, "Moreover Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were in the fields, came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, And said unto him, Dost thou certainly know that Baalis the king of the Ammonites hath sent Ishmael the son of Nethaniah to slay thee? But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam believed them not." (Jeremiah 40:13-14). He foolishly refused to believe that the threat was real and two months later was murdered. "Then arose Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and the ten men that were with him, and smote Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan with the sword, and slew him, whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the land." (41:2).

The Israelites who remained in the land feared for Nebuchadnezzar and expected him to strike. The captians spoke to Jeremiah, "And said unto Jeremiah the prophet, Let, we beseech thee, our supplication be accepted before thee, and pray for us unto the LORD thy God, even for all this remnant; (for we are left but a few of many, as thine eyes do behold us:) That the LORD thy God may shew us the way wherein we may walk, and the thing that we may do. Then Jeremiah the prophet said unto them, I have heard you; behold, I will pray unto the LORD your God according to your words; and it shall come to pass, that whatsoever thing the LORD shall answer you, I will declare it unto you; I will keep nothing back from you." (42:2-4).

Jeremiah prayed to God and ten days later He answered, "And said unto them, Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, unto whom ye sent me to present your supplication before him; If ye will still abide in this land, then will I build you, and not pull you down, and I will plant you, and not pluck you up: for I repent me of the evil that I have done unto you. Be not afraid of the king of Babylon, of whom ye are afraid; be not afraid of him, saith the LORD: for I am with you to save you, and to deliver you from his hand." (42:9-11).

However instead of listening to God they later escaped to Egypt forcing Jeremiah to go with them. "So Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, and all the people, obeyed not the voice of the LORD, to dwell in the land of Judah. But Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, took all the remnant of Judah, that were returned from all nations, whither they had been driven, to dwell in the land of Judah; Even men, and women, and children, and the king's daughters, and every person that Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had left with Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Jeremiah the prophet, and Baruch the son of Neriah. So they came into the land of Egypt: for they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: thus came they even to Tahpanhes." (43:4-7).

Nothing could have been more distressing to Jeremiah than being forced into Egypt as a prisoner of his own people, but that did not stop him from staying faithful to God and telling the Isrealites what they were about to face. Jeremiah watched the Israelites sink further into sin as they worshiped the Egyptian goddess Ashtoreth. Between seventy and eighty years old he delivered his last prophecy concerning the soon-coming defeat of Egypt by Nebuchadnezzar. "For I will punish them that dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence: So that none of the remnant of Judah, which are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall escape or remain, that they should return into the land of Judah, to the which they have a desire to return to dwell there: for none shall return but such as shall escape." (44:13-14). Because of their sins and rejection of the Word of God, faith in the living God did not exist. Like so many today, they distorted the truth and made their own decisions on what they think the true word of God is, making up their own gods.

Instead of finding ways to prove that God is who we want Him to be or that Jesus was not God we need to stick to the truth and learn to understand the true Word of God and the only way to understand God's Word is by receiving the Holy Spirit (Ghost) through Jesus Christ as we accept Him into our lives. "Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost." (I Corinthians 12:3). We will never know what a wonderful life that is in store for us nor will we be truly alive until we are filled with the spirit of the living God.

Have a great and blessed day!
God Bless You,
Christina

Bible Study: Ignoring God

Ignoring God 08.26.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Tuesday August 26, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Jeremiah. Please read Chapters 37-40 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jerem iah%2037-40&version=9

Today we will read and learn about Jeremiah imprisioned in a dungeon; the rejection of his counsel; the destruction of Jerusalem; Jeremiah's freedom; and Ishmael's plan to assassiniate Gedliah. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that as servants of God, we are required to be faithful even in the face of adversity and that there is only one way to reach salvation.

During the tenth and eleventh year of the evil king Zedekiah's reign the armys of Egypt and Babylon were warring against Judah. Fearful of the consquences, Zedekiah appealed to Jeremiah. "And king Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah. But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, did hearken unto the words of the LORD, which he spake by the prophet Jeremiah. And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Pray now unto the LORD our God for us." (Jeremiah 37:1-3).

King Zedekiah requested his counsel once before when the king os Babylon's army first approached (Jeremiah 21), but he showed no desire to repent of his evil ways and serve God. His reason for asking the help of God was purely to save himself with no intention of changing his ways or helping his people. God gave Jeremiah this answer for Zedekiah, "Thus shall ye say to the king of Judah, that sent you unto me to enquire of me; Behold, Pharaoh's army, which is come forth to help you, shall return to Egypt into their own land. And the Chaldeans shall come again, and fight against this city, and take it, and burn it with fire. Thus saith the LORD; Deceive not yourselves, saying, The Chaldeans shall surely depart from us: for they shall not depart." (37:7-9).

When the Chaldean army retreated from Jerusalem, the Israelites believed their alliance with Egypt had been successful without the prayers of the prophet. Yet Zedekiah was uneasy and set Jeremiah free from the dungeon. "When Jeremiah was entered into the dungeon, and into the cabins, and Jeremiah had remained there many days; Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took him out: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from the LORD? And Jeremiah said, There is: for, said he, thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.......Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah into the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of bread out of the bakers' street, until all the bread in the city were spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison." (37:16-17,21).

The fortified city of Jerusalem held out for nearly a year and a half and during this time the people suffered the horrors of famine, pestilence, and cannibalism. When Zedekiah finally attempted to escape the city at night, he was captured near Jericho, witnessed his sons being killed, and even had his own eyes ripped out. "And in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, the city was broken up......But the Chaldeans' army pursued after them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he gave judgment upon him. Then the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the king of Babylon slew all the nobles of Judah. Moreover he put out Zedekiah's eyes, and bound him with chains, to carry him to Babylon." (38:2,5-7). Blinded and suffering, he was taken in chains to Babylon with many regrets, thus fulfilling the prophecies that foretold the details of this horrifying experience.

Zedekiah is an example of the consequences of those who refuse to seek the Lord's forgiveness for their sins. Delusions come upon all who turn from God. Zedekiah trusted in and the requested help of the Egyptians instead of accepting God's messages and repenting.

God's plan of salvation will not be altered for no man's demands nor will any other means of securing His mercy be accepted. There is only one way to salvation and that is by repenting and accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God who died for your sins. "But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him." (I Thessalonians 5:8-10).

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed through Jeremiah, who stood as a faithful witness to the revealed will of God (Jeremiah 38:2-9).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Nothing brings peace more than knowing that we are saved from the penalty of sin. It makes us feel safe in a struggling world that continues to search for knowledge from all the wrong sources. We are sound in our outlook when we align our understanding and convictions with Jesus Christ. Thank You, Jesus for being our Saviour and removing our sin for good. In Your mighty name, Jesus....Amen.

Enjoy the rest of your day and be blessed.
God Bless,
Christina

Ignoring God's Word 08.25.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Moday August 25, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Jeremiah. Please read Chapters 34-36 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jerem iah%2034-36&version=9

Today we will read and learn about Jeremiah warning Zedekiah; the obedience of the Rechabites; and the scroll read by Jehundi that was destroyed. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that although the majority of people don't want to hear or read the Word of God, it is still God's only Guide for life.

God lead Jeremiah to warn Zedekiah of the fate of Judah, "The word which came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and all his army, and all the kingdoms of the earth of his dominion, and all the people, fought against Jerusalem, and against all the cities thereof, saying, Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Go and speak to Zedekiah king of Judah, and tell him, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire: And thou shalt not escape out of his hand, but shalt surely be taken, and delivered into his hand; and thine eyes shall behold the eyes of the king of Babylon, and he shall speak with thee mouth to mouth, and thou shalt go to Babylon." (Jeremiah 34:1-3). The Lord, who never changes, clearly outlines His judgment on those nations who will not repent of their wicked ways, but He also rewards those who do and when people among the nation chose to follow Him He will protect them and lead them to safety. We need to view all tragic circumastances as opportunites to prevail. Although Jesus suffered and died for our sins, He rose again even more powerful.

Four years later, Nebuchadnezzar defeated the Egyptians, invaded Jerusalem and appointed Jehoiakim as his servant king, however Jehoiakim was a ruthless leader. God spoke to Jeremiah and instructed him to write everything that He said to him on a scroll. Jeremiah recorded the judgement of God against the sins of Judah. "And it came to pass in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, that this word came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, Take thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day. It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin. Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah: and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the LORD, which he had spoken unto him, upon a roll of a book." (36:1-4). God's purpose for this was to lead the people to repent and return to Him.

The scroll was read to three groups of people, first to the people in the Temple on a day of fast, then to the people of Judah, "Therefore go thou, and read in the roll, which thou hast written from my mouth, the words of the LORD in the ears of the people in the LORD's house upon the fasting day: and also thou shalt read them in the ears of all Judah that come out of their cities." (36:6). Then the scroll was read to the princes of the government, "Then he went down into the king's house, into the scribe's chamber: and, lo, all the princes sat there, even Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan the son of Achbor, and Gemariah the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes. Then Michaiah declared unto them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read the book in the ears of the people." (36:12-13). They were dismayed and terrified by the prophet's message and reported the matter to the king who then took to scroll and burned it.

Some today seal their fate by refusing to read the truth that God considers necessary to fulfill His will. Fire can consume books, but it cannot consume the inspired Word of God. The Bible has withstood similar fierce attacks for centuries, even today, but no matter how many Bibles are destroyed no one can take away the true Word of God. He truly is the truth, the life, and the way and no one can make that disappear. Jesus declared, "Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away." (Luke 21:32-33).

We too are warned, "Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." Hebrews (10:23-25).

In today's message Jesus Christ is revealed through the One who desires liberty for those in bondage (Jeremiah 34:13-16). Jesus is the Spirit of the Lord and brings deliverance to those who are captive. (Luke 4:18-19).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Your grace and tender mercies are present in the midst of perplexing situations that develop in our lives and the lives of those whom we love. Your sovereign power working within us takes the bad things that Satan hurls at us and turns them into testimonies of praise and thanksgiving when we seek to glorify You in the midst of suffering. Only a God like You can help us not to be overcome by evil, but to overcome evil with good. As we share in Your sufferings, we also share in Your glory.  Be glorifed in our lives; in the good, in the bad, and in the mysterious circumstances of our lives. In Jesus' name.....Amen.

Enjoy the rest of your day and be blessed.
God Bless,
Christina

Light Through The Tunnel 08.24.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Sunday August 24, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Jeremiah. Please read Chapters 32-33 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to yout browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jerem iah%2032-33&version=9

Today we will read and learn about Jeremiah's inprisonment; him buying a field; Jesus Christ, the branch of Righteousness promised. Today's mesage focuses on the importance of realizing that we can rest assure that, regardless of how things appear, whatever God says will come to pass and we will see light at the end of the tunnel.

It is God who decides the fate of all battles, no matter how many soldiers; how strong or skillful they are. Jeremiah is confronted by King Zedekiah as he sits in prison, "For then the king of Babylon's army besieged Jerusalem: and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the prison, which was in the king of Judah's house. For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, Wherefore dost thou prophesy, and say, Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it;" (Jeremiah 32:2-3).

Under such adverse circumstances when the destruction of the nation was imminent, God spoke to Jeremiah, "Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee: Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is his name, Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:" (32:17-19). He later instructed him to purchase land, "And thou hast said unto me, O Lord GOD, Buy thee the field for money, and take witnesses; for the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans." (24:25). Without hesitation Jeremiah paid for the land, took receipts, registered the purchase, then handed over the documents in the presence of many witnesses.

This business transaction would have seemed ridiculous to those who had heard Jeremiah's repeated warnings of approaching destruction and captivity. But, Jeremiah had also proclaimed that the people would be restored to the land, and this purchase of land was evidence of his faith that the Sovereign God would fulfill His Word. Although Jeremiah could not see how God would accomplish the prophecy concerning the regathering of His people, Israel, his faith was in the unfailing Word of God.

Our faith in the Word of God can be measured by its effect upon our conduct. Even through failure of plans we can be sure that God is working in all things. In the midst of darkness and confusion we can maintain our faith that out of the darkness God can bring forth light. "I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness." (John 12:46).

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed through Jeremiah who acted as a kinsman-redeemer by purchasing the land of his cousin Hanameel even though he was in prison (Jeremiah 32:6-14). Jesus is our Kinsman-Redeemer who purchased our freedom from sin, hell, and the grave with His own blood on Calvary (I Corinthians 6:20).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
The day to day circumstances in our lives are so uncertain. The solutions to our problems can be very perplexing and seem beyond our grasp.  You don’t expect us to have all the right answers or to fully understand all that concerns us, but You do want us to trust You, as we hold on to Your unchanging hand.  Jesus, we have trusted You over and over throughout the circumstances of our lives, and today we pray for grace to trust You even more. In Jesus's name.....Amen.

Enjoy your day and week.

Facing Opposition 08.23.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Saturday August 23, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Jeremiah. Please read Chapters 29-31 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jerem iah%2029-31&version=9

Today we will read and learn about the letter written to the captive Jews in Babylon; the foretelling of their freedom and a full restoration of things. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that God's Word tells us to treat our enemies with kindness and in doing so we will overcome evil with good and be blessed.

Through Jeremiah, God repeatedly told the Jews that Jerusalem would be destroyed and the remaining Jews will be held captive in Babylon. This now became a reality and Jeremiah sends the Jews a letter, Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the residue of the elders which were carried away captives, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon;" (Jeremaih 29:1).

God let them know that they would not be lost and disappear, but would remain a distinct people. "Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all that are carried away captives, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem unto Babylon; Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them; Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; that ye may be increased there, and not diminished. And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace." (29:4-7). An amazing prophetic truth has been fulfilled and the once mighty empires of Assyria, Persia, Greece, and Rome have faded away.

During their captivity, Jeremiah taught them how to respond to the people who held them captive, "For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed. For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the LORD. For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place." (25:8-10). This means they were to pray for, and be a blessing to, their captors; and the Israelites, in turn, would be blessed by God.

This is a reminder to us that we are going to face situations where we feel we are held captive, such as marriage, kids, jobs, where we are going to be taken advantage of or even mistreated. Instead of living in pity and feeling sorry for ourselves or trying to seek revenge we need to put our trust in God and seek the best for our enemies. I know it can be hard to forgive, but unless we forgive we can not be forgiven by God or receive the blessings waiting for us. Besides, forgiving our enemies let's God take care of them for us. "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? if any man trust to himself that he is Christ's, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ's, even so are we Christ's." (II Corinthians 10:3-7).

Let us remember that there is a God,  a God who has purpose and design for both His people and the promised land.

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed through the One who forgives sin (Jeremiah 31:34). Through Jesus we are forgiven of our sins and made righteous in the eyes of God. "Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered." (Romans 4:6-7).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
I am full of gratitude today as I consider Your abiding presence in my life. You planned my existence in my mother's womb before I even drew my first breath.  When so many people have come into my life and exited it throughout the years You have taken up residence and You forever rule my heart. When the path before me was unclear You have always gone before me sustaining me in my wilderness journey. Though all forsake me You remain faithful, and remarkable as it seems, even if we are faithless, You will remain faithful. Thank you, Lord for not giving up on us and using us as examples that through You we can face any opposition. In Jesus' name.....Amen.

Enjoy the rest of your daya nd weekend.
God bless,
Christina

Compromising Our Faith 08.22.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Friday August 22, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Jeremiah. Please read Chapters 26-28 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jerem iah%2026-28&version=9

Today we will read and learn about the arrest of Jeremiah and the threat to put him to death; the prophecy of Judah's subjection to Nebuchadnezzar; Hananiah's false phrophecy and his death. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that we can not compromise our faith in God's Word regardless of the dangers that we face by the world.

About twenty-two years before the defeat and destruction of Jerusalem, God commanded Jeremiah to speak to the people of Judah about their coming fate. "Thus saith the LORD; Stand in the court of the LORD's house, and speak unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the LORD's house, all the words that I command thee to speak unto them; diminish not a word: If so be they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way, that I may repent me of the evil, which I purpose to do unto them because of the evil of their doings. And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD; If ye will not hearken to me, to walk in my law, which I have set before you, To hearken to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I sent unto you, both rising up early, and sending them, but ye have not hearkened; Then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth." (Jeremiah 26:2-6). Shiloh was the place where the Tabernacle was first erected by Joshua after he entered the promised land (Joshua 18:). But God eventually abandoned the Tabernacle of Shiloh because of the nation's constant sinning. Now, Shiloh was nothing but empty ruins and today no one is sure of its exact location, a reminder of how sin destroys a nation.

This devastating message from God caused the people to hate him and threaten to put him to death. "Now it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that the LORD had commanded him to speak unto all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people took him, saying, Thou shalt surely die." (26:8).

However, Jeremiah remained faithful and was ready to die rather than to allow the fear of his outcome to keep him from being faithful to God. "Then spake Jeremiah unto all the princes and to all the people, saying, The LORD sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that ye have heard. Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you. As for me, behold, I am in your hand: do with me as seemeth good and meet unto you. But know ye for certain, that if ye put me to death, ye shall surely bring innocent blood upon yourselves, and upon this city, and upon the inhabitants thereof: for of a truth the LORD hath sent me unto you to speak all these words in your ears. Then said the princes and all the people unto the priests and to the prophets; This man is not worthy to die: for he hath spoken to us in the name of the LORD our God." (26:12-16). Today Christians in many countries face fierce persecution for no other reason than pleading for people to repent of their sins and worshipping of false gods and to turn their ways over to the One & Only True God.

During the early part of Zedekiah's reign, God commanded Jeremiah to make a yoke and put it on his own neck. "Thus saith the LORD to me; Make thee bonds and yokes, and put them upon thy neck," (27:2). This symbolized the coming captivity of Judah to Nebuchadnezzer. Though Jeremiah God declared, "I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me. And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field have I given him also to serve him." (27:5-6).

When Jeremiah's prophecy was fulfilled and the Israelites were defeated by Nebuchadnezzar, it began the times of the Gentiles. "And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled." (Luke 21:24). During the times of Gentiles the Jews will return to Jerusalem and once again become a nation before the coming of Jesus and His reign. God has not let us know when that time will come, but it could be today, the next week, or the next century and it is up to us to be prepared when that takes place. Let us faithfully and diligently tell others how they too can be prepared for His return. Failure to be prepared will result in eternal damnation for all who do not receive Christ as their Savior and Lord.

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed through Jeremiah, who was falsely accused by the priests and the false prophets (Jeremiah 26:8-9). Our Lord was threatened and falsely accused by the religious rulers of His day. (Luke 22:66-23:2; John 8:48,59)

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
You know those to whom you are leading us to share the Gospel message.  Sometimes these folks are on our hearts for years and we've prayed for them time and again. Other times we are prompted by the Holy Spirit to speak to an individual we've never met. We know that you have given us all authority in heaven and on earth to go and make disciples of all nations.  It is not in our own strength, wisdom, personality or talents that we share the message of salvation to those who are lost.  It is in the power of Your Holy Spirit that we go forth bringing the message of hope and forgiveness to those who seek it.  Help us not to be discouraged when we don't see an immediate response for we know that we are all involved in the planting of spiritual seeds.  In Jesus' name.....Amen.

Have a wonderful, blessed day and weekend.
God bless,

Following The Correct Doctrine 08.21.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is August 21, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Jeremiah. Please read Chapters 23-25 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jerem iah%2023-25&version=9

Today we will read and learn about Judah's future restoration; the promises of Christ; lying prophets; good and bad figs; and the judgement upon Babylon foretold. Today's message focuses on the importance of following the correct doctrine and teachers of God. If we do not know the truth we will face many consequences.

Only a few months remained before the judgement upon Babylon took place and the destruction of the kingdom of Judah began. It was now too late to pray for Jerusalem or for the Temple to be saved from this destruction and through Jeremiah God warned the lying prophets, "For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, saith the LORD. Wherefore their way shall be unto them as slippery ways in the darkness: they shall be driven on, and fall therein: for I will bring evil upon them, even the year of their visitation, saith the LORD. And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied in Baal, and caused my people Israel to err. I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness; they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah. Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the prophets; Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall: for from the prophets of Jerusalem is profaneness gone forth into all the land." (Jeremiah 23:11-15).

Today, there are even more false prophets, pastors, and teachers proclaiming God's Word yet constantly live in sin. A true servant of God will let the Holy Spirit work in him/her and serve Him whole heartedly and turning away from the lusts of the world. Did you know that Satan knows the Bible? He will use anyone to give bits and pieces of the Bible in order to steer them into sin and destruction. That is why it is so important to study God's Word for yourself, to get around others who do the same, and to teach those who err due to false prophets.

Judah's last king, Zedekiah who was one of the most wicked kings, would soon suffer horribly and he watched his children die and later himself be captured, (See Kings 25). God compared Judah and Zedekiah to good and bad figs, "Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for their good. For I will set mine eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up. And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the LORD: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart. And as the evil figs, which cannot be eaten, they are so evil; surely thus saith the LORD, So will I give Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the residue of Jerusalem, that remain in this land, and them that dwell in the land of Egypt: And I will deliver them to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth for their hurt, to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places whither I shall drive them." (24:5-9). The good figs represented God's people who just needed help getting back on track, they were sent to be captives in Babylon in order to teach and correct them. The bad figs represent those who refuse to acknowldege God even that He exsists and continue to live in sin no matter what consequences they face.

These prophecies are grave reminders that sin and suffering go hand in hand. Most people on this earth feel shame and guilt when they know they have done something wrong and continue to do so. The further they get into their sin the more they suffer as they face more and more consequences.

Even while Babylon was conquering Judah Jeremiah assured them that they would be safe, "In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS." (23:6). When we receive Christ as our Savior He becomes for us THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed as THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. (Jeremiah 23:6).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Thank you for the countless people who have followed Your calling in their lives and spoke the truth about You. They chose to do Your will and because of their obedience our lives have been spiritually enriched.  Above all, we thank You for Jesus who chose to do Your will; who left the sinless portals of heaven to make His home among us so that we might see You clothed in flesh. Help us to be obedient to Your will for our lives. We want to hold loosely to this temporal passing world and direct our affections toward the eternal dwelling place where we will live forever with You. In Jesus' name....Amen.

Have a wonderful and blessed day!
God bless,

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Thursday August 21, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Jeremiah. Today's study will be in two parts as I was not able to get one out yesterday do to weather conditions here in Florida. Thank you for your patience and understanding this week.

Please read Chapters 19-22 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to the browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jerem iah%2019-22&version=9

Today we will read and learn about the beating and imprisonment of Jeremiah by Pashur; Jeremiah's grief; the destruction of Jerusalem foretold; and the way of life or death. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that doing God's Work does not go unnoticed. We are not alone nor failing, no matter what we feel God is with us and will bless us for our efforts.

During the last days of the kingdom of Judah, Jeremiah met with Pashur, the son of the high priest. "Now Pashur the son of Immer the priest, who was also chief governor in the house of the LORD., heard that Jeremiah prophesied these things. Then Pashur smote Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the high gate of Benjamin, which was by the house of the LORD" (Jeremiah 20:1-2).

He courageously faced Pashur, "For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will make thee a terror to thyself, and to all thy friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall behold it: and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them captive into Babylon, and shall slay them with the sword. Moreover I will deliver all the strength of this city, and all the labours thereof, and all the precious things thereof, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies, which shall spoil them, and take them, and carry them to Babylon. And thou, Pashur, and all that dwell in thine house shall go into captivity: and thou shalt come to Babylon, and there thou shalt die, and shalt be buried there, thou, and all thy friends, to whom thou hast prophesied lies." (20:4-6). Soon the people of Judah learned of the defeat of Assyria and then of Egypt.

Nebuchadnezzar's victory in the battle at Carchemish, Babylon emerged as the new dominant world power thus confirming what Isaiah had foretold about 100 years earlier (See Isaiah 39:6-7). Even after being fully informed of the results of rejecting the Word of God, the religious leaders not only refused to repent, but they began a campaign to discredit Jeremiah before the king and the nation.

Jeremiah sat alone in prison and was momentarily discouraged, "Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay." (20:9). Jeremiah may have thought that he had failed to communicate to the people the importance of obeying the Word of God. Most spiritual leaders and teachers have, at some time, felt that they failed in fulfilling their God-given responsibility. However, we never fully understand the impact that is placed by one person seeking to tell the truth. Jeremiah has been an inspiration to millions of believers for many succeeding centuries.

No one who is devoted to teaching the Word of God personally, or by providing the money to make it possible for others to teach His Word, and who lives by it is a failure. Jesus promised, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life." (John 5:24).

Have a safe and blessed day.
God bless,
Christina

God's Plan 08.19.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Tuesday August 19, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Jeremiah. Please read Chapters 15-18 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jerem iah%2015-18&version=9

Today we will read and learn about Jeremiah's prayer; the signs of Judah's captivity; regulations of the sabbath; a lesson from the potter; and God's power over all nations. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that we are God's people and He has a plan for each and every one of us.

Through Jeremiah God warned the Isrealites, "Then said the LORD unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth. And it shall come to pass, if they say unto thee, Whither shall we go forth? then thou shalt tell them, Thus saith the LORD; Such as are for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for the captivity, to the captivity." (Jeremiah 15:1-2). When they rejected God and His Word as their way of life, they forfeited the privilege of His protection and suffered tragic spiritual and physical loss.

People do not realize it, but God is father to every person here on the earth and just as a parent would love, protect, and correct his or her child God does the same for us. No matter how many times we make mistakes or try to do everything without guidance He loves us and never gives up on us, but there comes a time when enough is enough and we must suffer the consequences if we do not change our ways.

To understand the Israelites' problems and their final outcome if they did not repent of their ways, Jeremiah was sent to the potter's house to see a live demostration of what God was about to do. "The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words. Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it. Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying, O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel." (18:1-6). The marred vessel represented God's chosen people and the hardness of their hearts, when Isreal rejected the will of God they were marred by sin. The other vessel represented those who returned to God.

We are like earthen vessels and God has a special plan for each of us to be a vessel for His use, even though we too are distorted by sin. When we yield ourself to the Master Potter, with loving hands He will mold us again into another vessel, one better prepared to contain and express the Presence of Jesus Christ Himself. "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." (II Corinthians 5:17).

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed through Jeremiah who said to God: "Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts." (Jeremiah 15:16).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Your grace and tender mercies are present in the midst of perplexing situations that develop in our lives and the lives of those whom we love. Your sovereign power working within us takes the bad things that Satan hurls at us and turns them into testimonies of praise and thanksgiving when we seek to glorify You in the midst of our suffering. Through You are we blessed through our suffering. In Jesus' name.....Amen.

Have a great and blessed day!
God bless,
Christina

God's Commands 08.18.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Monday August 18, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Jeremiah. Please read Chapters 11-14 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jerem iah%2011-14&version=9

Today we will read and learn about Jeremiah's proclamation of God's Covenant; the plot against Jeremiah; his complaint; the ruined gridle; wine filled bottles; and a famine in the land. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that if we want God's power to flow through our lives we need to be obedient to His Word.

All Israelites were called to be holy and to serve the Lord and God didn't forget the conditions of His Covenant which He made with Israel as they entered the Promised Land. God told Jeremiah to remind them of their that covenant, "The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak unto the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem; And say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Cursed be the man that obeyeth not the words of this covenant, Which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God: That I may perform the oath which I have sworn unto your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day. Then answered I, and said, So be it, O LORD. Then the LORD said unto me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them." (Jeremiah 11:1-6).
God promised to provide for all of their needs, yet instead of obeying the covenant the majority of the people had forsaken Him to worship idols. God illustrated this by commanding Jeremiah to bury a girdle. "Thus saith the LORD unto me, Go and get thee a linen girdle, and put it upon thy loins, and put it not in water. So I got a girdle according to the word of the LORD, and put it on my loins. And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, Take the girdle that thou hast got, which is upon thy loins, and arise, go to Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the rock. So I went, and hid it by Euphrates, as the LORD commanded me. And it came to pass after many days, that the LORD said unto me, Arise, go to Euphrates, and take the girdle from thence, which I commanded thee to hide there. Then I went to Euphrates, and digged, and took the girdle from the place where I had hid it: and, behold, the girdle was marred, it was profitable for nothing." (13:1-7).

Although it seems strange that God would command Jeremiah to travel so far and bury a gridle until it was falling apart God has a plan and purpose for everything that He commands, even from us today. God continued and explained His purpose for this, "Thus saith the LORD, After this manner will I mar the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem. This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing. For as the girdle cleaveth to the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, saith the LORD; that they might be unto me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear." (13:9-11). The marred girdle represented their relationship with God, they were not profitable, they chose to follow false gods and live in sin rather than be blessed even more by following Him.

The inhabitants of Judah were the chosen people of God, and the kingdom that had access to Him above all other nations. They refused to accept the Word of God as it was spoken by Jeremiah and unfortunately were destroyed because of it.
Like the Isrealites, many today refuse to accept and obey the Word of God, they have wonderful God given talents yet reject the opportunity to use them according to God's Will. Unfortunately, many will discover this when it is too late and will see destruction as well. "Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears." (Hebrews 12:16-17).
In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed as the Hope of Israel and the Savior. (Jeremiah 14:8-9. Christ is not only the Hope of Israel, but of all mankind.
Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Jesus, help me to remain faithful to You and your calling upon my life. Strengthen and grow my faith as I daily search Your Scriptures and apply their truths to my spiritual walk. As I go through the trials and experiences of my earthly journey would You fix my eyes and my ever-wandering heart upon You. Search me, Lord and if there is any evil in me help me to break free from the bondage of it, repent and use my talents for Your glory. In Jesus' name.....Amen.
Have a great and wonderful day!
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Salvation & Sin

Salvation & Sin 08.17.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Sunday August 17, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Jeremiah. Please read Chapters 7-10 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jerem iah%207-10&version=9

Today we will read and learn about a plea for repentance; the punishment for Judah's rebellion; mourning over their sins; and the perishing of idols. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that salvation through Jesus does not give us the right to continue to live in sin. Salvation is a great gift and in order to thank God for it we need to change our ways.

At one time, all adult men who were physically able were required to attend three annual major events in Jerusalem. These events were to be full of joy and praise to God for His provision and protection but, this time Jeremiah did not give the crowd a joyful and warm welcome. "Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place. Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, are these. For if ye throughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye throughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbour; If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt: Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, for ever and ever." (Jeremiah 7:3-7).

Sadly, the people considered Jeremiah's preaching far too narrow-minded and would not tolerate this prophet of God. They were so confident that God would never allow them to be destroyed since they were His chosen people that they had a false sense of security and continued to sin. However, the Lord's Covenant's did not give His people the license to do whatever they please and live in constant sin without changing their ways. Jeremiah warns them, "The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom is in them? Therefore will I give their wives unto others, and their fields to them that shall inherit them: for every one from the least even unto the greatest is given to covetousness, from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely. For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace. Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall: in the time of their visitation they shall be cast down, saith the LORD. I will surely consume them, saith the LORD: there shall be no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree, and the leaf shall fade; and the things that I have given them shall pass away from them." (8:9-13). Some today even call themselves Christians, but they harbor secret sins and have unsubmitted hearts, but you can be sure that God knows everyones heart.

People foolishly assume that each person should have the freedom to worship whomever, or whatever, he chooses according to his own conscience, but this fails to consider the fallen and corrupted nature of man's soul when not knowing the Word of God. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6).

Have a great and wonderful day!

Bible Study: Studying God's Word

Studying God's Word 08.16.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Saturday August 16, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Jeremiah. Please read Chapters 4-6 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegatewa y.com/passage/?search=Jerem iah%204-6&version=9

Today we will read and learn about God's call for Israel; Jeremiah's sorrow for Judah; spiritual and civil corruption; and the destruction of Judah. Today's message focuses on the importance or understanding that reading and obeying God's Word keeps us from the destructive results of sin.

Jeremiah began his public ministry during the thirteenth year reign of King Josiah of Judah, and expo sed the worldly, compromising lifestyles of the Israelites. "Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying, Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not: Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it? But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone." (Jeremiah 5:20-23).
The reason for their lack of understanding was clear, they were rebellious against God in their hearts and wanted the things of the world. "Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you. For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men. As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich." (5:25-27).
Jeremiah laments (expresses deep sorrow) as they continued their sinful activities and idolatry, ignoring his warnings as sudden destruction speeds toward them. He was overwhelmed by what he saw coming yet nothing he said got his people to believe that they were headed for slavery. "To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it. Therefore I am full of the fury of the LORD; I am weary with holding in: I will pour it out upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of days. And their houses shall be turned unto others, with their fields and wives together: for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD. For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely." (6:10-13).

There is no possession more precious or priceless than freedom yet nothing is more depressing and degrading than being a slave. Slavery robs us of the power to make our own decisions and doing what we choose to do and believe in.
Sin slowly becomes slavery as it gains control of our lives, the struggling soul literally finds itself helpless and empty. Today, we are free and the person who freed us is Jesus Christ, He alone loosens the chains of bondage from sin. "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;" (Romans 3:23-25).
Today, we see a similar pattern of false gods and immorality just as Judah which lead to it's fall and destruction. That is why it is so important to read, study, and teach God's Word, He is our guide and warns us of the destruction that lies ahead if we continue with this pattern.
A true Christian desires to worship only the Lord and especially enjoys doing so with other believers where there is reading, studying, and obeying His Word.
In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed through Jeremiah, whom God commissioned to judge the ways of His people (Jeremiah 6:27). Jesus shall one day judge all mankind.
Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
You have warned us against false gods, prophets, and teachers. Lord, we are in need of good judgement as we abide in a world that does not want you to exsist. Watch over us, guide us and give us the wisdom we need to know what is true and what is false. Help us to read, study, and teach Your Truths to all who seek more than what the world has to offer. In Jesus' name.....Amen.
Enjoy the rest of your day and weekend.
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Peace Through Turmoil

08.14.08 (12:08 pm)   [edit]

Peace Through Turmoil 08.14.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Thursday August 14, 2008 and today we are completing our studies on the book of Isaiah. Please read Chapters 64-66 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & paste to browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Isaia h%2064-66&version=9

Today we will read and learn about our righteousness as filthy rags; a prayer for God's presence; and the punishment for rebelliousness. Today's message focuses on the importance of seeking God for peace. The more turmoil in our world, the more we need the peace that comes from obeying God's Word.

Isaiah's final prophecies about Jesus are included in these last three chapters, he also speaks of God's people being called by a new name and the creation of a new heaven and earth. "And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto my chosen: for the Lord GOD shall slay thee, and call his servants by another name: That he who blesseth himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from mine eyes. For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy." Isaiah 65:15-18).

There is a peace with God that is never ending, this peace is the promised inheritance of every child of God. Isaiah foretold how the Messiah would provide this marvelous peace, "For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees. As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem." (66:12-13).

God did not promise freedom from suffering, but He did promise to give us peace in the midst of them all. However, if we are to enjoy this peace we need to go to Him. God knows our problems and wants to help us, but unless we go to Him ourselves He will not intercede. It is just as if we are continually harrassed or hurt by someone and never seek help, nothing will be done about it until we actually ask for the help. "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." (Matthew 7:78).

The Lord will allow our hearts and faith to be tested by Satan to become troubled and afraid, but His Word is always available to calmly face all troubles and fears. Don't forget it is the source of victory. Since God created us, He did not overlook anything in His Guide through life and knows exactly what we need physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

There is often a conflict between self will and God's will and it is through suffering that God provides an opportunity in which His life in us through Christ may win the victory over our old self willed nature. "For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it." (Mark 8:35).

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed as the Creator of new heavens and a new earth (Isaiah 65:17; 66:22)

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
God of hope and joy, we sing for joy because you have given us hope and joy. Our world is full of problems, yet the coming of the Messiah is reason for hope. We have come to worship in your special presence. Give us wisdom as we go to our places in daily life. Teach us and guide us as we deal with the problems of our world. In Jesus' name.....Amen.

Have a great and blessed day!
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Fasting & Prayer

Fasting & Prayer 08.13.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Wednesday August 13, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book Isaiah. Please read Chapters 58-63 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Isaia h%2058-63&version=9

Today we will read and learn about true fasting; sin, confession, and redemption; the future glory of Jerusalem; the day of vengeance; and God's loving kindness toward Israel. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that we need to really think about what we are praying to God and the steps we take in order to have our prayers answered.

Our prayers and fasting are effective only when our attitude and our relationship with others unconditionally expresses the mercy and love of God. God knows our real motives and intents when we fast and through Isaiah explains the incorrect and proper way in which to do so. "Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high. Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD? Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy reward." (Isaiah 58:4-8).

God reveals that fasting is not a way to impress the world of hpw religious they were, but a way to break free from the bondage of sins as well as seeking refuge when one is full of burdens or ill. Fasting brings us closer to God and helps us to put others before ourselves, we are to go about our day helping others and use the time when we are hungry to meditate on God's Word and prayer.

Jesus stood in the synagogue in Nazareth and read these words, "The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound (bruised);" (61:1 See Luke 4:18). He is the Promised Messiah, Son of David, the Savior, the Redeemer of the world. Unto Him the Spirit was given without measure and He is the anointed of God.
Like captive slaves, we are by nature in bondage to sin, to the flesh, and to the world. Christ has come to proclaim liberty and to break the chains of the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual captivity to all who will repent of their sin, be born again, and then follow Him as Lord of their lives.
In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed as the One anointed to preach Good Tidings (Isaiah 61:1). Jesus read this passage to the rulers of the synagogue (Luke 4:16-22) but stopped before the completion of the second verse, thus showing that, although He fulfilled the first part, the second part, the day of judgment was yet to be fulfilled.
Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Teach me to pray and if there is any evil in what I am asking please reveal it to me. Watch over me, guide me and help me to know Your Will for me. Give me peace and comfort and help me to stay faithful to learning Your Word and applying it to my walk here on earth. Lord, also help me to seek You in all that I do and to follow You as the Lord of my Life. In Jesus' name.....Amen.

Enjoy the rest of your day!
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: A Saviour From Sin

A Saviour From Sin 08.12.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Tuesday July 12, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Isaiah, Please read Chapters 52-57 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Isaia h%2052-57&version=9

Today we will read and learn about the foretelling of Christ to bear our grief, the suffering, and sin; the Lord's everlasting love for Israel; that everyone is a sinner; and a call to faith and repentance. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that there is no more important message in all the world than the Good News that Jesus died for our sins.

The Jews of the first century were looking for a warrior-king, like David, to deliver them from the oppression of Rome. However, Isaiah had foretold of the Messiah, "Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high. As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men: So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they consider." (Isaiah 52:13-15).

Written seven centuries before Christ died on the cross God revealed to this to Isaiah. It is so vivid that it seems Isaiah is standing right there at the foot of the cross describing the Savior's sacrifice and suffering to us. "He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all." (53:3-6).

Isaiah foretold of the suffering that Jesus would have to endure to redeem a sinner. As we read the first four books of the New Testament, we realize that these prophecies of Isaiah, from naming the place of Christ's birth, His significant birth, to the specific details of His sacrificial death and resurrection, were all fulfilled.

Christ suffered and died on the cross in our place and conquered death by His resurrection. It was on the cross that He revealed His love and made the supreme sacrifice so each one of us could receive forgiveness for our sins. "And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem." (Luke 24:44-47).

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed as the One who was rejected by His own people (Isaiah 53:3), remained silent when He was falsely accused (Isaiah 53:7), was buried with the rich (Isaiah 53:9), and was crucified with sinners (Isaiah 53:12).

Today's Prayer:

Dear Lord,
Nothing brings abiding peace more than knowing that we are saved from the penalty of sin and that we are firmly grounded in Your holy precepts. It makes us feel safe in a struggling world that continues to search for knowledge from all the wrong sources. We are sound in our outlook when we align our understanding and convictions with the teachings of Christ, His disciples and the prophets of old. In You we are saved and we are sound. In Your mighty name Jesus.....Amen.

Have a wonderful and blessed day!
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Faith Through Suffering

08.11.08 (3:52 pm)   [edit]

08.11.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Monday August 11, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Isaiah. Please read Chapters 47-51 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Isaia h%2047-51&version=9

Today we will read and learn about the Judgment on Babylon; the rebuke of Israel; Christ, a Light to the Gentiles; the restoration of Israel; and the suffering of the Lord's servant. Today's message focuses on the imporatace of realizing that no matter how much we suffer we must not lose sight of God. All suffering strengthens us and helps us to develop our faith and trust in Him.

We expect judgment upon the ungodly, or upon the backslider, but many Christians do not understand why sincere believers experience so many critical situations. Many think that they should be expempt to suffer because they follow Jesus, but whether we are Christian or not we all face trials in our lives.

However, there is a major difference when we put our faith and trust in the Lord. Isaiah encourages us to remain faithful, regardless of the circumstances, even though we cannot see why we face so many difficulties. "Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go." (Isaiah 48:17). God will bring blessings out of suffering and triumph out of tragedy for every child of God. He teaches us and creates us into the people He intended for us to be. "For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed. He is near that justifieth me; who will contend with me? let us stand together: who is mine adversary? let him come near to me. Behold, the Lord GOD will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? lo, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up. "(50:7-9).

Heartbreaking experiences are a test of our faith, as well as a means of our developing greater faith. There are countless examples throughout the Old and New Testamaents that show triumph out of tradegy, such as Job, who God refered to as the most perfect man on earth, he suffered more than anyone in biblical history except Jesus and was blessed abundantly after enduring his affliction. Job's faith remained strong because he knew that God was in control of his life. The Apostle James, who later suffered martyrdom for his faith in Jesus as the Christ, encouraged believers, "Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience. Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy. But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation. Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms." (James 5:10-13).

Each of us can expect testing from the Lord, as well as temptation from the forces of evil; so do not be dismayed if one day your whole world crumbles and it seems that the Lord has abandoned you because He is right there with You waiting for you to call on Him and put your faith and trust in Him.
Jesus explained to His disciples that, because the world hated Him, it would also hate them. Once we accept Jesus as our Saviour we too become desciples therefore we are treated the same way. "If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me." (John 15:18-21).
Peter reminds us, "Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy." (I Peter 4:12-13).
In today's message Jesus Christ is revealed as the Light of the nations (Isaiah 49:6) to bring the Light of salvation to all the nations of the earth.
Today's Prayer
Dear Lord,
Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me. Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause. Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day. In Jesus' name.....Amen. (From Psalm 25:1-5).
Have a great and blessed day and week.
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: God's Assurance

God's Assurance 08.10.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Sunday August 10, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Isaiah. Please read Chapters 43-46 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Isaia h%2043-46&version=9

Today we will read and learn about God's care for Israel; the foolsihness of idolatry; the destruction and rebuilding of Jerusalem and the Temple; God's purpose for Cyrus; the power of the Lord and the weakness of idols. Today's message focuses on the importance of realzing that no matter how high the walls of opposition are, God knows how to win the battles of our lives and assures us through His Word that we can endure all affliction.

The Lord's love and mercy in these chapters assures Israel that they will be redeemed, restored, and be His witness. Through Isaiah, God foretold Israel of the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple. However, at that time the nation was still enjoying freedom, prosperity and felt very secure and rejected Isaiah's prophecy. "Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and shew us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth. Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour. I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God." (Isaiah 43:9-12)

At that time, Babylon, the capital city of the Chaldean dynasty, was surrounded by massive walls about 300 feet high. The Babylonians were certain that no one could invade their great city. However, Isaiah foretold that a man named Cyrus would conquer Babylon 150 years before it took place. "Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself; That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish; That confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, Ye shall be built, and I will raise up the decayed places thereof: That saith to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers: That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid." (Isaiah 44:24-28).

Babylon thought itself invincible because of its walls, as well as the great brass gates spanning the Euphrates which ran through its center. However, God declared exactly how the city would be taken by the armies of Cyrus. The river would dry up and the Lord would see that the gates across it would be left unlocked. And that is exactly what happened when Darius, the Mede, under the rule of Cyrus entered the city the same fateful night that King Belshazzar of Babylon saw the handwriting of God on the wall (See Daniel 5:1-31). Only the Spirit of God could have given Isaiah such amazing details about Cyrus at least 150 years before he was born.

Many also see this as Babylon's fall in Revelation. At the end of the kingdom of Judah's 70 years of captivity, this was fulfilled exactly as foretold by the prophet. This fact should dispel all doubt regarding the Lord's loving concern and care for His followers. No prophecy seemed more unlikely to be fulfilled. Yet, all these things happened exactly as Isaiah foretold.

Even though Jerusalem faced destruction they had the assurance of God that through it all they will be safe, protected, and blessed even more as they endure their affliction. All who put their trust and faith in God will receive the same love, protection and blessings that we read here in this wonderful book. "He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah." (Psalm 62:6-8).

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed As the Redeemer (Isaiah 43:1; 44:22-24). Through His death on the cross, Christ has redeemed (bought back) all who trust Him as Savior.

In Jesus name.....Amen.

Have a great and blessed Lord's day.
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Power of Prayer

The Power of Prayer 08.09.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Saturday August 9, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Isaiah. Please read Chapters 38-42 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Isaia h%2038-42&version=9

Today we will read and learn about the added years of Hezekiah's life; the captivity of Babylonian foretold; comfort for God's people; and a song of praise to the Lord. Today we will learn the importance of praying no matter what difficulties we face. There is great power in prayer, especially when things look hopeless.

About 13 years had passed since Isaiah brought Hezekiah, king of Judah, the exciting news that the southern kingdom would be miraculously saved from the invincible armies of the Assyrian Empire, but this time Isaiah met him when he was deathly ill. "In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live." (Isaiah 38:1).
With intense weeping Hezekiah prayed to God, "Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore." (38:2-3). God listened and spoke to Isaiah, "Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years." (38:5).
We should never hesitate to pray, regardless of how hopeless our circumstances may appear. However, this does not mean that God always answers every prayer in the way we want or according to our timing. God takes every prayer seriously and answers all with deep consideration in what we are asking Him, such as if are we able to handle what we are asking or if it will harm us or someone else. Often a prayer is answered in an even better way than we expect.
Since we often fall short in our desire to be like Jesus, many people find it easy to accept the condemnation of Satan that we are too unworthy for God to answer our prayers. Although it is right to assess our faults and confess our sins, it also magnifies the grace of God to recognize the good in our lives just as Hezekiah did. We can also remind the Lord of our sincere endeavors to live God honoring lives, which are only produced as we surrender to the inner working of the Holy Spirit.
In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed as the Creator (Isaiah 40:28), the Shepherd (Isaiah 40:11), and the Redeemer (Isaiah 41:14).

In Jesus name.....Amen.
Enjoy the rest of your night and weekend.
God Bless,

Bible Study: Impossible to Possible

08.08.08 (7:28 pm)   [edit]

Impossible to Possible Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Friday August 8, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Isaiah. Please read Chapters 32-37 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Isaia h%2032-37&version=9

Today we will read and learn about the Righteous King foretold; the judgment upon nations pronounced; a threat upon Jerusalem; Hezekiah's prayer; and the destruction of the Assyrians. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that our all powerful God is able to handle all of our problems. He changes the impossible to the possible.

Just eight years after he invaded and destroyed the Northern Kingdom, Sennacherib, king of Assyria, attacked Judah. "Now it came to pass in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, that Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the defenced cities of Judah, and took them." (Isaiah 36:1). It was during this crisis that King Hezekiah expressed his trust in God. Hezekiah confidently told his nation that God is with them and sought to influence and lead his people to trust in God as their only hope of survival against Assyria.

The walled cities were no match for the might of Sennacherib's army. In one military campaign he quickly defeated 46 of the towns and villages of the small southern kingdom. He carried away into captivity about 200,000 of its inhabitants. At that time, all of western Asia was under Assyria's control, including the once powerful Babylonia, Media, Armenia, Syria, Phoenicia, Philistia, Edom, and most of the promised land.

Feeling secure in the might of his army, Sennacherib sent word to the people of Jerusalem saying that Hezekiah is decieving them by telling them to trust in God and urged them to follow him instead. "Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you. Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us: this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria. Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me: and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern; Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards." (36:14-17).

Upon hearing this demand, King Hezekiah immediately did what we all should do when we receive bad news. He went to the house of God and prayed, "And Hezekiah prayed unto the LORD, saying, O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, that dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou hast made heaven and earth. Incline thine ear, O LORD, and hear; open thine eyes, O LORD, and see: and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent to reproach the living God. Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the nations, and their countries, And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them. Now therefore, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD, even thou only." (37:15-20). That night the angels of the Lord destroyed the Assyrian's killing 185,000 soldiers. "Then the angel of the LORD went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses." (37:36).

It is important that, like Hezekiah, we pray and trust the Lord for all of our needs. It is foolish to think we can stand against the tricks and schemes against the devil all on our own. Even family members and friends can be used by the devil to unknowingly cause us to seek God in the midst of our troubles. "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." (Ephesians 6:11-13). God is waiting for us to place our trust in Him and to put on His armour to withstand the devil and all his tricks of getting us to fall away from Him.

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed as the great, unmovable Rock (Isaiah 32:2). Christ is always available to provide rest, comfort and security. "The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower." (Psalm 18:2).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Lord Jesus, often the daily grind is not appealing as I awaken each morning to the tasks before me.  Sometimes the routine seems endless and at times pointless.  I find myself lacking fulfillment in this aspect of my life and yet it requires the majority of my time and focus.  Jesus, please help me to find the hidden strength that only comes from seeking You to deal with the negative attitudes that tempt me daily.  Help me also to look beyond the immediate to the deeper meaning of each day's task.  Above all, help me to keep my eyes on spiritual truths as I meditate upon Your Word and apply its meaning to my life each new day. It is in this faithful practice of placing You at the center of my focus that I can rise above the difficulties that come my way.  May You restore to me, this day, the joy of Your salvation and renew a steadfast spirit within me. In Jesus name.....Amen.

Have a great and blessed day and weekend!
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Your Faith in God

08.08.08 (7:16 pm)   [edit]

Your Faith in God 08.07.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Thursday August 7, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Isaiah. Please read Chapters 27-31 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Isaia h%2027-31&version=9

Today we will read and learn about the judgment of Ephraim; Jerusalem's warning; Israel's rebuke for its alliance with Egypt; and their future destiny assured. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that we need to have faith in God. He is the One that created all things and can do what seems to us to be impossible.

The magnificent northern kingdom of Israel was enjoying great prosperity when the Lord led Isaiah to prophesy its coming captivity by Assyria. "And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall beat off from the channel of the river unto the stream of Egypt, and ye shall be gathered one by one, O ye children of Israel. And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem." (Isaiah 27:12-13).

Isaiah declared, "Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which are on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine! Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one, which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand. The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under feet: And the glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley, shall be a fading flower, and as the hasty fruit before the summer; which when he that looketh upon it seeth, while it is yet in his hand he eateth it up." (28:1-4).

Fearing an Assyrian attack, King Hezekiah sent his ambassadors to Egypt with a large amount of wealth. They were requesting military aid and desiring to make a treaty with Egypt, a nation that had been a great world power for centuries. From a human point of view, this seemed to be the only possible means of security against Assyria. Egypt had a great military system, including numerous chariots and horses. In addition, Ethiopia was closely associated with Egypt, and the combined armies of these two powerful nations would seem invincible. However, Isaiah warned them against seeking aid from the wrong people. "Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin: That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt! Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion." (30:1-3).

When danger threatens, do we immediately seek counsel of our friends and professional advisers? Or do we, through daily searching of His Word, discern God's principles of direction and then, in prayer, trust Him wholeheartedly to enlighten our understanding concerning the specific problem before us?

We can praise the Lord that while there is life, there is still hope. We make the mistake of trying to do what we think is right instead of putting our faith in God only to fall even more. However, God will never let us suffer with anything that we cannot handle or get out of. Therefore it is important for us to live by faith. "For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith." (Romans 1:7).

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed through a tried Stone, a precious Corner Stone, a sure foundation (Isaiah 28:16). Jesus became the Chief Corner Stone.

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from You. As recipients of Your tender compassions and tremendous comfort help us to be like cisterns pouring out the mercies we receive from You into the lives of those who desperately need it.

Have a great and blessed day!
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Peace With Jesus

Peace With Jesus 08.06.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Wednesday August 8, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Isaiah. Please read Chapters 22-26 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Isaia h%2022-26&version=9

Today we will read and learn about the prophecy of Jerusalem; the destruction of Babylon and Tyre; Isaiah glorifying God; and God's dominion over Judah. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that we often forfeit His peace by choosing to disobey His Word. Disobedience causes guilt and guilt robs us of His peace.

Isaiah's prophecy of Christ was first directed to Judah, then to Israel, then to the surrounding Gentile nations, and finally to all the world. "He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it. And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation." (Isaiah 25:8-9).

Just as surely as many of the prophecies were fulfilled in ancient history, we can also expect that the Messiah Jesus will return as Christ the King. He will give eternal life to both Jews and Gentiles who have received Him as Lord of their lives.

Many believers are actually experiencing unnecessary frustration through manifold temptations, sorrows, suffering, and disappointments that overshadow Christ's presence. His peace becomes more like the uncertain weather or wind on a dark night. "Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:" (26:2-4).

Sometimes God has been pleased to withdraw our assurance of His presence for a season in order to strengthen our faith in Him. "Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby." (Hebrews 12:11).

His presence does not depend on our feelings, which are as changeable as the clouds, but in the unchangeableness of His love. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." (Hebrews 11:1).

Our independent, self-sufficient human nature does not willingly renounce its self-sufficiency. His peace is experienced when we recognize that He will not withhold anything from us. He will always bless us with the things that we are need and desire as long as we are not asking for things that will harm us or others.

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed through Eliakim, master of Hezekiah's household (Isaiah 22:20-22); what was said of him is true of Christ who is also Master over the household of faith.

In Jesus name.....Amen.

Have a wonderful and blessed day!
God Bless you,
Christina

Bible Study: Success

Success 08.05.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Tuesday August 5, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Isaiah. Please read Chapters 15-21 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Isaia h%2015-21&version=9

Today we will read and learn about the prophesy of Moab's ruin; a threat upon Syria (Aram) and Israel; God's judgments; Egypt urged to worship the Lord; and the captivity of Egypt is foretold. Today's message focuses on the importance of seeking God in order to be successful in all that we do.

The prophet Isaiah was led to turn his thoughts from the glorious future reign of the King of Peace to proclaim the judgment of God upon the unbelieving. "The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap. The cities of Aroer are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid. The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts." (Isaiah 17:1-3). The fortress of Ephraim refers to the ten-tribe northern kingdom, a symbol of wealth, power, and self-glory, which would be ruthlessly destroyed by Assyria.

Isaiah foretold that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin and would be like wasted wheat left scattered on the ground after the harvest had been gathered. "And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean. And it shall be as when the harvestman gathereth the corn, and reapeth the ears with his arm; and it shall be as he that gathereth ears in the valley of Rephaim. Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the LORD God of Israel." (17:4-6)

The destruction would be complete and, as a result, the few who were left would realize that it was the result of their sin and would recognize that turning to God was their only hope. "At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel. And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images." (17:7-8).

When the Christian looks out upon the world, he sees himself surrounded as by a dark night of unbelief and sin. One sees only moral and spiritual night because evil men love darkness rather than light. God's children alone have a glorious light within them. Every earnest Christian is to be a watchman who longs for the advent of Christ's coming and the world's new morning.

Nothing hides the will of God from view as deceptively as success and pride, both of which foster self-sufficiency. It is one thing to be successful, but when that success takes us away from giving God the glory we will eventually fall. Jesus cautions us, "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." (Matthew 6:19-21). Wealth accumulated for self-interest may lead to greed and can weaken our faith leaving us to become jealous and envious of others no matter how successful we become.

The Lord is able to speak to each of us personally as to how He would have us invest in transforming lives and fulfilling His Great Commission. "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen." (Matthew 28:19-20).

Putting God first will lead us to success in all that we do far beyond what we ever imagined. "Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life." (I Timothy 6:17-19).

In today's lesson Jesus Christ is revealed as the One who will sit on the throne of David (Isaiah 16:5). "He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end." (Luke 1:32-33).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
As Your children we need to regularly examine our hearts to see if there are things, pursuits, or attitudes that are drawing us away from Your heart and thrusting us once again into the mindset of the world. Our heart's examinations are not intended to condemn us, but to refresh our spirit and remind us of our godly heritage. Father, since You know our hearts more than we do ourselves, reveal to us that which helps and that which hinders our Christian walk. As we walk in obedience to You we are grateful for the peace and rest we receive in knowing that You do not condemn us, but deliver mercy to help us in our time of need. You do not stand over us in judgment, but You walk alongside us assuring us of Your unwavering love and unending mercy that will see us through on this side of the journey. In Jesus' name....Amen.

Have a great and blessed day!
God Bless,
Christina

Quench Your Thirst 07.04.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Monday August 4, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Isaiah. Please read Chapters 10-14 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Isaia h%2010-14&version=9

Today we will read and learn about Assyria to be broken; the promise of Israel's restoration; Christ, the Branch; thanksgiving for God's mercies; Babylon's doom predicted; and Israel's  preservation. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that our soul thirsts for the Living Water who is Jesus. The hard times that come to our lives give opportunity to show the operation of God's grace to a thirsty world.

Isaiah foretold the return of Jesus to earth and His glorious millennial reign, "And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth: with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked." (Isaiah 11:1-4). The promise made through Isaiah of the Ruler who would come from King David, the Root of Jesse, is far-reaching and anticipates the millennial reign of Christ to be followed by the new heavens and the new earth.

Salvation and fellowship with Jesus are two great themes of the Bible. All who trust in His Word receive the Living Water of Salvation and have experienced spiritual satisfaction beyond compare. "And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me. Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation." (12:1-3). It then becomes our way of life and our greatest joy is to lead others to the wellspring of eternal life. His well of life giving water is truly overflowing and inexhaustible just as the nature of God.

Jesus said to the Samaritan woman, "But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life." (John 4:14). His invitation is to come to the wells of salvation. All the wells of salvation are in Christ; and from Him the believer receives the priceless water that satisfies the truly thirsty. "In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water." (John 7:37-38).

We can not afford to neglect the joy of drawing from the water of salvation provided in His Word for the day-by-day cleansing from all sin. There is a precious assurance of acceptance and fellowship with God. This comfort is real, abiding, and inexpressibly precious.

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed as the Descendant of Jesse, King David's father (Isaiah 11:1). Isaiah 11 reveals Christ's earthly rule of righteousness.

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
We earnestly seek You for wisdom regarding the daily circumstances of our lives. Help us to incline our hearts toward You for understanding all that You have to teach us in the lessons of life. During the quiet sessions when Your voice seems silent help us to trust You knowing that You work all things out for our good,  for Your glory, and in Your time. Help us to quench our thirst on the Living Water that we need to keep us from drying out. In Jesus' name.....Amen.

Have a great and wonderful day and week!
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Our Mighty Creator

Our Mighty Creator 08.03.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Sunday August 3, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Isaiah. Please read Chapters 5-9 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Isaia h%205-9&version=9

Today we will read and learn about God's judgment upon sinners; Isaiah's vision of God's holiness; his message for King Ahaz; and the foretelling of Christ's birth and His Kingdom. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that God calls us to be holy in our hearts and our lives in order that we may be effective witnesses.

Isaiah the prophet lived in Jerusalem, the capital of Judah. His ministry continued for 50 to 60 years through the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, Hezekiah, and possibly Manasseh. "In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the LORD sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts." (Isaiah 6:1-5). Isaiah saw himself as utterly unfit to stand in the presence of the Almighty Holy One. For guilty men there is cleansing; and lips, once unclean, can be made holy. The greatest obstacle is self-satisfaction and self-sufficiency.

When we see God as the Holy and Mighty Creator, like Isaiah, we can't help but see ourselves as unclean. This self-evaluation is made in response to the fact that we have seen the Most Holy God. He submitted himself as an instrument in God's hand in self-surrender. He was ready to go where God might lead him.

Isaiah was called to prophesy to an unbelieving and sinful generation that had forsaken God, "And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed. Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate, And the LORD have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land." (6:9-12). It was an age of international political tension and prosperity when only a minority in the kingdom of Judah remained faithful to God. The Northern Kingdom of Israel, under Jeroboam II, also was enjoying prosperity; but it was even more corrupt than Judah.

In the midst of evil and unbelief, God foretold the coming Messiah to Isaiah to proclaim it to an evil king, "And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also? Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good." (7:13-15). The name Immanuel means "God with us." Not only does the prophet foretell the virgin birth of Jesus, but he also reveals His deity. He received also another glorious revelation of Christ, "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." (9:6).

We recognize the fulfillment of that prophecy in Jesus, who was born and later crucified, providing eternal life to all believers by dying on the cross for our sins and by His triumph over death. Not only was His first advent declared, but also His second. We can rejoice as we look forward to the time when He will reign in righteousness on earth as the most Wonderful Counselor.

The call of God demands that we be faithful, not always successful. Men measure by success, but God by faithfulness.

In today's message Jesus Christ is revealed as Immnauel (Isaiah 7:13). Other prophecies concerning Jesus are found in Isaiah 8:14, 9:2,6-7.

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
We are so very grateful that our family roots are not the sole source of who we are nor does it dictate what we can accomplish. Our spiritual roots, because of our well-grounded faith in You, goes much deeper and spreads much broader. We are able to accomplish the impossible and overcome life’s difficulties because our roots are connected to the True Miracle Worker and that is You.  May the water of Your Holy Spirit quench our thirst and the spiritual food from Your inspired Holy Word satisfy our hunger causing us to grow in spiritual maturity. We remain safe and securely rooted in You, Lord, though the winds and storms may shake us from time to time. It is in You that we live and move and have our being! In Jesus' name.....Amen.

Have a great and wonderful Lord's day!
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: God's Mercy & Grace

God's Mercy & Grace 08.02.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Saturday August 2, 2008 and today we will begin our studies on the book of Isaiah. Please read Chapters 1-4 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Isaia h%201-4&version=9

Today we will read and learn about Judah's sins, Isaiah's plea to Judah, God's reasoning with Judah, and Isaiah foretelling Judah's defeat. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing the God forgives all of our sins and to set aside a special time daily to give God thanks for being so merciful and gracious.

The book of Isaiah is the twenty-third book of the Old Testament and contains 66 chapters. The book is the beginning of the last group of books which are the Books of Prophesy. These books contain the writting of the prophets that God used to call His people back to Him. The book is often compared to the entire Bible as it contains the same subjects in both new and old testaments. The book was written by Isaiah to Judah and warns of coming judgment against them because of their sins against God. The purpose of the book is to teach us about correction and rebuke, rebellion leads to punishment, and repentance leads to restoration.

Isaiah opens revealing his credentials, "The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah." (Isaiah 1:1). Judah had been chosen to be the Lord's instrument of blessing to all nations, but they rejected His Word and became a sinful nation. "Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward." (1:4)

Isaiah was greatly burdened over the sins of the nation of Judah and pleaded with them to listen to God. "Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah." (1:10). Even their worship had become an abomination, "Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting. Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them." (1:13-14).

The outflow of holy displeasure contained in earlier portions of this chapter should prepare us to expect an everlasting condemnation upon all sinners. But, instead, it is surprisingly followed by the most loving appeal ever presented by God all of His creation. "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:" (1:18-19).

Isaiah foretold Judah's devasting defeat, "And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty. Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war. And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit upon the ground." (3:24-26).

As repulsive as sin is to God His loving arms are extended to forgive, to restore, and to comfort all who will come to Him and ask for forgiveness.

It is by His mercy and grace that we are forgiven, "Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." (Hebrews 4:14-16). And any sin that is repented is wiped away from the "book of life" never to be remembered. "He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels." (Revelation 3:5).

Let us daily meditate and pray the prayer that Jesus has taught us, "After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen." (Matthew 6:9-13).

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed as the One who will judge the nations (Isaiah 2:2-4). Jesus will judge us all, "I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;" (II timothy 4:1).

Today's prayer:
Dear Lord,
Nothing brings abiding peace more than knowing that we are saved from the penalty of sin and that we are firmly forgiven by Your mercy and grace. It makes us feel safe in a struggling world that continues to search for knowledge from all the wrong sources. Our wisdom is based upon our knowledge and understanding of You, our eternal Father, the One who changes not. In You we are saved and protected. In Jesus' name.....Amen.

Have a wonderful day and weekend!
God bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Jesus - Our Bridegroom

Jesus, Our Bridegroom 08.01.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

It is Friday August 1, 2008 and today we are studying the book of Songs of Solomon. Please read Chapters 1-8 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser:
biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Song% 20of%20Solomon%201-8& version=9

Today we will read and learn about the virtues of married love and the symbolic of Christ's love for the Church. Today's messages compares marriage to our relationship with Jesus

Song of Solomon is the twenty-second book of the Old Testament and contains 8 chapters. The book was written by King Solomon to the people in Isreal and all believers. The purpose of the book is to show the relationship between Jesus and the Church as demonstrated by the marriage relationship. What we are to learn from the book is the divine model of love between a man and his wife as the pattern for a relationship between Christ and the Church. Solomon represents the bridegroom (Jesus Christ) and the Shulamite girl is the bride (the Church).

The wholesome enjoyment of married love between a man and a woman is expressed and begins with categorical language in the delight of the bridegroom in the bride and of the bride in her bridegroom. "The song of songs, which is Solomon's. Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine. Because of the savour of thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love thee. Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee." (Song of Solomon 1:1-4).

As the bride, we also wait with great anticipation for the return of our Bridegroom Jesus when we too will be able to say. "He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love." (2:4).

Sometimes we enjoy a very close sense of the presence of Christ. But, all too often, His presence seems far away. Yet our love for Him continues to grow as we wait expectantly for that first glimpse of Him when He welcomes us home as His bride. "My beloved is mine, and I am his: he feedeth among the lilies." (2:16). Every believer is assured that my beloved is mine, and I am his, for Jesus Christ has entered into our very lives. Our love relationship continues to grow and deepen as we listen to Him speak to us as we read His Word. We become different persons by virtue of our relationship with the coming Bridegroom

The reading of this song should lead us to praise the Creator who made the human body. It was God who led Eve, the first bride, to Adam her admiring bridegroom. Seeing and experiencing the purity and holiness of this earthly bond of love instituted by God will also lead us to a better understanding of and appreciation for that love relationship which is heavenly and eternal, the love relationship that should exist in the believer's heart toward his Lord and His Church.

Many see in this song a parable of the great love of Christ for His Church and the believer's desire for and enjoyment of Christ's love. In fact, the Apostle Paul used marriage to illustrate the bond of love which exists between Christ and His Church (See Ephesians 5:22-33).

"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." (Galatians 2:20).

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed As the chiefest among ten thousand, (The Song of Solomon 5:10). Jesus is, "KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS." (Revelation 19:16b).

As the chiefest among ten thousand, (The Song of Solomon 5:10). Jesus is, "" (Revelation 19:16b).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
This journey of faith began for those who believe, the moment we accepted Jesus as our Saviour.  After we repented of our sins we began this faith journey and the milestones along the way have assured us that the route we're on leads to eternal life. We reject the philosophies that originate from this world and follow Your roadmap that keeps us on the highway of holiness. The marvelous blessing is that at the end of this earthly journey is really only the beginning of eternal bliss!  Thank you, Jesus! In your mighty name, I pray......Amen.

Have a great and wonderful Friday and  weekend.
God bless,
Christina
