A Small Sacrifice 10.30.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are continuing our studies on the book of Luke, please read Chapters 21-22 in your Bible or you can Click Here to read them online. If the link does not work you can copy and paste this link to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke% 2021-22&version=9

Today we will read about the widow's offering; Jesus' last Passover; the Lord's supper; Jesus praying in the garden; Jesus' arrest, and Peter denying that he knew Jesus. Today's message focuses on the importance of sacrifice. Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice in order to give us a great life. No matter how much we have we too need to sacrifice a little of our time, money, or possesions on those less fortunate than us.

Jesus and His disciples were in the Temple and while the disciples were admiring the beautiful stonework and the wealthy worshippers offering their gifts Jesus had been observing a poor widow. "And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had." (Luke 21:1-4)

If you did not realize it, God does pay attention to what we give, what we have, as well as what we do not give. This poor widow woman never thought that her tiny gift was of any worth, but her sacrifice to give something made her a wealthy woman in the eyes of God. The blessing of the Lord is upon the offering that expresses the heartfelt gratitude and self denial of the giver. To follow Christ faithfully, often Christians must give up self interests when we have an opportunity to serve the Lord by helping someone. It is by unselfish love, like that of Jesus, that the world has been redeemed.

The annual Passover meal was always a reminder to the Israelites that the blood of an innocent lamb made it possible for a sinner to be redeemed from death. Also, their

obedience to the Word of God made it possible for their ancestors to be
set free from Pharaoh and Egyptian slavery, in order to enjoy freedom in the promised land.
Jesus got ready for His last Passover meal here on earth. "Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed. And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat. And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare? And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in. And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples? And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready. And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover." (Luke 22:7-13).
As they sat at the table Jesus identified Himself with the sacrificial Passover Lamb. "And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you." (22:17-20).
Just as the sacrifical lamb made it possible for the Isrealites to enjoy freedom, the Lord's Supper made it possible for all of us to enjoy freedom from Satan's captivity. His death on the cross saved us from eternal death and set us free from the condemnation for all of our sins. Praise Jesus that each one of us no longer has to offer up a blood sacrifice to God in order to be saved! All we have to do is confess our sins and ask Him to forgive us. How awesome is that!
Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Jesus, Your great sacrifice redeemed and saved us. Because of that wondrous miracle of miracles we no longer have to face death with cringing fear, but in confident hope of the eternal life we will inherit. Thank You for Jesus, our anchor and our hope, that holds us steady in the daily challenges of this life. Keep us longing for that which is yet to come and keep us faithful until that joyous hour. In Your mighty name, Jesus......Amen.
Have a wonderful and blessed day!
God bless you,
Christina

Bible Study: A Love For Sinners

A Love For Sinners 10.29.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are continuing our studies on the book of Luke, please reac Chapters 19-20 in your Bible or you can Click Here to read them online. If the link does not work you can copy and paste this link to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke% 2019-20&version=9

Today we will read about Jesus and Zacchaeus; His triumphal entry; Jesus cleansing the Temple; paying taxes; and Jesus' authority. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that Jesus loves sinners and came to save all who seek Him. No matter what we have done or who we have become we are saved and always have a way out of our sins through the Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus entered Jerico, as He passed through a publican (tax collector) named Zacchaeus sought after Him. "And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich. And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature. And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way." (Luke 19:1-4). A Jewish tax collector was often frowned upon as the Jews thought of them as thieves working for the government. His position indicated that he had sold his soul for wealth because he was a rich man.

However, Zacchaeus was deeply displeased with all his wealth and desperately longed for something that money could not buy. Jesus looked up and saw his eagerness, "And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house. And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully. And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner. And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord: Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost." (19:5-10). Jesus had a love to save the sinners of the world, it was this love that led Him to reach out to this unloved publican.

Just as Jesus saved Zacchaeus from his sins we too are saved from ours when we call on Him. This has not changed, Jesus may no longer has a physical body here on earth, but He still lives, He is inside each and every one of us. There is no better feeling in the world than to feel the touch of Jesus, especially when we have sinned and in the midst of seeking Him for forgiveness. "But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:4-9).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Any words we speak or pictures we draw cannot fully describe your infinite love. Your boundless love reaches beyond the heavens and yet it penetrates our individual hearts. It is only in experiencing a personal relationship with you that we begin to sense the pure love that comes only from You. Even as the waves of the ocean are powerful and wash over the rocks may Your abundant love fill my life to overflowing so that Christ’s love is seen through me. In Jesus' name.......Amen.

Have a wonderful and blessed day!
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Forgiveness & Guidance

Forgiveness and Guidance 10.28.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are continuing our studies on the book of Luke, please read Chapters 17-18 in your Bible or you can Click Here to read them online. If the link does not work you can copy & paste this link to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke% 2017-18&version=9

Today we will read about forgiveness; Jesus healing 10 lepers; the rich young ruler; Jesus' death, resurrection, and return foretold; and Jesus healing a blind beggar. Today's message focuses on the importance of realzing that in order for God to hear us we must acknowledge our own sins and seek Him for forgiveness and guidance.

Jesus spoke a parable about two men who went into the Temple to pray, "Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner." (Luke 18:10-13).

The Pharisee seemed to believe that he was righteous and right with God for the things that he did, but little did he know that he was praying with himself. When he chose to mention the sins of others rather than his own he showed God where his heart was, with himself. He felt the need of nothing and his prayer became one of self-righteousness and boasting rather than seeking God's forgiveness and guidance. No matter how many things we do for God unless we own up to our own sins and seek His guidance He will not hear us.

The publican's prayer was short, but sweet to God's ears, he was burdened by the consciousness of his own personal guilt and knew that he had no hope, but in the mercy and grace of God. Jesus concluded, "I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted." (18:14). When we are humble before God and let Him know that we are sorry for our sins and need Him then God acknowledges us thus hearing and answering our prayers.

There was a rich, young ruler who came running and kneeling before Jesus, he asked Jesus one of the most important questions of all, "Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" (18:18b). No one ever addressed a scribe or rabbi as a Good Master, only God was called good, but this man knew that Jesus was more than just a teacher. He knew that beyond his physical life was an eternity that he wanted to inherit.

In response to this most vital question, "And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God. Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother." (18:19-20). This should not be twisted to mean that eternal life can be earned by works or by following God's commandments. Eternal life can only come from Jesus Hims elf, who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood.

The young man answered and Jesus replies, "And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up. Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich. And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!" (18:21-24). This man was unwilling to give up his riches in order to follow Jesus. He was a good man, and very religious, but sadly he was eternally lost.

God does not condemn those who are wealthy, but seeks to instruct them that they are not to be too confident in themselves. We must not let our success become more important than God. God loves us and wants us to have a good life here on earth, but He also wants us to acknowledge Him as the source. "Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life." (I Timothy 6:17-19).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
As believers we acknowledge that our judgment is flawed and our motives are selfish when we do not submit our will to a holy God who knows what is best for His children.  Today we want to obey Your laws and surrender our will as we seek to do what is good and right in Your eyes. This will result in our hearts being strengthened and our lives being blessed by You. In Jesus' name......Amen.

Have a wonderful day!
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Being Wasteful

Being Wasteful 10.27.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are continuing our studies on the book of Luke, please read Chapters 14-16 in your Bible or you can Click Here to read them online. If the link does not work you can copy and paste this link to your browser:biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke% 2014-16&version=9

Today we will read about humility; more parables; the prodigal son, the rich man and Lazarus; and eternal life with Abraham. Today's message focuses on the importance of choosing the right path and not being wasteful with the gifts that God has given us. God gives us the gift of free will to choose whether or not to follow Him, but in doing so we see so many more blessings than the world can offer.

Jesus speaks many parables in today's reading, each parable reveals a spiritual principle that is helpful to our welfare here on earth. It is of utmost importance that we pray about them and ask for the wisdom to understand them.

Jesus illustrates that there aretwo alternatives in life, to be self centered and only seeking what is best for us, or to be Christ centered and seek to put Him first, others second, and ourselves last. To illustrate this He spoke of two sons, "I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth. And he said, A certain man had two sons:And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want." (Luke 15:10-14).

Then this prodigal son makes awisechoiceas he humbly goes before his father to ask for forgiveness and work. "And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants." (15:17-19). The word prodigal means a waster, the young man wasted his fathers substance, seekingto please only himself and the lusts of the world.

However, this man realized his mistake, repented anddiscovered that his father's love was far greater than anything the world had to offer. After he repented, his father made him aware of the seriousness of his former life as a sinner, but also rejoiced as he made the right decision to come back. "And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry." (15:21-24). Just as the son was forgiven so too will every repentant sinner andour Heavenly Father is waiting with great compassion to forgive all who come to Him.

Jesus also spoke of two men, a beggar named, Lazarus and a rich man who never recognized that he lead a prodical life, even though he had become very successful and wealthy he failed to bless those around him, only thinking of himself. "There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented." (16:19-25).Sadly because of this man's greedand preoccupation with success hefailedto use his resources for the glory of God anddiscovered that hell was eternal and that there was no way out once he got there.

Too many people waste the gifts that God has given them by using their talents for the world's enjoyment. The most important purpose of our brief life on earth is to prepare for an endless eternity, and then do what we can to provide spiritual food for others. All mankind, rich or poor, has one thing in common, physical death will open the door to either the joy of eternal life or the horrors of eternal hell.

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Because we are visually stimulated by that which surrounds us it is easy to become discouraged by what we see. Yet we choose to live by faith, not by sight. We want to rise above life’s visible circumstances to scenes invisible here on earth, but made known to us through Scripture.Regardless of our limited perspective or the personal cost we persevere in our trials and hardships so that we will gain an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. In Jesus' name....Amen.

Have a blessed day.

Christina

Bible Study: True Satisfaction

True Satisfaction 10.26.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are continuing our studies on the book of Luke, please read Chapters 12-13 in your Bible or you can Click Here to read them online. If the link does not work you can copy and paste this one to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke% 2012-13&version=9

Today we will read about Jesus' warning against greed and hypocrisy; and more parables, healing, and teaching from Jesus. Today's message focuses on the importance of realzing that we can not waste our lives trying to seek wordly possessions. True life and sastifaction only comes with Christ.

Jesus illustrated the deceptive danger of greed as He spoke a parable, "And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God." (Luke 12:16-21).

Jesus was illustrating that we can not take one possession with us when we leave the earth and that a far great treasure is waiting for us. Oh, of course we all would like nice things while we are here and God promises to provide us with all our needs, but He also says those who sow sparinglly also reap sparingly. "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." (Galatians 6:7). When you keep everything for yourself how do you expect to receive the more abundant blessings in store for you. It was no doubt that farming wa s hard work and for his reward he had become wealthy, but he destroyed that reward by keeping all that he had. He never thought about what he could do for others, spending his lifetime pleasing only himself.

We as Christians should not allow material things distract us from doing the will of God. Jesus said, "Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Luke 12:27-31). We are not to worry about our future needs. As important as food, clothing, and shelter are to maintaining life, our first concern should always be to seek God first then all our needs and then some will be added unto us.

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Out of the abundance of Your harvest we have so many delicious foods to enjoy. Thank you for Your blessings upon providing us with such wonderful food to nourish our physical body. What a pleasure it is to enjoy in due time the reward of our labor. You are faithful in providing for our spiritual, physical and emotional needs and we are grateful this day for Your marvelous blessings in our lives. In Jesus' name.....Amen.

Have a wonderful day and week!
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Love Our Neighbors

10.27.08 (6:52 am)   [edit]

Love Our Neighbors 10.25.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are continuing our studies on the book of Luke, please read Chapters 10-11 in your Bible or you can Click Here to read them online. If the link does not work you can copy and  paste this one to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke% 2010-11&version=9

Today we will read about the seventy that Jesus sent out to preach the Gospel; the good Samaritan; Martha and Mary; Jesus teaching the disciples how to pray; and the Pharisees. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that we are to love all our neighbors regardless on their race, religion, or position. We can not be prejudice and choose whom we think we can help, we need to offer help to all who come our way as long as we are able to do so.

A certain lawyer, who was a scribe who and an official interpreter of both the Mosaic Law and the traditions of the elders tested Jesus concerning His interpretaion of Law. "And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour? " (Luke 10:25-29).

Jesus answered with an illustration, "And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?" (10:30-36). The lawyer's own interpretation gave him an excuse for his dislike for the Samaritans. His demand to know whom he must love exposed a life which was governed by religious rules and regulations.

The sufferer who fell among the theives was a man and nothing more, he had nothing to prove to others that he was their neighbor. The Samaritan's conduct was that of a neighbor who felt compassion and not prejudice for this man laying on the ground, left for dead. Our neighbor is anyone who needs our compassion and whom we have the opportunity and ability to help. It does not matter what his position, race, or religion may be. We are simply to enter into the feelings of another's sufferings or misfortunes as God has done for us. Whatever is mine actually belongs to God and whatever belongs to God should be shared with my neighbor because my neighbor was also created by and in the image of God.

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
We confess that in the process of being molded and fashioned into Your likeness we are often unyielding and struggle in the process of becoming more like You. At various times You place people in our lives that stretch and challenge us, which produces endurance and forbearance. Thank You for also placing people in our lives who model godly character and who courageously speak words of direction and loving correction when we most need it.  Help us to graciously receive these messengers and promptly respond to the message they bring when it is supported by Scripture and spoken from a wise and loving heart. In Jesus' name.......Amen.

Have a wonderful day and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: God's Terms

God's Terms 10.24.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are continuing our studies on the book of Luke, please read Chapters 8-9 in your Bible or Click Here to read them online. If the link does not work you can copy and paste this one to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke% 208-9&version=9

Today we will read about Jesus calming the storm; a woman healed from a blood disorder; other miracles; the apostles sent forth to teach the Gospel; 5000 fed; Peter's confession; and the transfiguration of Christ. Today's message focuses on the importance of realzing that we can not follow Jesus on our own terms and expect blessings upon our lives. It is not easy being a Christian in a world that is dead against living for Christ, but those who are true endure the strength to overcome an ungodly nation.

Many people claim to follow Jesus and even make it look like they do on the surface, but Jesus knows each and every persons heart. Jesus put some of these people to the test, "And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head." (Luke 9:57-58). The foxes illustrate those who truly follow Jesus and the birds illustrate those who live in the world. What Jesus meant by this statement was that all who choose to follow Him will endure hardships and the world is not going to be quick to guarantee provisions. Jesus was also saying that He was not attached to earthly possessions, nor could His followers expect any earthly resources.

"And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God." (Luke 9:59-60). This person illustrates those who are called on by Jesus to follow Him, but wait until they believe it is the right time. We can not wait to follow Jesus when the time is right for us, the time is now and we must be willing to follow Him immediately. What Jesus meant by this statement was that those who live in the world are dead spiritually, but those who are called by Him to follow Him are to preach the Gospel.

"And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.(Luke 9:59-62). This person illustrates those who are willing to follow Jesus, but only willing to join Him on their own terms. Serving Jesus requires a lifetime commitment, we can not choose to follow Him and then come and go as we please. What Jesus meant by this statement was that there can be no compromise in following Him, no one can live for Jesus and the world. Jesus was not then, nor is He now, in the midst of a membership drive, nor is He counting converts to prove His success. He's seeking true followers who are willing to put Him first above all things and not compromise their beliefs for the world.

Self-seekers and compromisers are often misled, believing there will be a more convenient time when they can choose to follow the Lord. Their excuses reveal that they have divided hearts. Some lack the devotion to Christ where, by comparison, all else in this world is of little importance. Others fail to put Christ first in their daily decisions and, yet, all who do will discover that the satisfaction of self-denial far exceeds fleeting earthly rewards. Each of us needs to consider whether there is someone in our life or something in our heart that is keeping us from giving Christ, His Word, and His will, first place in our lives.

The more carefully we read His Word and listen to His voice with submitted hearts the more all worldly ambitions and human standards fade into insignificance. Nothing else in this world has any lasting eternal value. "All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast. Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith." (Proverbs 15:15-16).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
You know the longings of my heart. When I seek thrills and quick fixes to satisfy these needs I am eventually disappointed. Your supply of Living Water never runs dry and satisfies the inner desires of my heart because You are the only One who can meet my spiritual needs.  Lord, as I come today dry and thirsty I look to You, for You satisfy the thirsty and fill the hungry with good things. In Jesus' name.....Amen.

Have a wonderful day and weekend!
God Bless,
Christina

Recognizing Fault 10.23.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are continuing our studies on the book of Luke, please read Chapters 6-7 in your Bible or you can Click Here to read them online. If the link does not work you can copy & paste this link to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke% 206-7&version=9

Today we will read about Jesus healing on the Sabbath; Jesus chosing His apostles; the Sermon on the Mount; and Jesus being anointed. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that before we criticize others for their faults we need to recgonize our own.

We are all guilty of sin (except for Jesus) and should wake up each day deeply thankful that we are saved of those sins. Simply by calling on the Lord Jesus Christ and admitting that we are sinners we never have to worry about where we end up, regardless of our sins God forgives all who repent. If we are truly grateful, we will approach everyone who sins against us with the same mercy and compassion that we receive from the Lord.
Once we are saved, we often make the mistake of acknowledging others sins, Jesus, who knows how the human heart tends to be hypocritical spoke of this. "The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master. And why beholdest thou the mote (others sins) that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam (our own sins) that is in thine own eye? Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye." (Luke 6:40-42). We we critize others for their sins we fail to recognize the sins we carry ourselves. Of course it is our responsibility to recognize the sinful behavior of others, but we can not criticize them if we are not doing anything to correct our own. Only then are we qualified to help others with their needs.
A heart of compassion and concern to help others is often replaced when we gossip about anothers faults or conduct. It is one thing to have questions concerning things we see others do (we all do), but it is when we do not recognize our own that we truly have to think are we helping or hurting them. The Apostle Paul said, "Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For every man shall bear his own burden. Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things." (Galatians 6:1-6).
We have a wonderful gift within us and that is the Lord Jesus Christ, when we recognize that we have sinned we not only set an example for others we also let Jesus be seen through us. That is one powerful gift, one that not only convicts us, but those who are convicted themselves. Why do you think Christians who live in sin can not face other Christians? We may never even know what they are doing, but they think we do because they know they are doing wrong. Thankfully, God is a merciful God who fully forgives all when we repent of our sins.
Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
I will never fully comprehend the depth of Your sacrificial death where we see man at his worst and God at His best. In my place You took my guilt and shame as You became the guilt offering pouring out Your life unto death and taking on my iniquity. You gave all so that I could be forgiven. Lord, help me to recognize my own faults and not be hypocritical of others for we are all sinners and need to repent. Forgive us, Lord and help us to be a blessing and not a burden to others. In Jesus' name.......Amen.
Have a wonderful and blessed day!
God bless,
Christina

Bible Study: A Church Home

A Church Home 10.22.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are continuing our studies on the book of Luke, please read Chapters 4-5 in your Bible or you can Click Here to read them online. If the link does not work you can copy & paste this link to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke% 204-5&version=9

Today we will read and about the devil tempting Jesus; His teaching, and healing, the fishermen; and the call of Matthew. Today's message focuses on the importance of realzing that we need to find a church home. Jesus wants to be intimately involved in our lives, not just when we feel like it or when we are in trouble, but in all that we do. When we take the time to worship in church we not only get closer to Him we also find our way out of trouble much quicker.

Jesus knew that His purpose on earth was to do His Father's will which was revealed in Scripture of the Old Testament. "The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;" (Isaiah 61:1-2). This Scripture was fulfilled in this great prophetic passage by Isaiah concerning the Messiah.
The first reported speech Jesus made was in the synagogue where He had been brought up from His childhood, it is here that He quoted Isaiah 61:1-2. "And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears." (Luke 4:16-21).
The Scripture Jesus read contained a clear mention of all three Persons of the Trinity; the Holy Spirit (Spirit of the Lord), the Father (He), and Jesus (Anointed One). The people were amazed, but knew He clearly referred to Himself as the Messiah who had been foretold by Isaiah and other prophets, beginning with Genesis 3:15. They could not believe that the man talking to them was their long awaited Messiah, they were so infuriated at His equating Himself with God that they disrupted the worship service, seized Jesus, and attempted to push Him over a rocky precipice and put Him to death for blasphemy.
It is very easy to be mistaken when we follow our emotions rather than the truth revealed in God's Word! Some think they can get all their answers and worship God just as well while on the lake fishing or at home resting as they can in church. Jesus recognized the need to honor God by regularly attending worship services, we too need to follow His example by regularily attending a Bible bassed church.
Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Jesus, so we can be confident that when we seek the heart of our Father we are also increasing in spiritual knowledge that comes from our loving relationship with You. Thank You also for the Holy Spirit, our Helper, whom You sent to teach us and to bring to remembrance all things that You have taught us through Scripture. Your knowledge will preserve us through the fiery trials of this life. In Jesus' name.....Amen.
Have a wonderful and blessed day!
God Bless You,
Christina

Bible Study: Nothings Impossible

Nothings Impossible 10.20.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we begin our studies on the book of Luke, please read Chapter 1 in your Bible or Click Here to read it online. If the link does not work you can copy and paste this link to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=49&a mp;chapt
er=1&version=9

Today we will read about the virgin birth of Jesus foretold; Mary's visit to her cousin Elisabeth; Mary praising God for Elisabeth's pregnancy; and the birth of John the Baptist. Today's message focuses on the importance of not giving up, no matter how impossible things look as with God all things are possible.

The book of Luke is the 3rd book of the New Testament (also the 3rd of the Gospels) and contains 24 chapters. The author of the book is Luke and it was written to all believers, although the first intended audience was the Greeks to whom he presented Jesus as the perfect man. He also addresses one specific believer, Theophilus. "It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus, That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed." (Luke 1:3-4).

The purpose of the book was to write an orderly account of the ministry of Jesus. What we are to learn from the book is that our mission is identical to that of Jesus: To reach the lost with the good news of the Gospel. The Holy Spirit lead Luke, who was a physician, to write this Gospel, the amazing thing was that he never met Jesus while He was on the earth. His devotion to Christ caused him to treasure the words that He spoke as well as everything that concerned the Savior's life.

Zacharias and Elisabeth never had a child and now were well stricken in there years. After much prayer an angel, name Gabriel visited Zacharias to tell him that Elisabeth would bare a child and they were to name him John. "THERE was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth. And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.........But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John...... And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying, Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men." (1:5-6,13,24-25).

Soon after, Gabriel was sent to visit a young woman named Mary, he explained to her that she had been chosen by God to conceive His child and that she was to name Him Jesus. "And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary..........And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. " (1:26-27, 30-31). Had Mary been conceived by Joseph Jesus would have been born with the same sinful nature that was passed down from Adam. This would have made Jesus a sinner like all mankind, keeping Him from being the sinless sacrifice that would free us from our sins.

At first, Mary was troubled, but once she learned of Elisabeth's miracle she knew that Gabriel was telling the truth. "Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. For with God nothing shall be impossible." (1:34-37). Elisabeth and Mary are examples of the All Mighty Power of God, even today He maked miracles happen. Earlier this year I witnessed a 9 month old baby that was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease defeat the odds from doctors who said there was no hope for her. With much prayer from our church family that baby survived and every Sunday I hold in my hands a chubby little miracle from God.

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
We recognize that our endurance and persistence are attitudes derived from a faith-filled life with You. Our endurance is realized by continuing this race though others may drop out making us feel like we run alone. Our persistence is marked by our determination to finish the race though struggles weigh us down and doubts cloud our vision of the finish line. Thank You for marking the race out for us by showing us the great examples of those who cheer us on as we participate in this Christian race. They finished their race on earth through their enduring faith, though they experienced opposition from sinful men. We endure hardships and struggles as discipline from You, our loving Father, that we may share in Your holiness. We look forward to the harvest of righteousness and peace that comes as a result of our persistence in this spiritual marathon. Strengthen our feeble arms and weak knees as we repent of the sin that entangles us. We lay aside everything that drags us down or tempts us to give up. In Jesus' name.....Amen.

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
God bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Valuables

Valuables 10.19.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we will complete our studies on the book of Mark, please read Chapters 14-16 in your Bible or you can Click Here to read them online. If the link does not work you can copy & paste this link to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark% 2014-16&version=9

Today we will read and about the last Passover of Jesus; Peter denying Jesus; and Jesus' crucifixion, burial, and resurrection. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that there are many valuable things on this earth, but there is one treasure more valuable beyond anything that we can ever imagine and that treasure is Jesus.

The scribes and chief priests were continously look for some way in which they could kill Jesus. "After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death." (Mark 14:1). Simon, the leper, who Jesus healed, lived in the small town of Bethany, it was less than two miles south of Jerusalem on the slope of the Mount of Olives. Three days before Jesus was to be crucified, Simon invited Jesus and His disciples to his home for dinner. "And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head. And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made? For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her." (Mark 14:3-5).

The ointment of spikenard was very valuable, 300 pence was about a year's worth of wages for the common laborer. Jesus said, "Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me. For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always. She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying. Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her." (14:6-9). As a treasurer, Judas could not see what a valuable gift this woman gave to Jesus, he never recognized Jesus as Lord of his life. Therefore, anything given to Him was just a waste, and what made things worse was his ability to make others think the same way.

The lost opportunity to sell the ointment and pocket the money, coupled with a strong rebuke from Jesus, and the great honor that was bestowed upon Mary (the one who poured the ointment on Him), probably angered Judas to the point of why he betrayed Jesus. "And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went unto the chief priests, to betray him unto them. And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray him." (14:10-11). The betrayal and even the 30 pieces of silver that had been paid to Judas was foretold 600 years prior.

Today, our generation is no different and if you read through the Gospels you will often get a sense that Jesus is speaking about the present. In the world's estimation, when someone gives his time, talent, or tithes for Christ and His Church, it is sheer waste. Our human nature remains the same no matter what generation we are in and every person must make the personal choice of whether to accept or reject Jesus into their lives, but once our eyes have been opened to the worthiness of our Lord, nothing is too good for Him. Jesus said, "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." (Matthew 6:19-21).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
I know that contentment with godliness is of great benefit. It brings about a lasting peace and grateful heart that only You can give. Help me not to focus so much on the material possessions that I lose sight of that which is of vital importance. May the character of my soul and the fruit of my actions be of much greater importance than the perishable goods that capture my attention. I look to You for proper balance in the things You have blessed me with and the attitude in which I receive these good things from Your hands. In Jesus name......Amen.

Have a wonderful day and week.
God bless,
Christina

United As One 10.18.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are continuing our studies on the book of Mark, please read Chapters 12-13 in your Bible or you can Click Here to read them online. If the link does not work you can copy and paste this link to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark% 2012-13&version=9

Today we will read about the wicked tenant farmers; paying taxes; the resurrection; the greatest commandments; a widow's offering, and being prepared. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that God is a unity of three Gods, (God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit) which make up One True or Complete God.

Jesus was often questioned by the scribes as a way to try tempt Him, the more Jesus spoke the angrier they got, vowing to find some way in which they can cease Him and kill Him. "And they (the Pharisees) sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way. And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words. And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not? Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see it. And they brought it. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they said unto him, Caesar's. And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him." (Mark 12:12-17).

We are not required to give God all that we have, just as we are to give a portion to the government we are to give only a portion to God. The great thing with giving a portion to God is that we will get double in return. "But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully." (II Corinthians 9:6).

A little later, Jesus was questioned again, "And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these." (12:28-31).

Our God is the English translation for the Hebrew word Elohenu, God used this word 2500 times in reference to Himself as the Self-Existent, One True God. Furthermore, the word One is the English translation for the word Echad, this word is a declaration that the Lord is a plurality in unity, expressing One as being united. For example, a man and woman that are married become one flesh, once they have children they become one family, no matter how many children they have they still remain one family. In a sense they are many people making up one unity. This truth exposes the ignorance of all who refuse to recognize Jesus as the One True God, and Creator of all things.

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.  I have hidden Your Word in my heart that I might not sin against You.  Direct me in the path of Your commands, for there I find delight.  Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to Your Word. Let me live that I may praise You and may Your laws sustain me. My heart is set on keeping Your decrees to the very end. In Jesus' name........Amen.

Have a wonderful and blessed day/night!
God bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Husbands Love Your Wives

Husbands Love Your Wives 10.17.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are continuing our studies on the book of Mark, please read Chapters 10-11 in your Bible or you can Click Here to read them online. If the link does not work you can copy & paste the link to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark% 2010-11&version=9

Today we will read about Jesus teaching on divorce; Jesus blessing children; the rich young ruler; Bartimaeus healed from his blindness; Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem; and Jesus cleansing the Temple. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that every marriage has it's ups and downs, but just as Jesus does not give up on us we need to not so easily give up on our mates.

In an effort to have Jesus arrested and, hopefully, executed by Herod, the Pharisees came to Him and tempted Him. "And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him. And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you? And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away. " (Mark 10:2-4). Jesus was not intimidated, He quoted from Scripture, "For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder." (10:5-9). The responsibility in a marriage relationship lies with the husband, who is to love his wife.

A marriage betw een a husband and wife is often related the the church and although there are numerous imperfections within the church, Jesus does not give up on it and always seeks other means of uniting people to follow Him. Also, He does not force anyone to be in submission to Him, but allows them to do it willingly. A husband's conduct and compassion toward his wife needs to be like Christ for His Church, this in turn prepares his wife to be in submission to him. "Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself." (Ephesians 5:24-28). It is imperative that a wife feel secure in her husband's love. It is his responsibility to let her know by word and action how very important she is to him.

God created the world and put Adam in charge of it. He created Eve to be Adam's helpmate. A husband and wife are a team and should be kind each other, tenderhearted, forgiving to one another, even as God has forgiven you. One thing I would like to point out is that God created Eve to help Adam, not to be abused by him. Jesus gave one exception, "And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery:" (Matthew 19:9).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Your creation reveals that You are a lover of beauty, color, simplicity, and creativity. When disunity or rebellion crashes the loving setting that we so greatly desire, help us to reflect Your character of endurance, faithfulness and self -control.  Our example as leaders in the home is more often taken notice of when we’re required to deal with the undesirable circumstances of life. May our family, in as much as it is possible,  be a reflection of You whom we serve. In Jesus' name......Amen.

Have a wonderful and blessed day!
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Hear Him

Hear Him 09.16.08

Hello My Friends/Guest,

Today we are continuing our studies on the book of Mark, please read Chapters 8-9 in your Bible or you can Click Here to read them online. If the link does not work you can copy & paste this one to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark% 208-9&version=9

Today we will read and learn about Jesus feeding 4,000; Jesus healing a blind man; Peter confessiing his faith; Jesus fortelling of His death and resurrection; and His transfiguraton. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that no matter who surrounds us all who call on the Lord Jesus Christ are saved. No religion, person, or object can keep Him away from us. He is calling, do you hear Him?

Jesus and His disciples entered the famous idol worshipping town of Caesarea Philippi, Jesus asked them who these people think He is. "And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am? And they answered, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets. And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ. And he charged them that they should tell no man of him." (Mark 8:27-30). How amazing it must have been to hear about people who turned to idols repenting and turning to Jesus. This is proof that no matter where you are Christ can come to you and save you.

A short time later, Jesus invited the people to follow Him, but with certain qualifications, "And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels." (8:34-38). What this means is that whoever accepts Jesus into their lives will lose the life that they once knew. This in turn saves us as we lose the desire to obtain the lusts of the world. The truth is that it does not matter how much money, fame, or possessions a person has they will never be satisfied.

Six days later, Jesus withdrew from the crowd and takes three disciples, Peter, James, and John with Him to a mountaintop, "And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them. And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them. And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus." (9:2-4). Elias and Moses were now in the presence of their Messiah, what a monumental event. Moses, who represented God's law, and Elias, who represented His prophets, appeared for the soul purpose of honoring Jesus prior to His suffering, death on the cross, and His physical resurrection (will learn more on this in the book of Luke).

Then Peter spoke, "Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid. And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him." (9:5-7). Peter thought that he was doing a marvelous thing by offering to build three tabernacles, but had his deisre been granted the worship which was due to Christ alone would have been divided between Himself, and two of His saints. Since Jesus Christ is the Only Begotten Son of God, He alone is worthy of our worship and that is why God Himself spoke, "This is my beloved Son, hear Him".

Today, many Christians are content to worship other things, waiting on that one voice from the cloud telling them, "This is my beloved Son, hear Him". Jesus, needs to be the center of our lives, unlike us as being equal with God, He has no equal. Many have come short of the Savior's best because they never chose to read God's Word, leaving their decision based on other books or speakers and waiting on the one sign from God. "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (Romans 10:17).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
As You formed us in the womb, You set us apart to honor and glorify You.  It is a choice each of us must make to listen to Your voice and respond to Your leading.  Align our hearts with Your will for our lives so that we will live productive godly lives that make a difference in the world around us and in our own hearts. In Jesus' name.......Amen.

Have a wonderful day!
God bless you,
Christina

Just A Thought 10.15.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we will continue our studies in the book of Mark, please read Chapters 6-7 in your Bible or Click Here to read them online. If the link does not work you can you can copy & paste this link to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark% 206-7&version=9

Today we will read about, the apostles sent out two by two; the beheading of John the Baptist; Jesus feeding 5000 men; Jesus walking on water; Jesus rebuking the Pharisees; and the faith of a Syrophoencian woman. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that Satan often suggests evil thoughts, but it is when we dwell in them that they become sin.

If you ever felt bad or gotten upset over someone who did not understand your love for Jesus, you would not feel so badly when you see what Jesus himself had to go through in His own hometown. "And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him. And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them." (Mark 6:1-5). We can not let them get to us nor compromise what we believe, but what we can do is move on and pray for them to one day see what we see before it is too late.
The Pharisees always saw themselves as godly people, often siting Old Testament Scripture, but did not really follow true Scripture, it was more like the tradition of the elders. Jesus and His disciples were sitting down to eat when the Pharisees began to criticize them (the disciples) for not washing their hands. "Then came together unto him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, which came from Jerusalem. And when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with unwashen, hands, they found fault. For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands oft, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders. And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, brasen vessels, and of tables. Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?" (7:1-5). They believed that Jesus' disciples were defiled because they did not ceremonially wash before eating as prescribed by former scribes in the tradition of the elders.
Jesus rebuked them saying, "Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition." (7:6-9).
Later, Jesus explained to His disciples, "Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him; Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats? And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man." (7:18-23). what Jesus means here is that we will often be tempted by evil or ungodly thoughts, but it only becomes sin when we dwell on those thoughts. We are decieved if we assume that there is no harm in dwelling upon sinful thoughts as long as they were not spoken or carried out. The longer we think about them the more likely we are to carry them out.
Unlike the unsaved, Christians have the ability to resist temptation because of the Holy Spirit indwelling in them. When we are committed to reading God's Word with a desire to please Him we will produce inward changes in our conduct and attitudes to the effect that we think twice about what we say and do. The Apostle Paul said, "For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law." (Galtians 5:14-18).
Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
We earnestly seek You for wisdom regarding the daily circumstances of our lives.  Help us to incline our hearts toward You for understanding all that You have to teach us in the lessons of life.  During the quiet sessions when Your voice seems silent help us to trust You knowing that You work all things out for our good,  for Your glory, and in Your time reference. In Jesus name.....Amen.
Enjoy the reast of your day and be blessed.
God Bless you,
Christina

Bible Study: A Big Sin

A Big Sin 10.14.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are continuing our studies on teh book of Mark, please read Chapters 4 & 5 in your Bible or you can Click Here to read them online. If the link does not work you can copy & paste this link to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark% 204-5&version=9

Today we will read about four parables from Jesus; Jesus calming the storm; Jesus freeing a man of unclean spirits; and Jesus reviving a daughter. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that no matter how big the sin all who come to Jesus are saved. It is often the worst of sinners that become the best testimony  for Christ.

Jesus spoke many parables (short stories), He used these short stories to illustrate m orals or to teach lessons. Jesus was asked why He spoke in parables, "And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable. And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them." (Mark 4:10-12). The truth is that unless we are saved we will never understand the Bible. A person can be very active in their church, but it is the Holy Spirit that indwells within us that allows us to understand God's Word, without it they will never hear His Word. Unless we accept Jesus we will never receive the Holy Spirit, this is why many in the world who try to read the Bible see God as angry and cruel instead of the loving and caring God that we all know.
As Jesus stepped foot into the country of the Gadarenes, He was approached by a man possessed by an unclean spirit. "And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him, And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not." (5:2-7). A strange thing begins to happen when a sinner comes to Jesus, those chains that held them down become loose and eventually they become free from them.
Jesus confronted the unclean spirit, commanded that they come out of the man, and cast them into a herd of pigs, "For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many. And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country. Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding. And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea." (5:8-13).
This man is an example of the unlimited power that Satan has over the unsaved, he also illustrates the overwheming number of demons that Satan uses to motivate and manipulate not only the lost sinner, but Christians as well. What a wonderful God we have that regardless of how badly we sin we are saved and the Holy Spirit that indwells in us will transform us to enjoy our lives much more than we could ever imagine.
Today's Prayer:
Dear Jesus,
I will never fully understand the depth of Your sacrifical death, when we see man at his worst, You see the best in him. Thank You, Jesus for giving Your life so that we could be forgiven, though our sins were as scarlet they were washed white as snow, cleansed by Your blood. We now walk with power as the Holy Spirit indwells in us and leads us to a life of victory. In Your mighty name, Jesus.....I pray.....Amen.
Have a wonderful and blessed day!
God bless you,
Christina

Bible Study: A Tiny Sin

A Tiny Sin 10.13.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we will begin our studies on the book of Mark, please read Chapters 1-3 in your Bible or Click Here to read them online. If the link does not work you can copy & paste this link to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark% 201-3&version=9

Today we will read about the ministry of John the Baptist; the baptism and temptation of Jesus; His Galilean ministry; Jesus choosing His twelve apostles; and the unpardonable sin. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that no matter how small a sin may seem if we are not careful it will spread like a disease and cause devasting consequences.

The book of Mark is the 2nd book of the New Testament and contains 16 chapters. The author of the book is Mark and it was written to all believers, but first tot he Roman whom represent Jesus as a servant. The purpose of the book is to present the ministry of Jesus, stressing His role as a servant and the Son of man.

Unlike the book of Matthew where Jesus was presented as a King, the book of Mark emphasizes Jesus as the Servant of God. No genealogy is given since Jesus is portrayed as a servant and no one was interested in the pedigree of a servant. The book closes with Jesus working with His disciples and even washing their feet.

In the Old Testament, God commanded Moses (Numbers 5:2-3) to seperate the lepers from the community. Leprosy is a horrilbe spreadable disease that starts out as a small dot on the skin and slowly eats away the entire body, leaving fatal consequences. Jesus was approached by a man plaqued with the disease, "And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean. And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed." (Mark 1:40-42). Leprosy illustrates how even the smallest sin, if continued can plague us, leaving us with devasting consequences.

Today, all who accept Jesus are cleansed, we are cleansed by His precious blood that was shed to save us from all our sins, even those He knows we will commit years from now. What a wonderful gift!

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
We thank you for sacrificing your One and Only Son, Jesus to cleanse us from the disease of sin. The disease spreads  ;from our hearts to our minds separating us from You and making us a bondage slave to Satan. Lord, search my heart today and if there is any wickness in me, reveal it to me and cast it out. Stengthen me and keep me in Your presence so that I continue to walk away from the emotions and temptaions that cause me to sin and crucify You all over again. In Jesus's name.....Amen.

Have a wonderful & blessed day!
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Follow Jesus

Follow Jesus 10.12.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we will complete our studies on the book of Matthew, please read Chapters 27-28 in your Bible or Click Here to read them online.

If the link does not work you can copy & paste this link to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matth ew%2027-%2028&version =9

Today we will read about Judah repenting then hanging himself; Jesus being delivered to Pilate; Jesus' crucifixion, burial, and resurrection; and the Great Commission. Today's message focuses on the importance of taking up your cross and following Jesus. We must not bare our own crosses, Jesus died to take them away so we too must die to self and live Christlike.

Lying beneath the shadow of the cross was the garment that Jesus wore, while blood was flowing down from their crucified Savior's sides, arms, and feet, the Roman soldiers were gambling for the garment. These soldiers watched for hours and never realized that Jesus was dying to save them. "And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots. And sitting down they watched him there; And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS." (Matthew 27:35-37). In the presence of the most awesome event in world history all they did was sit there and watch Him die, never moved by what they saw. It is beyond grasp how anyone can even read of how Jesus suffered and died to save them and not feel anything.

Bearing His cross did not begin when a wooden cross was laid up upon His shoulders as He walked up to Calvary, it started from His birth. When He carried the real cross of mankind's redemption, He chose daily to live against self will, the temptations of the flesh, and resist gaining His kingdom by wordly means in order to fulfill the prophices. He chose to lose His own life to save us from death by our own sins. It is so important that each day we need to take up our own crosses and follow Him. "Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me." (Matthew 16:24)

After three days, Jesus resurrected, "In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. is countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay." (21:1-6). His resurrection gave His disciples the key to understanding that their King and His Kingdom were both eternal.

Jesus spoke with them of the Great Commission, "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen." (20:18-20).

When we are baptized in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit we are proclaiming the fulness of the Godhead. By publicly confess tot he world that God is our Heavenly Father. The phrase and of the Son is our witness to the world that Jesus is now Savior and Lord of our lives. By confessing that we accept Jesus into our lives the Holy Spirit becomes our indwelling Guide throughout life. This confirms the Trinity of the Godhead and proclaims One God expressed in Three Persons. The Lord has provided just one Book and His Holy Spirit to tell us how to live and what He expects us to do. "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you." (Philippians 3:13-15).

In Jesus name......Amen.

Have a wonderful day and week!
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Use Your Talents

Use Your Talents 10.11.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are continuing our studies on the book of Matthew, please read Chapters 25-26 in your Bible or you can Click Here to read them online.
If the link does not work you can copy & paste this link to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matth ew%2025-26&version=9

Today we will read about more parables; the plot to kill Jesus; the Lord's Supper; Jesus sorrow and prayer to God; Judas bretraying Jesus; and His trial. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that God has given us all talents. We are to use those talents for His glory in order to see an increase of our own.

There will come a day when all will see that wealth, possessions, or popularity will be seen for it's true value, absolutely worthless. Jesus represented Himself in a parable, "For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey." (Matthew 25:14-15). These talents did not belong to the servants, they were to be managers of the goods that he entrusted them with. The goods represent the opportunities and abilities that God has given us as a means to be used for His glory.

The servant who received five talents recognized this, traded his talents and increased them, "Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.....And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord." (25:16,20-21).

Likewise, the servant who received two talents did the same, "And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.......He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord." (25:17,22-23). This servant was not expected to gain more than two talents because he knew he had been given according to his ability. Both servants doubled their talents and were equally commended.

However, the third servant who had recieved one talent put no effort in increasing his talent, instead he put it away, "But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money........Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents." (25:18,24-28). This servant attempted earthly security, in which he put his lord aside until it was convenient for him to increase his talent. The consequences of neglecting the opportunities to serve his master were irreversible; there was no second chance to relive his life.

We have all been given talents that are to be used for God's glory and the more we use them the more we receive in return. How do we use our talents to serve God? We can go to church every oppotunity we get, help serve in our church, tell others about Jesus, give tithe, help someone, put others before ourselves, give unwanted clothes or items to those who need them, the list goes on and on. No matter how broke we are someone else has less than we do.

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Just as we received Your Son, Jesus as Lord, we continue to live in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as we were taught, and overflowing in thankfulness. May our words, our actions, and our thoughts be full of praise as we consider all that we have and choose not to dwell on that which we have not. Above every other blessing is the gift of the blood that was shed to save us from our sins. And the greatest gift yet to come is the inheritance that awaits Your faithful servants in our eternal dwelling in heaven. In Jesus' name....Amen.

Have a wonderful and blessed day!
God bless you,
Christina

Bible Study: Are You Ready?

Are You Ready? 10.10.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are continuing our studies on teh book of Matthew, please read Chapters 23-24 in your Bible or Click Here to read them online. If the link does not work you can cut & paste this link to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matth ew%2023-24&version=9

Today we will read about the hypocrisy; the destruction of the Temple is foretold; and Jesus explaining the signs on His return. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that Jesus is returning and we need to be ready for that day. Are you ready?

On the Mount of Olives, just three days before His crucifixion, Jesus sat with His disciples and foretold the destruction of the Temple. "And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?" (Matthew 24:1-3). The Temple was destroyed about 40 years after His resurrection.

Jesus also foretold of the signs of His return as well as the false Christ's and prophets that would surface before His arrival. "For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows........And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." (24:5-8,11-14). Like the Pharisees, the false prophets of today substitute God's True Word with man made words and opinions in order to be deemed as acceptable.

Jesus emphasized the importance of always being prepared, "Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh." (24:42-44).

We have no idea when Jesus will come, but we do know the signs of His return and if you take a look at the world today you will see that some of the signs are here already. That is why it is of utter most importance that we are prepared for that day.

Are You Ready?
Have you repented of your sins and accepted Jesus as your Savior and are you telling all you know about Him?

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
You know those whom You are leading us to share the Gospel, sometimes these people are on our hearts for years and we have prayed for them continously, other times we are prompted by the Holy Spirit to speak to someone we do not even know. Lord, watch over us, guide us, and give us the wisdom and courage to speak to these people openly and without shame. Help us to not be discouraged when we do not see an immediate response for we know that we are involved in planting seeds that produce beautiful fruit, sometimes many years later. In Jesus' name......Amen.

Have a wonderful day and weekend!
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Eternal Seperation

Eternal Seperation 10.09.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are continuing our studies on the book of Matthew, please read Chapters 21-22 in your Bible or Click Here to read them online.
If the link does not work you can cut & paste this link to your browser: biblegatewa y.com/passage/?search=Matth ew%2021%20-%2022&vers ion=9

Today we will read about Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem; Jesus cleansing the Temple; the fig tree; and parables about taxes, the greatest commandment, and eternal darkness.

On the first day of the week, preceeding Jesus' crucifixion he has a triumphal entry into Jerusalem, "And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way. And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this? And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee." (Matthew 21:8-11).

He walked into the Temple and got rid of all the people buying and selling things there, "And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves." (21:12-13).

The high priests were outraged at His actions and sent out a mission to interrupt Him as He was teaching. "And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority? And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things. The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him? But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet. And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things." (21:24-27).

They were referring to Jesus accepting all the praise that the people had given Him as the Messiah and also questioning His authority to dismiss the money changers in the Temple. It was for these reasons that they conspired to have Him killed. The Temple belonged to God, who was in the midst of it as Jesus was cleansing it. This illustrates that Christ alone brings cleansing into our lives through His blood that was shed to atone for our sins.

Jesus spoke many parables, one of which He explained the eternal seperation from God, "The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come........So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests. And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are called, but few are chosen." (22:2-3,10-14). This parable exposes those who assume that because they do good things they are good enough to get to heaven without Jesus, many are called to accept Him, but few will. The Apostle Paul said, "They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate." (Titus 1:16)

Eternal seperation from God is final and very terrifying, that is why Jesus says more about the horrifying torments of hell as a lake of fire than all the writers in the New Testament combined. There is one and only one way to avoid eternal seperation and that is by accepting the Lord, Jesus Christ as Savior.

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
We don’t always know where our present steps will take us on life’s journey, but we do know they lead us to heaven as we walk with You. Our steps here may lead to cold, dark mountains or deep valleys, but ultimately we will rest where the steps of Jesus end at heaven’s throne. We will no longer have questions about our future, for we know that we will spend eternity forever worshiping You as we give You glory, honor, praise, and thanksgiving. Give us peace and joy for our journey here below and heavenward anticipation for our future inheritance. In Jesus' name......Amen.

Have a wonderful day and weekend.
God Bless,
Christina

Today we will read about being humble; the lost sheep; forgiveness; marriage and divorce; the young rich ruler; the workers in the vineyard; and the two blinded men that were healed. Today's message focuses on the importance of being forgiving to others.

The traditional scribes taught that one should forgive his neighbor who had offended him three times, with this in mind Peter asked, "Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven." (Matthew 18:21-22). Jesus' reply exposed Peter's attitude that he felt he was more superior if his forgiveness exended to seven days. This attitude was far from sufficent compared to the mercy of God and His willingness to forgive us without limitation. Jesus demonstrated that there was no forgiveness from God unless one's own spirit is equally forgiving. If we are unwilling to forgive those who have sinned against us, how are we to be forgiven by God of our own?

To demonstrate, Jesus gave a parable about a king and two of his servants, "Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents. But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt." (18:23-30).

The servant who owed ten thousand talents owed an amount that would be impossible to repay even in a lifetime, but when he fell before the king the king had compassion on him and forgave him, releasing him from his debt. When that same servant found out that one of his fellowservants&n bsp;owed a debt to him (which was not merely as much as what he himself owed) he had him thrown into prison. However, when the king heard what he had done he became angry and had him sent to prison. "Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him." (18:32-34).

This demonstration is an example for all of us to follow, we can not expect to be forgiven of our debts if we are not forgiving to those who owe us. No one is perfect except Jesus and if someone was generous enough to forgive us for something that we have done to them shouldn't we be generous to someone who wronged us. Forgiveness is based upon God's redeeming love, it is fully and freely granted by His mercy and grace. In fact, Jesus, who suffered the most by dying for each and everyone of them allowed us all to be free from it's bondage. True repentance toward God is associated with our attitude toward our fellowmen and cannot exist apart from our forgiving spirit.

I understand that it can be pretty hard to forgive someone who has hurt you or a loved one, but by not forgiving them you are creating a pattern of destruction for you and your family. Hurt, leads to anger, which leads to vengance and personal vengance is not the answer, God will handle it. "Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." (Romans 12:19-20)

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
In our attempt to avenge those who have hurt us, we learn that we not only harm them, we have hurt ourselves. Instead of having the spirit of forgiveness we have a bitter, vengeful heart. Lord, heal our broken hearts and help us to forgive them so that we are not bound with the chains that keep us from living the lives that You intended for us to live. In Jesus' name......Amen.

Enjoy you day and be blessed.
God Bless You,
Christina

Body of Christ 10.07.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are continuing our studies on the book of Matthew, please read Chapters 15-17 in your Bible or Click Here to read them online. You can also cut & paste the link to your broswer: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matth ew%2015-17&version=9

Today we will read about the rebuke of the Scribes and Pharisees; Jesus feeding 4000; Peter trying to rebuke Jesus; the transfiguration of Jesus; and the disciples disbelief. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that We are the Body of Christ.

Caesarea Philippi was the location of the famous worship center of the Greek god Pan, which paid tribute to all the gods in paganism, including the Canaanite's Baal, whom they considered to be a lord of heaven and earth. In the midst of the large number of idol worshipers, Jesus asked His disciples who the people think He might be. "When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. " (Matthew 16:13-19).

For the first time, Jesus introduces the word, Church, a church is a community where Jesus is the Head of a group of caring brothers and sisters who fellowship with one another. These are people who have accepted Jesus with all their hearts and have been redeemed by His blood, they are commited to Jesus as their Savior and Lord under the discipline of the Word of God. They also recognize their responsibility to help one another in living their covenant relationship with Christ since the Church is the Body of Christ. The apostle Paul said, "through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another." (Romans 12:3-5).

Caesarea Philippi was located about 25 miles north of the Sea of Galilee, it was situated at the foot of the southern slope of Mount Hermon, with it's snowcapped peak 9000 feet aboove sea level. This was the highest mountain in the promised land, which many believe to be where Jesus transfigured (changed His appearance). He brought Peter, James, and John along with Him to witness the amazing transfigurat ion, "And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. " (Matthew 17:1-7).

We do not need to be afraid of the Power of God upon our lives, we may face difficulties, the loss of loved ones, and even tragedy, but always know that Jesus is with us and indwells in each and every one of us. He takes tragedy and turns it into triumph.

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Help me not waste my time and energy on futile or wishful thinking, instead fix my thoughts upon You, Jesus. Anchor my soul in Your Word and when I am faced with difficulties give me the peace I need to endure them gracefully. Remind me that I serve an extraordianry God who is with me always and that You will never leave me. In Jesus' name.....Amen.

Have a wonderful and blessed day!
God bless you,
Christina

Salvation 10.06.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are continuing our studies on the book of Matthew, please read Chapters 13-14 in your Bible or you can Click Here to read them online. You can also cut & paste this link to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matth ew%2013%20-%2014&vers ion=9

Today, we will read and learn about some parables by Jesus; the execution of John the Baptist; feeding 5000 people; and Jesus walking on water. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that no matter how one appears to be on the surface, Jesus knows our hearts and unless we personally accept Him nothing we do will be acknowledged.

In the first parable, (a parabale is a short, simple story that is to the point) Jesus de scribes four different kind of responses to hearing His Word. "And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up: Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them: But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear." (Matthew 13:3-9). The true disciple of Christ is represented by the good ground that received the seed, which in turn is fruitful.

The second parable was of tares (weeds) that grew within the same field of wheat, yet produced no fruit. "Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn." (13:24-30).

The tares look identical to the wheat in their early stages, but as they grow they become more defined. They represent the world of so called Christian's who appear to be converts, but have never truly accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of their lives. "The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;" (13:38). They think that by joining a church, talking about Jesus, and giving tithe makes them a Christian, but they are being decieved. The only way to be converted is by personally repenting of our sins and asking Jesus to come into our lives.

Jesus also foretold of the end of the world, "The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. " (13:39-43). It is startling to think that many lives will be lost simply because they failed to acknowledge the Lord, Jesus Christ. That is why we must do everything we can to lead them to Christ, if they refuse then at least we did all we could to show them what they will be facing.

Today, if you have never asked Jesus to forgive you of your sins nor accepted Him personally you can do it right here.

Just repeat this prayer:
Dear Jesus,
I confess that I am a sinner. I believe that You came to this earth and died on the cross as a substitute for me and my sin.  I place my faith in You and what You have done for me.  I receive You into my life and choose this day to follow and serve You. In Jesus' name......Amen.

Now, if you read this prayer and it came from your heart than you are now written in the book of life and saved from the furnace of fire. Congratulations, and may God bless you in a mighty way.

Have a great and wonderful day!
God bless,
Christina

Bible Study: The Sabbath

The Sabbath 10.05.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are continuing our studies on the book of Matthew please read Chapter 12 in your Bible or Click Here to read it online. You can also cut & paste the link to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matth ew%2012&version=9

Today we will read and learn about Jesus concerning the Sabbath; the controversy with the Parisees; the unpardonable sin; Jesus' death and resurrection foretold; and His earthly family. Today's message focuses on the New Covenants that replaced some of the Old Testament Covenants.

Jesus was confronted by the Pharisees who criticized His disciples for picking corn in the field to eat on the Sabbath, "At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn and to eat. But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day. But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him; How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests? Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless? But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple." (Matthew 12:1-6).

In the Old Testament God's people had been commanded to keep the last day of the week (Saturday), the Sabbath, as a day of rest to commemorate God's completing all things in six days and resting on the seventh, (See Exodus 20:9-11). This meant that a person could not even pick up a stick off the ground. However, all that changed when Jesus said, "For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day..........What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days." (Matthew 12:8,11-12).

Because Jesus rose from the grave on the first day of the week, most Christians worship Him on that day, this way we honor Him first as the Lord of our lives. The Sabbath day of rest has its counterpart in the New Covenant, "Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ." (Colossisans 2:16-17). Incidently, the Passover was replaced with a New Covenant at Jesus' final Passover when He instituted the Lord's Supper, "And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." (Matthew 26:26-28).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Our hearts rejoice with resounding thanksgiving, as we consider that You chose us before the world was made so that we could be Your holy people; people without blame before You.  Because of Your love, You chose to make us Your own children through Your Son, Jesus Christ.  We are set free by the blood of His death as You forgive us of our sins. Your awesome power is seen not only in the vast universe but in the hearts of men and women, boys and girls whose lives are submitted to Your divine authority. What a magnificent God we serve! In Jesus' name......Amen.

Have a wonderful and blessed week.
God Bless,
Christina

Facing Persecution 10.04.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are continuing our studies on the book of Matthew, please read Chapters 10-11 in your Bible or you can Click Here to read them online. You can also cut & paste the link to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matth ew%2010-11&version=9

Today we will read and learn about Jesus sending the twelve apostles on a mission; John the Baptist's questions; the judgement placed upon the unrepentant cities and the great invitation. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that Christian's will face much persecution by following Jesus, but we can not let them scare us, we must hold on to our faith.

When Jesus saw the multitudes of people He was moved with compassion and prayed for laborers to help. In answer to this need, Jesus chose just 12 ordinary men, "And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him." (Matthew 10:1-4).

He commanded them to reach the lost in Isreal, "And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat. And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence. And when ye come into an house, salute it. And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet." (7:7-14). We too are commanded to reach the lost and many will not accept us, but just as the apostles were told to shake it off, we too are to shake it off. We have to realize that it is not personal, they could be having a bad day or have been convicted by something that they are dealing with personally. We must move on and keep going.

He also warned them, "Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles." (7:16-18). We who are Jesus' sheep face the same wolves who are constantly against us. Christian's will continue to be persecuted until the end of the earth, often pressured to compromise with the teachings of the world. It is during this persecution that we discover that we must depend on the Good Shepherd to lead us to safety. If we follow our Shepherd, we will have sheep-like qualities capable of being innocent and dependent on the Lord Jesus. Just as sheep wander off and fall easily into the hands of prey, we too fall. That is why we need our Shepherd to keep us from going astray.

Only with Jesus are we able to stand boldly in the face of our fiercest enemy and live. "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven." (10:28-32). Jesus

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
How special it is to know that we will not appear as a stranger before You in heaven, but You will call us by name for You are thoroughly acquainted with us. As a loving father cares for his child so You care for us, your children. You place us in the palm of Your hand and no enemy can snatch us from Your protective and loving care. What a tremendous and calm feeling this brings to our hearts. In Jesus' name......Amen.

Have a wonderful and blessed day!
God bless you,
Christina

Bible Study: False Prophets

False Prophets 10.03.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are continuing our studies on the book of Matthew, please read Chapters 7-9 in your Bible or Click Here to read them online. You can also cut & paste the link to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matth ew%207-9&version=9

Today we will read and learn about Jesus's warning about false prophets; His preaching and miracles; and the call of Matthew. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that modern day culture pressures us to believe that every religion will get you to heaven, but we can not be decieved. There is only one way to heaven and that is through the Lord, Jesus Christ, therefore it is of uttermost imporatace that we read God's Word to learn the truth.

It is greatly assumed by people in the world today that heaven can be obtained however they choose to believe. Jesus warned His disciples of the false prophets that expose these lies, "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire." (Matthew 7:15-19). What this means is that people will come to you as if they know the truth, they even quote true Scripture from the Bible. They appear to be a disciple of Jesus yet beyond their appearance is evil.

Without a doubt, eternal life is a free gift from God, "(God) Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:" (II Timothy 1:9-10). Teaching is false when it offers eternal life without a changed life.

So how do we know if someone is a true Christan or just a Christian on the surface? Jesus said, "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." (Matthew 7:21-23). Once again, we can not obtain heaven by our works. No matter what you do, if you have not accepted Jesus into your life you do not get to heaven.

There is an easy access to the gate of heaven and that is Jesus Christ, but many will not get through because they insist or are being told that as long as they are good and sincere they will get to heaven. The truth is that we are all sinners, no one is exempt from that except Jesus and if we want to get to heaven we must admit that and accept that Jesus died for us to take all our sin away. He is the only mediator to God and men. "For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time." (I Timothy 2:3-6).

If you want to learn more on this subject please visit my website, Click Here, it includes Scripture showing how you can know that you are going to heaven.

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Without the shed blood of Your Son, Jesus, we are weighed down by the shackles of sin.  It spreads as a disease from our hearts to our minds separating us from our Creator and making us a bond slave to Satan.  Thank You for sending Jesus, the spotless Lamb of God, who by His intense love and sacrificial death, freed us from the sin that ensnared us.  He turned our mourning into dancing as He lifted our condemnation and replaced it with eternal hope. In Jesus' name.....Amen.

Have a wonderful and blessed day!
God Bless You,
Christina

Avoid Satan's Control 10.02.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are continuing our studies on the book of Matthew, please read Chapters 4-6 in your Bible or Click Here to read them online. You can also cut & paste the link to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matth ew%204-6&version=9

Today we will read and learn about Jesus being tempted by satan; the sermon and the Mount; believers equated with salt and light; and Jesus teaching on the Law. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that temptation is all around us, we must subject to God's Will and not that of our flesh. Putting God first allows many blessings in our lives and keeps satan from taking control.

After Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River He was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil, He was tempted three times. "Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred."(Matthew 4:1-2).

First, the devil trempted His hunger, "And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread." (4:3). Since Jesus was also a man made of the same flesh as the rest of us, He was capable of falling into sin. Satan suggeste d an easy, self serving way to get Him to satisfy His flesh, but Jesus knew that submitting to the Will of God needed to come first. "But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." (4:4). God must be the basis for all decisions that we make. He knows our needs and will never tempt us beyond what we are capable of handling. Such testing is a necessary part of our lives, for it reveals our true character.

Secondly, the devil tempted His emotions, "Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone." (4:5-6). Satan even quoted Scriputre to try and get Jesus to present Himself in front of the people as the Messiah, trying to appeal to the pride of the flesh. "Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God." (4:7). Satan will quote Scripture just enough to get us to think that he appears religious in order to fall for his shcemes. It is of utter most importance that we learn the entire Bible, including the Old Testament so that we too can resist his temptations.

Finally, the devil attempted to seduce Jesus, "Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me." (4:8-9). Satan suggested an easy way for Jesus to avoid all the pain and suffering that He was about to endure on the cross and still be able to rule the kingdoms. Jesus knew that yeilding to the devil even once would have made Him a sinner voiding Him from doing what He was brought here to do. "Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him." (4:10-11). We can never yield to temptation even once, this only leads to more temptation and sin beyond our control.

The world often suggests that in order to be successful in life that we need to take care of me, myself, and I. They are lead to belive that physcial satisfaction, personal recognition, and personal achievement are the only way to be happy and content.

There are many books that tell us how to gain material success, but few tell of the success that can be attained by putting God and others before ourselves. Jesus reveals how false and deceptive this way of thinking is and leads us to recognize that we are in fact nothing if we try to do everything ourselves without God. No material thing can replace the love and blessings awaiting us not only in heaven, but here on earth by putting God first, others second, and ourselves last.

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
We are confronted with deception on many fronts every day, so much so, that we can be deceived without even realizing it.  Would You help us to watch out and be on our guard so that we are not deceived by man's words, no matter how convincing they are, how charming their personality, or how cunning their craft.  Help us not to fall for Satan's deceptive tactics that have brought down believers throughout the church age. We seek You for strength and discipline. Bible Study: The Wrong Friends

10.03.08 (9:04 pm)   [edit]

The Wrong Friends 10.01.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we are beginning our studies on the book of Matthew, please read Chapters 1-3 in your Bible or you cna Click Here to read them online. You can also cut & paste the link to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matth ew%201-3&version=9\

The first four books in the New Testament are the Gospels. These books record the birth, life, ministry, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The approach of each book differs stressing His role in different ways.

The book of Matthew is the 1st book of the New Testament and contains 28 chapters. The author of the book was Matthew and it was written to all believers, although the first intended audience was the Jews to whom he presented Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of David. The purpose of the book is to present the ministry of Jesus, stressing His role as King of the Jews. What we are to learn from the book is that the final command of Jesus before He decended up to heaven to His followers was to go to all nations with the Gospel, that includes us.

The birth of Jesus had taken place and wise men were led by a star to see Him, but when they arrived in Jerusalem He was not there. "Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him." (Matthew 2:1-2).

When King Herod heard the men say, "King of the Jews" he was displeased and plotted to kill Jesus. Herod then sent the wise men to Bethlehem to find the baby, "And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also. When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy." (2:8-10).

It took the wise men about two years to reach Jesus as we read, "And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh." (2:11). The gifts presented to Him had a special meaning, the gold symbolized Him as the King of Kings since gold was the most fitting gift for a king. The frankincense, a sweet perfume used on the Altar of Incense in the Temple, symbolized prayer ascending to God. And myrrh symbolized His death, myrrh was often used as a spice for burial.

In the providence of God, their gifts also provided adequate resources for Joseph and Mary's journey and stay in Egypt, where they remained until the death of Herod. "And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene." (2:23).

Herod is typical of those of the world who use Christian's as a means to get what they want, they befriend you just enough for their needs to be met only to run or even cause harm when they get it. We can not waste our time and energy trying to please the world, in the end all we get is grief. We must stay focused on God, put our trust in Him, and let Him guide us, if not, we could end up leaving this earth way before our time and never get what was intended for us.

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
We place our complete trust in You, for You are a faithful, trustworthy, and loving God.  As we feed on Your faithfulness and live by Your righteousness revealed to us through the Scriptures we find ourselves delighting in Your presence.   We also delight in You when we sing praises, when we give ourselves in service to others, and most especially when we commune with You in prayer. May the desires of our heart bring delight to Yours as we conform ourselves to Your will and rid ourselves of that which lures us from the safe pasture You have abundantly supplied for those who believe.  In Jesus' name.....Amen

Have a great and wonderful day!
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Giving Tithe

10.01.08 (5:02 pm)   [edit]

Giving Tithe 09.30.08

Hello My Friend/Guest,

Today we will study the book of Malachi, please read Chapters 1-4 in your Bible or Click Here to read them online. You can also cut & paste this link to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Malac hi%201-4&version=9

The book of Malachi is the 39th and final book of the Old Testament and contains 4 chapters. The author of the book is Malachi and it was written to the nation of Israel. The purpose of the book was to call the nation to repentance and return to righteousness. What we are to learn from the book is that repentance of sins plus returning to God equals restortion. Both are necessary in order to be forgiven and restoring a right relationship with God.

The first generations that returned to Jerusalem with Zerubbabel to rebuild the Temple were no longer alive and the generations that followed had once again lost sight of God and their purpose for Him. The people were confused and did not understand God's plan, but Malachi declared God may not always be fully understood, but He is only questioned by those who reject or neglet His Word. "And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you. If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart." (Malachi 2:1-2).

God pronounced His judgement upon them."And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts. For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed." (3:5). Anyone who believes that they can gain guidance or information about the future through sorcery, which includes communication with the dead, fortune tellers, and astrologers is being misled. This is evil and deceiving.

Malachi then declared that the Israelites were thieves who rob God, "Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation." (3:8-9). The people were cursed with a curse because the tithes belonged to God for the spiritual needs of the people and the support of the priesthood, they had ignored the command to honor the LORD.

Giving one tenth of our income to God expresses our faith in Him and shows God that we acknowledge Him as the source. Tithing expresses our love and graditude toward Him and shows God that we are thankful for the financial blessings that we received. "But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver." (II Corinthians 9:6-7).

In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed through the Messenger of the Covenant, (Malachi 3:1). Jesus in the new Covenant, "And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." (Matthew 26:26-28).

Today's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
We will never fully comprehend the depth of Your sacrificial death where we see man at his worst and God at His best. In my place You took my guilt and shame as You became the guilt offering pouring out Your life unto death and taking on my iniquity. You gave all so that I could be forgiven. Though my sins were as scarlet they were washed white as snow, cleansed by the saving blood of the sinless Lamb. You turned my hopeless condition into a life full of hope for this life and glorious anticipation for eternal life beyond the grave.  Nothing in all of history will ever compare to the Divine Exchange where my sins were exchanged for Your pardon. I walk in newness of life and in the power of the resurrected Savior.  Praise Your name, Lord Jesus! In Jesus' name.....Amen.

Have a great and mighty day!
God Bless,
Christina
