Today's Message: God's Vengeance
As Christians we will be faced with many people who will try to tempt and deceive us, but as long as we keep our focus on God He will protect us.
The Midianites were descendants of Abraham through his second wife Keturah, whom he married after Sarah died (See Genesis 25:1-2). The Midianites had devastated Israel, not as enemies who had won a war, but as friendly idol worshipers who seduced the Israelites into committing spiritual adultery. With the help of Balaam, Israel had become involved in the worship of their pagan deity Baal-peor followed by physical adultery with their women. This had resulted in the death of 24,000 Israelites (see Numbers 25).
Because of their deception God told Moses to get ready for war. "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Avenge the children of Israel of the Midianites: afterward shalt thou be gathered unto thy people. And Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm some of yourselves unto the war, and let them go against the Midianites, and avenge the LORD of Midian." (Numbers 31:1-3). We who are sinners are blessed to be saved by the blood of Jesus, but that does not mean that we will not be chastised for them. However, our mere punishment from God is no where near the punishment that those who entice or provoke us will receive. God avenges all His children.
Although Israel's army numbered more than six hundred thousand, only a small army of twelve thousand men were used to accomplish God's purpose. "So there were delivered out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand of every tribe, twelve thousand armed for war. And Moses sent them to the war, a thousand of every tribe, them and Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war, with the holy instruments, and the trumpets to blow in his hand. And they warred against the Midianites, as the LORD commanded Moses; and they slew all the males." (31:5-7).
Among the thousands of Midianites that were slaughtered, we learn that Balaam too had been. "And they slew the kings of Midian, beside the rest of them that were slain; namely, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword." (31:8). Balaam belonged to the great number of people who pray to God for His Will upon their lives yet are quick to jump at the best opportunity to suit their needs.
Greed and compromise have deceived many and unfortunately many people die unsaved before they realize it's too late. There is a day of recompense awaiting both the saved and the lost, so we must live according to God's Will regardless of who has wronged us. "Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord." (Romans 12:17-19). You can rest assure that when God's people suffer injustice and cruelty at the hands of the godless they are to remember that vengence is His. God will not let any of His children suffer.
Today's Psalm: 94:1
"O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself."
Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
I pray for a discerning spirit to help me recognize truth from falsehood. Help me to know when others are lying and help me also to recognize the lies I tell myself. You always speak the truth and You declare that which is right from that which is wrong. When the world describes a lifestyle or belief system to be good and You declare it to be evil, help me to stand firm upon Your holy truths as I faithfully read them in the Scriptures. Give me bold conviction to stand firm for truth even when it seems as though no one stands with me. Be with me, guide me, and protect me from deception. In Jesus' name.............Amen.
Have a wonderful night/day.
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Sound of Trumpets

Today's Message: Sound of Trumpets
When we consider the trumpets sounding the end of time as we know it, the Word of God becomes all the more meaningful
The Israelites' civil year began in the fall with the Feast of Trumpets, It was held on the first day of October, which began the Jewish civil New Year. By this time, the harvest was over and the silver trumpets called them from the busy cares and thoughts of earthly things that had occupied their time for many months. "And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work: it is a day of blowing the trumpets unto you." (Numbers 29:1). Unlike our Julian calendar which marks the New Year on January 1, the Hebrew calendar paradoxically features two different months to designate the start a new year. Each depends on the event to be recognized. Since the Lord listed the First month in Exodus as being during the time of the Passover, Nisan (which roughly corresponds to our March/April depending on the lunar cycle) is generally considered the first month of the Hebrew Year.
Instead of blowing the trumpets at the time of offering the sacrifice, it was a day of blowing trumpets from morning to evening. In addition to the daily sacrifices, eleven animals were offered on the first of every month. "And in the beginnings of your months ye shall offer a burnt offering unto the LORD; two young bullocks, and one ram, seven lambs of the first year without spot; And three tenth deals of flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, for one bullock; and two tenth deals of flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, for one ram; And a several tenth deal of flour mingled with oil for a meat offering unto one lamb; for a burnt offering of a sweet savour, a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD. And their drink offerings shall be half an hin of wine unto a bullock, and the third part of an hin unto a ram, and a fourth part of an hin unto a lamb: this is the burnt offering of every month throughout the months of the year. And one kid of the goats for a sin offering unto the LORD shall be offered, beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering." (Numbers 28:11-15). They offered a young bullock, a ram, and seven lambs with the usual Meat (Meal) Offering, and an additional Sin Offering. Even in this scene of thanksgiving and worship, the sin offering was needed.
The Feast of Trumpets was followed ten days after by the solemn Day of Atonement, which was followed by the Feast of Tabernacles. It was a time of great rejoicing and lasted for seven days, from the 15th through the 21st of Tishri (September/October). "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the LORD.........And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days. And ye shall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month." (Leviticus 23:33-34,40-41). The Feast of Tabernacles was the last festival of the religious year. For seven days, all the residents of Israel dwelt in temporary booths (tabernacles, shelters) as an annual reminder of the time when they dwelt in tents during the 40 years in the wilderness. The trees used for these temporary dwellings also had symbolic meanings. The trees provided shade as well as reminded the people of the Lord's protection and provision. The palm tree was the emblem of victory and the olive tree was a symbol of peace and God's presence. The willow tree of the brook signified a thriving and blessed people.
The longest period of time between any of the feasts was between the Feast of Weeks (Pentecost) in the early part of Summer and the Feasts of the Trumpets in in the fall. During the intervening months there was no fixed time appointed when God would meet with His people. The long period of time is the design of God foretelling the long lapse of time from the arrival of the Holy Spirit as promised by our Savior on the day of Pentecost to the return of Christ. Almost two thousand years have passed since Christ's death and resurrection, we need to remind ourselves every time the sun sets that we are one day closer to that great day.
Today's Psalm: 47:5-9
"God is gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet. Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises."
Have a wonderful and blessed night/day and enjoy the rest of your week.

Bible Study: Disobeying God's Commands
Today is Tuesday February 24, 2009 and we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers. Please read Numbers Chapters 26-27 in your Bible. You can also read the chapters by clicking on the link above or by copying and pasting this link into your browser: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbe rs" title="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbe rs" target="_blank"http://www.biblegateway.com/p...%2026-27&version=9
Today's Message: Disobeying God's Commands
It had been nearly 40 years since the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt. A new census had been conducted and all except three of the 603,550 men included in that first census died, those men were Moses, Joshua, and Caleb. "These are they that were numbered by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho. But among these there was not a man of them whom Moses and Aaron the priest numbered, when they numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai. For the LORD had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun." (Numbers 26:63-65).
Another major event was to take place before the Israelites could enter the promised land. Moses was unable to enter the promised land, therefore they were about to get a new leader. "And the LORD said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel. And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered. For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the water before their eyes: that is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin. And Moses spake unto the LORD, saying, Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation, Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the LORD be not as sheep which have no shepherd. And the LORD said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him; And set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight." (27:12-19).
As we read on chapter twenty Moses was not allowed to enter the promised land because he disobeyed God's command. The Israelites were complaining of thirst and God had commanded Moses to take the rod and speak to the rock, instead he spoke to the people in anger. "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink. And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him. And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock? And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also. And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them." (Numbers 20:7-12). His mistake was that he did not fully acknowledge God in the miracle, but included for himself equal honor and authority that belonged to God alone. The rod symbolized the authority of God and Moses represented that authority before the nation but, on this one occasion, he represented the authority of himself.
Only one sin kept Moses from the promised land, but Moses represented the Law of God, which could not allow even one exception. The Law of God could never bring one man, not even Moses into the promised land for disobeying His commands. Yet, Moses had to die and Joshua had to take his place in order for the coming of Jesus to take place. Coincidentally, Jesus' Name in Hebrew was also Joshua (Yeshua), which means God is Salvation.
Today, we are saved from those laws through Jesus, but we must accept Him in order to enjoy that salvation. Although we are forgiven and saved that does not mean that we will not face consequences for our continued sins, we must make an effort to change our sinful habits or else we will never grow.
Today's Psalm: 92:12-13
"The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God."
Today's Prayer:
Dear Jesus,
Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner. I believe that You came to this earth and died on the cross as a substitute for me. I place my faith in You and what You have done for me. I receive You into my life and choose this day to follow and serve You. In Your mighty name, Jesus...........Amen.
Have a wonderful and blessed night/day and enjoy the rest of your week.

Bible Study: Drawn Into Worldly Lusts
Today is Monday February 23, 2009 and we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers. Please read Numbers Chapters 23-25 in your Bible. You can read the chapters by clicking on the link or you can copy and paste this link into your browser: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbe rs" title="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbe rs" target="_blank"http://www.biblegateway.com/p...%2023-25&version=9
Today's Message: Drawn Into Worldly Lusts
As Christian's we are all faced with huge worldly lusts that try to compromise our relationship with God. It is important not to be drawn into them before we face the consequences.
The last encampment of the Israelites on the eastern side of the Jordan River was on the Plains of Moab northeast of the Dead Sea near Mount Nebo, a few miles south of today's Amman, Jordan. Everything seemed peaceful, with no apparent dangers, but the nearby Moabites were fearful of the multitude of Israelites who had defied, Pharoh, left Egypt, and conquered everyone who opposed them on their way to Canaan. Because of this fear Balak, the king of Moab sought to bribe the prophet Balaam with huge rewards if he would curse the Israelites, which would have caused God to turn His back on them. " And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in the plains of Moab on this side Jordan by Jericho. And Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites. And Moab was sore afraid of the people, because they were many: and Moab was distressed because of the children of Israel. And Moab said unto the elders of Midian, Now shall this company lick up all that are round about us, as the ox licketh up the grass of the field. And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time. He sent messengers therefore unto Balaam the son of Beor to Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me: Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed." (Numbers 23:1-6).
Balak tried three times to bribe Balaam, but Balaam truly desired to live and die as a child of God. He even foretold of the most amazing prophetic revelations from God concerning the coming of the Messiah. "I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth." (24:17). Unfortunately, his desire to be wealthy soon caused him to compromise what he believed in. He came up with a scheme that would lead Israel into sin, assuring him of gaining that wealth.
He introduced the Israelite men to the Moabite women which quickly led them to become involved in sexual immorality and idol worship, thus breaking their covenant vow of allegiance to the One True God. "And Israel abode in Shi*tim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab. And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods. And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel. And the LORD said unto Moses, Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the LORD against the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel." (25:1-4). This disobedience resulted in a plague of death that swept through the tribes of Israel which resulted in the death of twenty-four thousand Israelites. Balaam knew the right Scriptures, but was unwilling to live the life of the righteous when he faced worldly lusts. It was one thing to be tempted by Balak once, but he continued until that temptation became an obsession.
Still today, our natural tendency is to be drawn away from God and toward worldly things. Even among Christians, the main topics of conversation are often centered around the things of the world. To test the true purpose of our interests, we need only to ask whether our desires lead us to God or away from Him. The Bible warns us of the dangers of worldly temptations and associations with those who pull us away from living righteously. " These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage. But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life." (Jude 1:16-21).
Today's Psalm: 96:10
"Say among the heathen that the LORD reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously."
Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
Help us to fight off our flesh. We don't want to be controlled by the whims of our emotions. Kill off any greed, pride, jealousy, or worldly lusts that try to get us to compromise our relationship with You. We want to be vessels of your love and wisdom. Thank you, Holy Spirit for the work that you're doing in us even at this moment and continue to fill us with Your Spirit so that we are walking with You and not our flesh. Bible Study: Judgment From Desbelief
Today is Sunday February 22, 2009 and we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers. Please read Numbers Chapters 21-22 in your Bible. You can also read them here by clicking on the link or copying and pasting this link into your browser: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbe rs" title="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbe rs" target="_blank"http://www.biblegateway.com/p...%2021-22&version=9
Today's Message: Judgment From Disbelief
Many people do not realize that discouragement leads God to think that we do not believe that He can take care of us. This is actually a sin and leads to suffering.
The Israelites were near their last encampment and would soon cross the Jordan River to enter into the promised land. Some of them had been children when they left Egypt with their parents, others were born in the wilderness. As they approached the Red sea they became discouraged and once again began complaining. This time their unbelief caused death by fiery serpents. "And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way. And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread. And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died." (Numbers 21:4-6). The Israelites were foolish to think that God would have taken them so close to the promised land and not provide a way from them to get there. So many people today suffer severely because of their unbelief.
Once the Israelites realized their sin they went to Moses and asked him to pray to
God. "Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people. And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live. And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived." (21:7-9). The response to Moses' prayer was immediate and the people left were once again saved from death. The brass serpent was a symbol both of God's judgment against their sin and of His mercy and love for all who repented and truly believed in Him.
God is loving and faithful and in no way does He want us to suffer. Many people ask why there is so much suffering in the world if He is so loving. The reason is unbelief and rebellious lifestyles. In fact God rather you not know Him at all then to say you do and ignore Him. It is as if you had a child and the child wants nothing to do with you. "I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth." (Revelation 3:15-16). God will not acknowledge anyone who has lukewarm feelings toward Him.
We are all children of God whether we choose to believe that or not, but the truth is that the majority of people who know God exists refuse to know Him because they do not want to give up their worldly lifestyles. We can not live for the world and for God, too many people try to do just that and unfortunately have no one to blame except themselves when they are faced with God's judgment. "No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." (Luke 16:13)
Now, on occasion God will send us trials which seem like judgment, but they are tests to strengthen and increase our faith in Him. " And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong." (II Corinthians 12:9-10).
Today's Psalm: 18:2
"The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower."
Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
thank you for your plan for our lives. You are the one, sovereign God, and you are all powerful in every aspect of our lives. We want to turn it all over to you, but there are parts of us, that we're so reluctant to release. We might not even know what it is that we're holding on to, but we can feel that part of our flesh is ruling us more than it should. Holy Spirit, sweep through us. Help us to see what it is that we're unable to let go of, and then minister to our hearts so that we can trust you in that area. Speak to us through your word today as we study. Show us something new about yourself or our relationship with you. In Jesus' name.............Amen.
Have a wonderful and blessed Lords Day.

Bible Study: Be Washed
Today is Saturday February 21, 2009 and we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers. Please read Chapters 19-20 in your Bible. You can also read the chapters by clicking on the link or by copying and pasting this link into your browser: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbe rs" title="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbe rs" target="_blank"http://www.biblegateway.com/p...%2019-20&version=9
Today's Message: Be Washed
It is very important that we daily be washed from the things that defile our bodies.
The law of the red heifer was introduced following the death of the 14,700 Israelites after they followed Korah. " And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,This is the ordinance of the law which the LORD hath commanded, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring thee a red heifer without spot, wherein is no blemish, and upon which never came yoke: And ye shall give her unto Eleazar the priest, that he may bring her forth without the camp, and one shall slay her before his face: And Eleazar the priest shall take of her blood with his finger, and sprinkle of her blood directly before the tabernacle of the congregation seven times: And one shall burn the heifer in his sight; her skin, and her flesh, and her blood, with her dung, shall he burn: And the priest shall take cedar wood, and hyssop, and scarlet, and cast it into the midst of the burning of the heifer." (Numbers 19:1-6). The red heifer sacrifice was instituted in the wilderness of Paran at a time when all Israel was under the sentence of death. The blood of the red heifer was burned with the carcass, and then its ashes were mixed with running water and sprinkled upon the defiled ones in order to restore them to the holy God.
Through the red heifer ordinance, God gave a new revelation of the importance of cleansing from defilement. Whether it be through our thoughts, our conversations, the books we read, our associations with unbelievers, or whatever it may be that we may do that defiles our minds or bodies it is of uttermost importance that we cleanse ourselves from them. The red heifer sacrifice is symbolic of Jesus Christ who cleanses all from sin. Today, all we have to do to be washed clean from our sins is to drink the living water. "Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life." John 4:13-14).
To drink the daily water we read His Word, "That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish." (Ephesians 5:26-27). Of course we also need to call on Him for repentance, "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (II Peter 3:9).
Today's Psalm: 51:1-3
"Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me."
Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
I am full of gratitude today as I consider Your abiding presence in my life. You planned my existence in my mother's womb before I even drew my first breath. When so many people have come into my life and exited it throughout the years You have taken up residence and You forever rule my heart. When the path before me was unclear You have always gone before me sustaining me in my wilderness journey. Though all forsake me You remain faithful, and remarkable as it seems, even if we are faithless, You will remain faithful, for You cannot deny Yourself. Thank You for being my Savior. In Jesus' name..........Amen.
Have a wonderful and blessed day/night and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Bible Study: Promised Land
Today is Thursday February 19, 2009 and we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers.
Today's Bible Reading: Numbers Chapters 14-15

Today's Message: Promised Land
God promises us a wonderful life, but we must be willing to let Him guide us to the promised land.
Leaving the wilderness of Sinai, the Israelites were led northward, for the first time the people could actually see the promised land lying before them. A leader from each tribe went to spy out the land. "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them. And Moses by the commandment of the LORD sent them from the wilderness of Paran: all those men were heads of the children of Israel." (Numbers 13:1-3).
The march from Egypt, including the 12-month stay at Mount Sinai (Horeb), had taken about 16 months. Now they stood on the threshold of that glorious promised land. For forty days they searched the land, "So they went up, and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, as men come to Hamath. And they ascended by the south, and came unto Hebron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.) And they came unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they brought of the pomegranates, and of the figs. The place was called the brook Eshcol, because of the cluster of grapes which the children of Israel cut down from thence. And they returned from searching of the land after forty days." (13:21-25).
When they returned carrying a single cluster of grapes so large it took two men to carry it. The grapes were a confirmation of its extraordinary fruitfulness. Caleb and Joshua, two of the twelve were quick to say that they could take the land, but the other ten discouraged it and caused chaos with all the Israelite's. "And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night. And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness! And wherefore hath the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt? And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt." (14:1-4). The children of Israel were determined to decide for themselves what was best rather than look to the Lord. The Israelites then changed their minds; but the Lord forbade them to go into the land.
This marked the end of their journey to the land of promise and the beginning of forty years of wilderness wanderings. "Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you: Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward which have murmured against me. Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun. But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised. But as for you, your carcases, they shall fall in this wilderness. And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness. After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise." (14:28-34).
Although the Israelites admitted without repenting that they had sinned, they did not pray for guidance, but they immediately decided to sin again. First they sinned by their unbelief that God would help them conquer the land. Then they sinned by their presumptuous self confidence in deciding to enter the promised land even after Moses had told them not to.
Today, many people are self sufficient, independent, and determined to guide their own lives. They feel they do not need God to help them through anything and disregard Him all together. Consequently, they forfeit the many promises of the abundant provision of the Lord.
Growing up in a fatherless home one can become pretty independent, but even the strongest person needs God's guidance. Without Him we are weak and vulnerable to every evil our there and what might seem like the opportunity of a lifetime ends up being total disaster. It is not possible to go against the will of God and prosper, there may be temporary joy, but it never lasts. We must put aside all of our pride and humbly seek God for He truly is the only one that can guide us to the promised land. "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matthew 6:33).
Today's Psalm: 9:9-10
"The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee."
Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
We are confronted with deception on many fronts every day, so much so, that we can be deceived without even realizing it. Would You help us to watch out and be on our guard so that we are not deceived by man’s words, no matter how convincing they are, how charming their personality, or how cunning their craft. Help us not to fall for Satan’s deceptive tactics that have brought down believers throughout the church age. We seek You for strength and discipline. We search the Scriptures for discernment and the true revelation of who Jesus is; the Son of the Living God. In Jesus' name..........Amen.
Have a wonderful and blessed day/night.
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Consuming Pride
Today is Wednesday February 18, 2009 and we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers.
Today's Bible Reading: Numbers Chapters 12-13
You can read the chapters by clicking on the link above, if the link does not work you can copy and paste this link into your browser: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbe rs" title="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbe rs" target="_blank"http://www.biblegateway.com/p...%2012-13&version=9
Today's Message: Consuming Pride
If we are not careful we can let pride consume us and destroy every effort that we have made at serving God effectively.
God had placed Moses' brother and sister in positions of great honor. Miriam was honored above all the women of Israel, she had a prophetic anointing, and was gifted in music and singing. Aaron had the privileged responsibility of being the first high priest. However, Miriam and Aaron disapproved of Moses' new marriage and spoke against him. "And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it. (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.) " (Numbers 12:1-3).
Suddenly, the Lord demanded to meet with Miriam, Aaron, and Moses. Miriam may have been delighted, thinking that God was just as displeased with Moses as she was, and would agree with her criticism. "And the LORD spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out.And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth. And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream. My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses? And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous." (12:4-10). Miriam experienced an overwhelming shock when God made her leprous for seven days. She succeeded, as many others have, in making it appear that her concern came from a spiritual motived, but God saw through her pride, jealousy, and hurt feelings.
It was the God ordained leadership of Moses, not his choice of a wife or what he was teaching, that was being questioned. The progress of a church can be greatly hindered because of jealousy over someone else receiving recognition when another thought that he was more qualified and more deserving. However, we must not allow these things to cause us to sin by taking a stand against God appointed authority. What happens is that the possession of spiritual gifts can lead to pride which, in turn, leads to jealousy if others with similar spiritual gifts appear to be competitors. When someone we have known as less qualified is promoted above us in our office or given recognition, we may be tempted to fall into Miriam's sin of criticizing. Pride reveals itself in many forms. It may be based on physical beauty, wealth, education, or talents; but pride is a self-destructive and self-deceptive sin. Jesus, who was meek and humble said, "Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth." (Matthew 5:5).
Because you were bought by the blood of Jesus, think how valuable you are to God,you aregiven special gifts that allowyou to serve Him effectively (successfully). Of course there are others who have similar gifts, but each person is unique and assists Him accordingly. You may not always get recognized by others, but you can rest assure that God recognizes all of your efforts and you will be blessed for them. One day a great surprise will come your way that will show you just how much your efforts are appreciated.
Today's Psalm: 24:4-5
"He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation."
Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
Nothing brings abiding peace more than knowing that we are saved from the penalty of sin and that we are firmly grounded in Your holy precepts. It makes us feel safe in a struggling world that continues to search for knowledge from all the wrong sources. We are sound in our outlook when we align our understanding and convictions with the teachings of Christ, His disciples and the prophets of old. We speak wisdom among those who are mature; a wisdom, however, not of this age nor from the authority of this world that changes from year to year. Our wisdom is based upon our knowledge and understanding of You, our eternal Father, the One who changes not. In You we are saved and we are sound. In Jesus' name.........Amen.
Have a wonderful day/night and enjoy the rest of your week.

Bible Study: Daily Bread
Hello My Friend/Guest,
Today is Tuesday February 17, 2009 and we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers.
Today's Bible Reading: Numbers Chapters 10-11
You can read the chapters by clicking on the link above, if the link does not work you can copy and paste this link into your browser: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbe rs" title="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbe rs" target="_blank"http://www.biblegateway.com/p...%2010-11&version=9
Today's Message: Daily Bread
Each day we need to ask God for our Daily Bread. Past blessings are enjoyable to remember. But, just as the manna was new each day, so should the blessings and experiences that we have with God be.
God commanded Moses to make two trumpets, whether they worshiped, went to war, or journeyed, every move of the people was to be in obedience to the various sounds of trumpets. "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,Make thee two trumpets of silver; of a whole piece shalt thou make them: that thou mayest use them for the calling of the assembly, and for the journeying of the camps. And when they shall blow with them, all the assembly shall assemble themselves to thee at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation." (Numbers 10:1-3). The two silver trumpets represent the truth of God's Word and remind us that both the Old and the New Testaments are each a part of the whole Word of God.
God's people are to be fully dependent upon and subject to the will of God as revealed in His Word. If our hearts are accustomed to hearing the true silver trumpet, His voice through His Word, we will then be in harmony with the Holy Spirit's prompting as to what we should or should not do.
The Israelites were now on their way to the promised land, as they journeyed toward the land of Canaan, all they had to do was trust God and move forward in conquest of the land filled with milk and honey. However, once again they began complaining because all they were given to eat was manna. "And when the people complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp. And the people cried unto Moses; and when Moses prayed unto the LORD, the fire was quenched. And he called the name of the place Taberah: because the fire of the LORD burnt among them. And the mixt multitude that was among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick:But now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all, beside this manna, before our eyes. And the manna was as coriander seed, and the colour thereof as the colour of bdellium. And the people went about, and gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in a mortar, and baked it in pans, and made cakes of it: and the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil." (Numbers 11:1-8). The remarkable thing about the manna was that this miraculous food had to be gathered daily (except on the Sabbath), for it could not be preserved from one day to the next. And there was a sufficient amount each day for the several million men, women, and children to eat and remain healthy.
The manna was symbolic of Christ Jesus, the true Bread from Heaven. "Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst." (John 6:31-35). We must read the Bible daily if we are to receive spiritual insight and strength for the day. Past blessings in reading the Word are not sufficient to satisfy today's spiritual needs. Each day we are drained spiritually, often when we feel the need to feed our bodies, but in reality it's our spirits that we need to feed.
Today's Psalm: 101:14-15
"He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth; And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart."
Today's Prayer:
Dear Jesus,
It is in my hour of need that I see Your powerful provision in my life. When I'm in need of comfort, You are my Comforter. When I'm in need of courage You go before me. When I'm in need of friendship You are my friend that sticks closer than a brother. When I'm in need of stability You are the Anchor for my soul. When I'm in need of finances You own the cattle on a thousand hills. When I'm in need of peace You are the peacemaker. When I'm in need of food You are the Bread of Life. When I'm thirsty You are the living water that leads to eternal life. You are my Shepherd and I shall never be in want of anything.Thank You for meeting every need I have.In Your mighty name, Jesus...............Amen.
Have a wonderful day/night and enjoy the rest of your week.

Bible Study: Directed & Protected
Hello My Friend/Guest,
Today is Monday February 16, 2009 and we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers.
Today's Bible Reading: Numbers 8-9
You can read the chapters by clicking on the link above, if the link does not work you can copy and paste this link into your browser: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbe rs" title="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbe rs" target="_blank"http://www.biblegateway.com/p...%208-9&version=9
Today's Message: Directed & Proteced
If we allow God to direct our paths He will make sure we are protected froma worldthat does not accept the life of a Christian.
The nation celebrates its second Passover, "And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying,Let the children of Israel also keep the passover at his appointed season." (Numbers 9:1-2). The Israelites gained their freedom from Egypt and the control of Pharaoh after they observed the first Passover. Freedom from the cruel slavery of Pharaoh in Egypt meant that now they were free to follow the leadership of the One True God.
It was of vital importance that they remember the One who freed them from slavery. Not only were they to partake of the Passover Feast, but they were also required to bring the Lord's offering, "The fourteenth day of the second month at even they shall keep it, and eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. They shall leave none of it unto the morning, nor break any bone of it: according to all the ordinances of the passover they shall keep it.But the man that is clean, and is not in a journey, and forbeareth to keep the passover, even the same soul shall be cut off from among his people: because he brought not the offering of the LORD in his appointed season, that man shall bear his sin.And if a stranger shall sojourn among you, and will keep the passover unto the LORD; according to the ordinance of the passover, and according to the manner thereof, so shall he do: ye shall have one ordinance, both for the stranger, and for him that was born in the land." (9:11-14). Today, our observance of the Lord's Supper is an acknowledgment of our freedom from sin and that we have become children of God.
God determined the journey of the Israelite tribes and he also provided them with the protection they needed in order to accomplish His purpose for them. "And on the day that the tabernacle was reared up the cloud covered the tabernacle, namely, the tent of the testimony: and at even there was upon the tabernacle as it were the appearance of fire, until the morning. So it was alway: the cloud covered it by day, and the appearance of fire by night. And when the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle, then after that the children of Israel journeyed: and in the place where the cloud abode, there the children of Israel pitched their tents. At the commandment of the LORD the children of Israel journeyed, and at the commandment of the LORD they pitched: as long as the cloud abode upon the tabernacle they rested in their tents. And when the cloud tarried long upon the tabernacle many days, then the children of Israel kept the charge of the LORD, and journeyed not.And so it was, when the cloud was a few days upon the tabernacle; according to the commandment of the LORD they abode in their tents, and according to the commandment of the LORD they journeyed." (9:15-20). Thiswas designed to establish Israel's confidence in the presence of God to protect and direct them to the promised land.
Just as God directed and protected the Israelites He has a plan for you as you journey through life. When God is our Guide, what is there to fear? God protects all who serve Him, "For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake. But there shall not an hair of your head perish." (Luke 21:15-18). God hasprovided a reliable threefold Guide for direction throughout life, His perfect Word, the indwelling Holy Spirit, and the power of prayer. When we are obedient to Him, His presence enlightens our minds, strengthens our lives and guides our steps to a great journey that is better than we ever expected.
Today's Psalm: 18:3
"I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved frommine enemies."
Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
The solutions to our problems can be very perplexing and seem beyond our grasp. There are many things about tomorrow that we don't seem to understand, but we know Who holds tomorrow, and weknow Who holds our hand. Thank you, God, that You don't expect us to have all the right answers or to fully understand all that concerns us.You simply want us to trust You as we hold on to Your unchanging hand while You go before us making our paths straight.Keep directing and protecting us along the way. In Jesus' name...........Amen.
Have a wonderful and blessed day/night and week.

Christina

Bible Study: Giving
Today is Sunday February 15, 2009 and we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers.
Today's Bible Reading: Numbers Chapter 7
You can read the chapter by clicking on the link above, if the link does not work you can copy and paste this link into your browser: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbe rs" title="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbe rs" target="_blank"http://www.biblegateway.com/p...%207&version=9
Today's Message: Giving
God gives each Christian varying spiritual opportunities and responsibilities, but Everyone is equally important in the eyes of God.
As we read through this chapter it may seem uninteresting and monotonous as weread of the offerings given each day by the twelve tribes. "And it came to pass on the day that Moses had fully set up the tabernacle, and had anointed it, and sanctified it, and all the instruments thereof, both the altar and all the vessels thereof, and had anointed them, and sanctified them; That the princes of Israel, heads of the house of their fathers, who were the princes of the tribes, and were over them that were numbered, offered:And they brought their offering before the LORD, six covered wagons, and twelve oxen; a wagon for two of the princes, and for each one an ox: and they brought them before the tabernacle. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,Take it of them, that they may be to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation; and thou shalt give them unto the Levites, to every man according to his service." (Numbers 7:1-5). It is significant that all the details were given each day for each offering even though the offerings were exactly the same. It reveals the pleasure of God in each sacrifice from His people. God is always observant of the gifts presented to Him to bring Him honor and glory and maintain His ministers.
Mount Sinai is often associated with the severity of the Law, but the Tabernacle that was built there illustrates the loving concern of God to communicate and fellowship with His people and to direct them through life. All the princes revealed their gratitude through their generous freewill gifts for all responded equally to the need. God records every act of service, every gift given to encourage us to give more in order to receive His best blessings.
Giving always benefits the giver,a gift can lift burdens, provide happiness, answer prayers, and save a soul from eternal hell. "But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:(As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever. Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God." (II Corinthians 9:6-11). All gifts are not monetary, it could be giving your time, giving things that you no longer need, cooking for someone, or even praying for someone.
Giving to God always results in further blessings, as Christians develop faith by giving to the Lord's work, both our desire to give and our ability to give are increased. Our desire to give is increased as we experience the joy of giving; and we increasingly prove the integrity of the Word of God.
Today's Psalm: 37:4
"Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart."
Today's Prayer
Dear God,
We pray that You will empower us to live responsible lives so that we can be living examples of what it means to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age. Help us to resist temptations that weaken our resolve to live holy lives by memorizing and quoting Scripture that speaks to that sinful behavior, even while we’re being tempted. We desire to bring joy to Your heart as we live responsibly and cast off that which hinders our spiritual growth. We want to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness so that we will be kingdom servants pursuing righteous living. In Jesus' name...........Amen.
Have a wonderful and blessed Lord's Day.

Bible Study: Abstaining From Evil
Hello My Friend/Guest,
Today is Saturday February 14, 2009 and we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers.
Today's Bible Reading: Numbers Chapters 5-6
Today's Message: Abstaining From Evil
All Christian's are to be separated from doing or even appearing to be doing something evil.
The Nazarite vow committed an individual to a life set apart to God for a specific period of time or even for life. "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When either man or woman shall separate themselves to vow a vow of a Nazarite, to separate themselves unto the LORD: He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried. All the days of his separation shall he eat nothing that is made of the vine tree, from the kernels even to the husk. All the days of the vow of his separation there shall no razor come upon his head: until the days be fulfilled, in the which he separateth himself unto the LORD, he shall be holy, and shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow. All the days that he separateth himself unto the LORD he shall come at no dead body. He shall not make himself unclean for his father, or for his mother, for his brother, or for his sister, when they die: because the consecration of his God is upon his head. All the days of his separation he is holy unto the LORD." (Numbers 6:1-8). The Nazarite's separation to God was expressed in several ways including abstinence from liquor and eating fresh grapes or raisins, which is representative of the best of physical satisfaction.
They also were not allowed to be defiled by the dead, which is representative of spiritual deadness. No matter how they separated themselves from things that made them unclean they were still responsible for offering all the usual sacrifices, such as the sin offering. "And if any man die very suddenly by him, and he hath defiled the head of his consecration; then he shall shave his head in the day of his cleansing, on the seventh day shall he shave it. And on the eighth day he shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons, to the priest, to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: And the priest shall offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, and make an atonement for him, for that he sinned by the dead, and shall hallow his head that same day. And he shall consecrate unto the LORD the days of his separation, and shall bring a lamb of the first year for a trespass offering: but the days that were before shall be lost, because his separation was defiled." (6:9-12). This points out that even in doing our very best to separate ourselves from the world we still fall far short of being free from all spiritual defilement.
Although the Nazarite vow no longer applies, our personal consecration and dedication is vital to our fulfilling the will of God. There was nothing sinful about eating grapes, for God created the fruit of the vine, but what this represents is mans abilbity to take the goodness of life and make them a priority over Christ. Those who have a desire to dedicate their lives to Christ will abstain from the pleasures that interfere with serving Him. "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ" (I Thessalonians 5:21-23).
God wants us to enjoy life, otherwise He would not have given us such wonderful pleasures, but He does not want us to devote our lives simply to them. He must come first and everything else will be added. "Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again." (Luke 6:36-38).
Many people who live in the world hold on the one fear that keeps them from accepting Christ. They know that once they do they will slowly lose interest in the things that they are doing. Once we accept Christ into our lives, God does not hold us down with chains, we are free to do whatever we wish. However, little by little we no longer long for the worldly things that once gave us pleasure, but long for a life filled with Christ. One that far exceeds any life that we got pleasure from before we knew Him. That is the ultimate life with Christ and one worth reaching for.
Jesus Christ is Revealed: Through the Nazerite
Nazarite is the transliteration of a Hebrew term meaning dedication by separation. Jesus separated Himself from all worldly influence to do the will of His Father.
Today's Psalm: 119:101
"I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word."
Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
Lord, you know the longings of my heart. When I seek thrills and quick fixes to satisfy these needs I am eventually disappointed. Your supply of Living Water never runs dry and satisfies the inner desires of my heart because You are the only One who can meet my spiritual needs. Lord, as I come today dry and thirsty I look to You, for You satisfy the thirsty and fill the hungry with good things.
Have a wonderful and blessed day/night and Happy Valentines Day.
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Ignoring God's Commands
Today is Friday February 13, 2009 and we are continuing our studies on the book of Numbers.
Today's Bible Reading: Numbers Chapters 3-4
You can read the chapters by clicking on the link above, if the link does not work you can copy and paste this link into your browser: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbe rs" title="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbe rs" target="_blank"http://www.biblegateway.com/p...%203-4&version=9
Today's Message: Ignoring God's Commands
God commands all Christian's to serve Him in some way, ignoring Him not only takes away blessings that we can be enjoying it also destroys our relationship with Him.
God appointed certain positions for His people, "These also are the generations of Aaron and Moses in the day that the LORD spake with Moses in mount Sinai. And these are the names of the sons of Aaron; Nadab the firstborn, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the priests which were anointed, whom he consecrated to minister in the priest's office. And Nadab and Abihu died before the LORD, when they offered strange fire before the LORD, in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children: and Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest's office in the sight of Aaron their father." (Numbers 3:1-4). Nadab and Abihu, Aaron's two oldest sons, had been greatly honored by being included with Moses and Aaron and 70 elders on Mount Sinai to hear the voice of God. Unfortunately, they presumed to burn incense (symbolic of the prayers of the people) with unauthorized fire not kindled by God on the Brazen Altar, resulting in dire consequences. (See Leviticus:23-24 ).
Their unauthorized fire underlined the seriousness of departing from the Commandments of God. They had been given national recognition and God-ordained spiritual leadership. However, this did not protect them from the consequences of their disobedience. It points out that no one becomes so important or popular as a spiritual leader that God will overlook disobedience to His Word. To be a minister, or even to become a member of a church with no intent to submit one's life to please Christ is hypocrisy.
It was vitally important that all the workers remain faithful and loyal if the priests were to perform their sacred responsibilities. "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Take also the sum of the sons of Gershon, throughout the houses of their fathers, by their families; From thirty years old and upward until fifty years old shalt thou number them; all that enter in to perform the service, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation. This is the service of the families of the Gershonites, to serve, and for burdens: And they shall bear the curtains of the tabernacle, and the tabernacle of the congregation, his covering, and the covering of the badgers' skins that is above upon it, and the hanging for the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, And the hangings of the court, and the hanging for the door of the gate of the court, which is by the tabernacle and by the altar round about, and their cords, and all the instruments of their service, and all that is made for them: so shall they serve. At the appointment of Aaron and his sons shall be all the service of the sons of the Gershonites, in all their burdens, and in all their service: and ye shall appoint unto them in charge all their burdens. This is the service of the families of the sons of Gershon in the tabernacle of the congregation: and their charge shall be under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest." (Numbers 4:21-28). To perform the service literally means to war the warfare. This phrase occurs again and again in referring to the ordinary hard work of disassembling the Tabernacle and carrying the curtains, poles, furniture, and everything pertaining to the worship of God throughout the difficult wilderness journey.
Every Christian is called upon to perform the service to faithfully help make it possible for others to know about God through Jesus Christ and His Word. No one else in the world can set souls free from sin and give them eternal life. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16). In fact it is a command that all Christian's tell the lost about Jesus. However, we face constant warfare as Satan continually seeks to hinder anyone he can from accomplishing anything worthwhile for the Lord. Whether it be soul winning, praying or providing financial support, he will stop at nothing to get one to fall away from serving Him (God). Just as the priests were dependent upon the faithfulness of the workers, the ministry of the Word of God throughout the world is dependent upon the faithfulness of the people of God.
The decision to ignore any command of God is sin. We are not to use any circumstances to justify an exception to His Word. Neither is there a choice of what part of His Word we can neglect or reject, for all is God inspired. "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?" (Hebrews 10:26-29). All New Testament doctrine is based on Old Testament principles. The Word of God is the source for meeting the needs of the human heart; it is the final and only source of absolute truth. "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." (II Timothy 3:16-17).
Jesus Christ is Revealed: By Aaron, the high priest, who was served by the Levites
"Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister unto him." (Numbers 3:6). Jesus is our High Priest, "Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession." (Hebrews 4:14).
Today's Psalm: 101:6
"Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me."
Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
Lord Jesus, help me to remain faithful to You and your calling upon my life. Strengthen and grow my faith as I daily search Your Scriptures and apply their truths to my spiritual walk. As I go through the trials and experiences of my earthly journey would You fix my eyes and my ever-wandering heart upon Jesus. When the howling winds and forceful storms of this life attempt to shipwreck my faith may they instead prove my faith to be more than sufficient to withstand the continual assaults from the enemy. Because I take refuge in Jesus my spiritual foundation is firm, always dependable, and leads me to glorious victory. In Jesus' name...........Amen.
Have a wonderful and blessed day/night and enjoy your weekend.

Christina

Bible Study: God Knows Best
Hello My Friend/Guest,
Today is Wednesday February 11, 2009 and we are completing our studies on the book of Leviticus.
Today's Bible Reading: Leviticus Chapters 26-27
You can read the chapters by clicking on the link above, if the link does not work you can copy and paste this link into your browser: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Levit icus" title="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Levit icus" target="_blank"http://www.biblegateway.com/p...%2026-27&version=9
Today's Message: God Knows Best
We may often wonder why God does not allow certain things in our lives, but He truly does know what is best for us. We could save ourselves a lot of grief simply by obeying Him.
Any person that does not know God who tries to read the Bible will immediately question why He enforced such harsh punishment upon His people. However, they fail to realize that God created these laws to give direction and meaning to their lives so they can enjoy the best life possible. God warned the Israelites, "Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the LORD your God. Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD............I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright. But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these commandments; And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant: I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you." (Leviticus 26:1-2,13-17). The Israelites were reminded that God had brought them out of cruel Egyptian slavery and that they were His people freed from slavery to enjoy His blessings of freedom. Therefore, it was only right for Him to expect them to be obedient.
Obedience does not mean that one is weighed down in chains, forced to act or be a certain way, it means to have respect for God, yourself, and for others. God also respects those who obey, "For I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you. And ye shall eat old store, and bring forth the old because of the new. And I set my tabernacle among you: and my soul shall not abhor you. And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people." (Leviticus 26:9-12). Everything that God commands us to do is always best for our long-term good. Obedience to the Word of God is the key to obtaining His richest blessings and true satisfaction in life. The Bible is the only reliable source of information that informs us how to gain the most out of life. It is of utmost importance that we read the Bible every day because the Holy Spirit uses the instruction of the Word to strengthen us in a life of obedience. Of course the only way to receive the Holy Spirit is by confessing to Jesus that you are a sinner and accepting Him as your Savior.
Although the Book of Leviticus was written to Israelites, its basic truths are just as relevant for us today. Numerous blessings were recorded as benefits of obedience to the Word of God. Also recorded were clear warnings regarding sin and disobedience to His Word, which later were fulfilled. However, the marvelous compassion and love of God is seen in His desire to forgive and restore the sinner to Himself. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (I John 1:19).
If you have ever done something in your life (before you knew Christ) knowing that it really was not in your best interest and suffered severly for it then you can understand why we are to have obedience in our lives. God wants you to enjoy the best life that you can possibly have here on earth, but He also expects you to follow the rules. One can only go so far in life without following the rules before they will see the consequences of it. I for one am a witness to that and can assure you that living in sin comes with a heafty price, the short term enjoyment does not make up for the long term suffering. I thank God every day for His forgiveness and am blessed so much more than I ever imagined. God loves you, love Him back.
Jesus Christ is Revealed: As the Tabernacle sent to dwell among man
"And I set my tabernacle among you: and my soul shall not abhor you." (Leviticus 26:11). Christ dwells among us. "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." (John 1:14)
Today's Psalm: 119:116-117
"Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope. Hold thou me up, and I shall be safe: and I will have respect unto thy statutes continually."
Today's Prayer:
We earnestly seek You for wisdom regarding the daily circumstances of our lives. Help us to incline our hearts toward You for understanding all that You have to teach us in the lessons of life. During the quiet sessions when Your voice seems silent help us to trust You knowing that You work all things out for our good, for Your glory, and in Your time reference. In Jesus' name.............Amen.
Have a wonderful and blessed day/night and enjoy the rest of your week. Is it flying or what?
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: The Light
Today is Tuesday February 10, 2009 and we are continuing our studies on the book of Leviticus.
Today's Message: The Light
The more we live for God the more His light shines on us revealing to others His truths.
Today's Bible Reading: Leviticus Chapters 23-24
You can read the chapters by clicking on the link above, if the link does not work you can copy and paste this link into your browser: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Levit icus" title="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Levit icus" target="_blank"http://www.biblegateway.com/p...%2024-25&version=9
This time God not only spoke to the Israelites, He also gave them commands, Aaron was charged with the responsibility of keeping the light continually burning in the Golden Candlesticks."And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Command the children of Israel, that they bring unto thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamps to burn continually.Without the vail of the testimony, in the tabernacle of the congregation, shall Aaron order it from the evening unto the morning before the LORD continually: it shall be a statute for ever in your generations. He shall order the lamps upon the pure candlestick before the LORD continually." (Leviticus 24:1-4). This light was derived from God, for the lamps were lit from the sacred fire from upon the altar. During their wilderness journey, the Israelites were guided by the pillar of fire. The Candlestick's lamps, which were never to go out, which symbolized Jesus, the Light of the World, whose presence is always with His followers. "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." (John 8:12).
The Candlestick was made with precious gold and exquisite workmanship, but it was not intended to draw attention to itself. Its purpose was to contain the oil and show forth the Light. Light is a revealer of truth, and the light of the Candlestick shone upon the sacred Showbread also symbolized Christ. "For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst." (John 6:33-35).
Following was specific instructions for making the Showbread, "And thou shalt take fine flour, and bake twelve cakes thereof: two tenth deals shall be in one cake. And thou shalt set them in two rows, six on a row, upon the pure table before the LORD.And thou shalt put pure frankincense upon each row, that it may be on the bread for a memorial, even an offering made by fire unto the LORD.Every sabbath he shall set it in order before the LORD continually, being taken from the children of Israel by an everlasting covenant. And it shall be Aaron's and his sons'; and they shall eat it in the holy place: for it is most holy unto him of the offerings of the LORD made by fire by a perpetual statute." (Leviticus 24:5-9).
The term Showbread literally means, bread of the faces, they were placed before the presence of God, signifying that He and His Word alone sustained their very lives. By eating the bread, the priests confirmed Israel's dependence upon Him. The 12 loaves contained no leaven since they primarily were made of fine flour (coarse flour could not be used) for these loaves represented Christ, the perfect one, who sustained the 12 tribes. "For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself." (Hebrews 7:26-27). The aromatic frankincense that was required to be placed on the loaves is symbolic of praise to God as well as a reminder that Christ, as the Bread of Life, provides true satisfaction. The loaves also picture Christ, who endured the fierce oven of affliction and crucifixion to come forth as the Bread of Life. The 12 identical loaves were a reminder that the Lord was the satisfier and sustainer of all 12 tribes.
As we read the Word of God, the Holy Spirit, who indwells believers, provides light on the moral and spiritual values of life. This light enables Christians to fulfill one of their essential missions to the world. Jesus said, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 5:16). The closer weget to God the more we want to do for Him, that in turn shines a light so bright that others will see Him through us. It is a wonderful feeling to have a total stranger say to you, "I see Jesus in you". That should be the ultimate compliment for all Christians.
Today's Psalm: 119:103
"How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!"
Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
As we fully surrender our hearts to You we will no longer conform to the pattern of this world, but we will be transformed because our minds are being renewed by Your Spirit daily.Though we may be rejected by the world we have been chosen by You. Like living stones You are building us into a spiritual house where Jesus is the precious cornerstone.Because of that we are a strong foundation that can withstand the temptations and forces of evil as we declare the praises of Him who called us out of darkness and into the light. In Jesus' name...........Amen.
Have a wonderful and blessed day/night and enjoy the rest of your week.
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Feasts of Worship
Today is Monday February 9, 2009 and we are continuing our studies on the book of Leviticus.
Today's Message: Feasts of Worship
The Feasts of Worship are symbolic of Christ's entire work of salvation, they are a reminder of how blessed we are to know Jesus Christ.
Today's Bible Reading: Leviticus Chapters 22-23
You can read the chapters by clicking on the link above, if the link does not work you can copy and paste this link into your browser: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Levit icus" title="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Levit icus" target="_blank"http://www.biblegateway.com/p...%2022-23&version=9
God gave specific instructions to the children of Israel concerning the Feasts of worship."And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings. These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons. In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD's passover. And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread. In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein. But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD seven days: in the seventh day is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein." (Leviticus 23:1-8). Passover was the first Feast and it symbolizes redemption from sin by Christ, the Lamb of God who died for our sins.
The Feast of Unleavened Bread began the day after the Passover and symbolizes the sinless Christ,as the Bread of Life. "Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst." (John 6:32-35). Israel's abstinence from leaven for seven days was a reminder that they were a holy people separated to their Lord God. It also symbolizes the believer's holy walk, putting away leaven, a figure of sin. After we receive Christ as our Savior, we partake of His life through His Word which cleanses us from sin, making us holy.
The Feast of First fruits was the Sunday after Passover, "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest:And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it. And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf an he lamb without blemish of the first year for a burnt offering unto the LORD.And the meat offering thereof shall be two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering made by fire unto the LORD for a sweet savour: and the drink offering thereof shall be of wine, the fourth part of an hin.And ye shall eat neither bread, nor parched corn, nor green ears, until the selfsame day that ye have brought an offering unto your God: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings." (Leviticus 23:9-14). At the Feast of First Fruits, one sheaf (handful of grain) from the first harvest was waved before God as an act of faith that He would give a great harvest.
The Feast of First fruits is symbolic of resurrection, for Christ arose on that Feast Day. The resurrection of Christ is our confidence of the great harvest day when all the dead in Christ shall be resurrected. "For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." (I Thessalonians 4:14-17).
The Feast of Weeks was fifty days after the Feast of First fruits, "Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals; they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the LORD.And ye shall offer with the bread seven lambs without blemish of the first year, and one young bullock, and two rams: they shall be for a burnt offering unto the LORD, with their meat offering, and their drink offerings, even an offering made by fire, of sweet savour unto the LORD.Then ye shall sacrifice one kid of the goats for a sin offering, and two lambs of the first year for a sacrifice of peace offerings. And the priest shall wave them with the bread of the firstfruits for a wave offering before the LORD, with the two lambs: they shall be holy to the LORD for the priest." (Leviticus 23:16-20). This time they offered new meat (bread) with leaven. God required the two wave loaves because they were symbolic of both Jewish and Gentile believers who would later make up the Church. "Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth." (I Corinthians 5:7-8).
Today, we no longer need a special day to celebrate what Jesus has done in our lives, the Feasts of worship are a joyful reminder of how blessed we truly are. The next time you see one of these Religious days marked on the calendar take some time to thank Jesus for being the one who redeemed you and cleanses you daily from your sins simply by asking Him to forgive you.
Today's Psalm: 10:2-4
"Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;"
Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
Your Word I have hidden in my heart that I might not sin against You; for it teaches me to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly before You.Even when it brings about hurtful circumstances help me to do the right thing in keeping with the Christ-filled nature I received upon the day of my salvation.May I not be found lacking in integrity but rather be characterized by my integrity as it honors my Father in heaven. In Jesus' name...........Amen.
Have a wonderful and blessed day/night and enjoy your week.
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Special People
Today is Sunday, February 8, 2009 and we are continuing our studies on the book of Leviticus.
Today's Message: Special People
All Christian's are Special People and are representatives of Christ. Therefore, it is of great importance that we live our lives the way that God has instructed us to do so.
Today's Bible Reading: Leviticus Chapters 19-21
You can read the chapters by clicking on the link above, if the link does not work you can copy and paste this link into your browser: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Levit icus" title="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Levit icus" target="_blank"http://www.biblegateway.com/p...%2019-21&version=9
Of all the nations in the world, God chose Israel to be a special people unto Him, but He expected them to observe His statutes. "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy. Ye shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and keep my sabbaths: I am the LORD your God. Turn ye not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I am the LORD your God. And if ye offer a sacrifice of peace offerings unto the LORD, ye shall offer it at your own will............And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him. But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God. Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in meteyard, in weight, or in measure. Just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin, shall ye have: I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt. Therefore shall ye observe all my statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: I am the LORD." (Leviticus 19:1-5,33-37).
The priests were to represent the Lord God at all times, "And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none be defiled for the dead among his people:......................But he shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself. They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh. They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy. " (21:1,4-6). As Christians we must set the example and abstain from any conduct that may influence others to be less than their best for Christ. "And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen." (Revelation 1:5-6).
Even their own personal lives and family had to be right with God, "And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire. And he that is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil was poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not uncover his head, nor rend his clothes; Neither shall he go in to any dead body, nor defile himself for his father, or for his mother; Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the LORD. And he shall take a wife in her virginity. A widow, or a divorced woman, or profane, or an harlot, these shall he not take: but he shall take a virgin of his own people to wife. Neither shall he profane his seed among his people: for I the LORD do sanctify him." (Leviticus 21:9-15). As a representative of God, any priest who disregarded the qualifications for service was cut off from His presence. The priest was the spiritual role model who had the power to influence the entire congregation to sin.
Today, all nations are included as being a part of God's special people and just as the Israelites were expected to live the way God instructed we are too. "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light; Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation. Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God." (I Peter 2:9-16). Yes, we are saved by the blood of Jesus and all who repent are forgiven no matter how many times we sin, however, we still need to live for the Will of God. How different our lives would be if we really loved doing the will of God, more than doing our own.
The Old Covenant was meant to teach the Israelites the necessity of obedience, but it also revealed that all these rules and Commandments were given to them by a loving God who desired that they gain the best out of life. The New Covenant does not provide any substitute for obedience, but it does empower the Christian to live their lives in obedience to Jesus Christ. "Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." (I Corinthians 10:6-13).
Jesus Christ is Revealed: As the source of true guidance, in contrast to evil guidance through spiritualist mediums
"And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people. Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God. And ye shall keep my statutes, and do them: I am the LORD which sanctify you." (Leviticus 20:6-8). Jesus, whois the Truth also sent us the Spirit of Truth who guides us into all truth.
Today's Psalm: 29:11
"The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace."
Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
We recognize that our endurance and persistence are attitudes derived from a faith filled life with You. Our endurance is realized by continuing this race though others may drop out making us feel like we run alone. Our persistence is marked by our determination to finish the race though struggles weigh us down and doubts cloud our vision. Thank You for maping the race out for us by showing us the great examples of those who cheer us on as we participate in this Christian race. They finished their race on earth through their enduring faith, though they experienced opposition from sinful men. We endure hardships and struggles as discipline from You, our loving Father, that we may share in Your holiness. We look forward to the harvest of righteousness and peace that comes as a result of our persistence in this spiritual marathon. Strengthen our feeble arms and weak knees as we repent of the sin that entangles us. We lay aside everything that drags us down or tempts us to give up and we put our trust and faith in You to reach the finish line. In Jesus' name..........Amen.
Have a wonderful day/night and have a blessed week.
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Our Scapegoat
Hello My Friend/Guest,
Today is Saturday February 7, 2009 and we are continuing our studies on the book of Leviticus.
Today's Message:Our Scapegoat
Jesus became the scapegoat (a person taking the blame)whom atoned for all of our sins.
Today's Bible Reading: Leviticus Chapters 16-18
You can read the chapters by clicking on the link above, if the link does not work you can copy and paste this link into your browser: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Levit icus" title="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Levit icus" target="_blank"http://www.biblegateway.com/p...%2016-18&version=9
On the annual Day of Atonement, the high priest, beginning with Aaron, was first required to present a young bull as a sacrifice for his own sins before he could proceed with the sin offering for the people. "And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat. Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering. He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with a linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired: these are holy garments; therefore shall he wash his flesh in water, and so put them on.And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two kids of the goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering. And Aaron shall offer his bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make an atonement for himself, and for his house. And he shall take the two goats, and present them before the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for the scapegoat. And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the LORD's lot fell, and offer him for a sin offering. But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness." (Leviticus 16:2-10).
The two goats were necessary to express our Lord's twofold atonement. One goat was sacrificed upon the altar for a sin offering. Then the high priest laid his hands upon the head of the remaining goat, the scapegoat, and confessed the sins of the congregation, thereby transferring their sins to the scapegoat which was then let go into the wilderness where it disappeared from sight, never to be seen again. This was not justification, but merely a covering of another year's sins. "And the priest, whom he shall anoint, and whom he shall consecrate to minister in the priest's office in his father's stead, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen clothes, even the holy garments:And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make an atonement for the tabernacle of the congregation, and for the altar, and he shall make an atonement for the priests, and for all the people of the congregation. And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the LORD commanded Moses." (16:32-34).
This is symbolic of Jesus Christ, who not only became the ultimate sin offering, He also became our scapegoat. A scapegoat is a person who takes the blame for others faults and receives the consequences for them. When we call on Jesus to forgive us, all of our sins are transferred onto Him for an atonement. Then they are carried away into the wilderness, never to be seen again. This time we receive justification and not only are we free, we are also made new and righteous before God. "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." (II Corinthians 5:17-21).
Today's Psalm: 4:4-5
"Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD."
Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
I glory in the Cross of Calvary from which Your Son, my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, died for my sins.I boast only in Him who lifted the heavy chains from my enslaved soul freeing me to soar in newness of life.Thank You, God, for demonstrating Your love toward me in that You gave Your one and only Son to die for me. At just the right time while I was still powerless, Jesus died for me, while I was unlovely and unable to save myself.Because of this incredible act of love and forgiveness I have reconciliation with my Father in heaven. In Jesus' name...............Amen.
Have a wonderful day/night and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Sin Disease
Hello My Friend/Guest,
Today is Friday February 6, 2009 and we are continuing our studies on the book of Leviticus.
Today's Message:Sin Disease
Sin can literallytake over a persons life like a disease. However, God gave us instructions on how to overcome sin.
Today's Bible Reading: Leviticus Chapters 14-15
You can read the chapters by clicking on the link above, if the linkdoes not workyou can copy and paste this link into your browser: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Levit icus%2014-15&version= 9
When the priest discovered that an Israelite was a leper, the priest had to pronouce him unclean and take him to a place away from everyone else. In his extreme grief and deep humiliation, this poor, wretched person had to pass through the campone last time, crying: Unclean! Unclean! "And if there be in the bald head, or bald forehead, a white reddish sore; it is a leprosy sprung up in his bald head, or his bald forehead. Then the priest shall look upon it: and, behold, if the rising of the sore be white reddish in his bald head, or in his bald forehead, as the leprosy appeareth in the skin of the flesh; He is a leprous man, he is unclean: the priest shall pronounce him utterly unclean; his plague is in his head. And the leper in whom the plague is, his clothes shall be rent, and his head bare, and he shall put a covering upon his upper lip, and shall cry, Unclean, unclean. All the days wherein the plague shall be in him he shall be defiled; he is unclean: he shall dwell alone; without the camp shall his habitation be." (Leviticus 13:42-46).
When leprosy first appears, it seems harmless, just a small white or pink spot on the skin and, in its earliest stages, it is totally painless. The spot might remain for months or even years before it begins to develop further. Eventually, leprosy causes an extremely repulsive disfigurement of the entire body, including spongy tumor-like swellings on the face and head. Leprosy illustrates how insignificant a sin may first appear, but how dreadful, loathsome, and fatal it can become. Sin immediately separates us from God, for it makes us unclean. People controlled by sin exist in a state of living death, unless they turn to Christ, truly repent, and forsake their sins.
The Hebrew nation was chosen for spiritual leadership among the nations of the world and to let them know there is only One True God. Various laws of God forbade them from close association with idol-worshipping heathens. They also tested their devotion, faith, self-denial, and obedience to God. Furthermore, the regulations taught Israel that all laws on how they were to live were given for their best interest. "Thus shall ye separate the children of Israel from their uncleanness; that they die not in their uncleanness, when they defile my tabernacle that is among them. This is the law of him that hath an issue, and of him whose seed goeth from him, and is defiled therewith; And of her that is sick of her flowers, and of him that hath an issue, of the man, and of the woman, and of him that lieth with her that is unclean." (15:31-33).
The laws concerning what was clean and unclean were symbolic of both moral and spiritual truths. God provided only one infallible Guide for how to live. All mankind is born with a fallen sinful nature inherited from Adam and Eve. Consequently, only one inspired revelation is needed for all generations, that inspiration is the Bible.
Today's Psalm: 23:6
'Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever."
Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
As we fully surrender our hearts to You we will no longer conform to the pattern of this world, but we will be transformed because our minds are being renewed by Your Spirit daily.Though we may be rejected by the world we have been chosen by You.Like living stones You are building us into a spiritual house where Jesus is the precious cornerstone. Because of that we are a strong foundation that can withstand the temptations and forces of evil as we declare the praises of Him who called us out of darkness. In doing so You enable us to live as aliens and strangers in this evil world so that we abstain from sinful desires. In Jesus name.........Amen.
Have a wonderful day/night and enjoy your weekend.
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Your Influence
Today is Thursday February 5, 2009 and we are continuing our studies on the book of Leviticus.
Today's Message: Your Influence
The things that we do in life have a big impact on those around us, as a Christian that becomes even more apparent. Therefore, it is of great importance that we let our influence be positively and morally equip.
Today's Bible Reading: Leviticus Chapters 11-13
You can read the chapters by clicking on the link above, if the link does not work you can copyand paste this link into your browser: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Levit icus" title="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Levit icus" target="_blank"http://www.biblegateway.com/p...%2011-13&version=9
God gave specific commandments concerning which animals could be eaten and which ones could not. "And the LORD spake unto Moses and to Aaron, saying unto them,Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth.Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat." (Leviticus 11:1-3).Only the food that was considered clean according to the command of God was to be eaten. "For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. For I am the LORD that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy. This is the law of the beasts, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the earth:To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten." (11:44-47). Over 40 times in the book of Leviticus we read, I am the LORD or I am the LORD your God, inwardly, outwardly, morally, and spiritually, we also must separate ourselves from all that defiles our bodies.
The laws were intended to teach Israel that all authority rested in God for the best health possible. The animals that were acceptable for food were those that chewed their cud and had a divided hoof. These two features represent two characteristics of the Christian life.
1. The people of God must be separated from all worldliness.
2. In order for a Christian to remain clean, heneeds tocontinouslymeditate upon the Word of God so he remains holy.
The word unclean is used about 100 times in chapters 11 through 15, implying that God required every unclean thing to be removed from their lives. God also required that the Israelites separate themselves from heathens, idolatry, immorality, and even unsanitary habits. The people of God were not to even allowed to intermarry with Gentile unbelievers. The many sacrifices, rules, and regulations concerning what is clean and unclean provide awareness of how repulsive sin is to God. God's character does not change; therefore these regulations remind every Christianthat we need to truly be careful of what we do to our bodies, the foods we eat or what we drink can seriously defile us. "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." (I Corithians 10:31).
All who accept Jesus and make the choice to follow Him willbegin to cleanse all the bad habits from their lives, in fact, eventhings that we use to eat and drink are no longer apart of our lives because we learn that it is not good for us. It's all the Power of God working through us and creating us to be the children He intended for us to be. And if you think people are not watching, guess again, they are watching and very closely. You are a big influence on those around you and the closer you get with God the more He shines through you. As that happens you are doing several things.
1. Becoming Christ like.
2. Becoming healthier and enjoying life more.
3. Showing others how important it is to know Christ.
4. Becoming a witness to bring others to Him.
You are setting an example for the world to follow and even the most recognized non-believer'sare watching, one of the most positive ways we can influence themto knowChrist is to live a clean and holy life the gives God the glory for every bit of it.
Jesus Christ is Revealed: Through the clean food of the believer.
Jesus is the Bread of Life and the Living Water that we need in order to have a healthy soul. "And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst." (John 6:35).
Today's Psalm: 107:8-9
"Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness."
Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
Your Word indicates the way we interact with those outside the faith will have a positive or a negative influence on whether they choose to follow You.There appears to be no neutral mode in our lives, for we do not live unto ourselves, but regularly give account for our actions and attitudes daily. May we, asYour Children, be faithful in our walk and consistent in our talk as we serve You at home, in the workplace, in our churches, and in our sphere of influence. We do not want to disgrace the holy name of Jesus, but we want to honor His name as we glorify You in all we do.In Jesus' name.............Amen.
Have a wonderful day/night and enjoy the rest of your week, hang in there, it's almost the weekend.

Bible Study: No Substitute
Hello My Friend/Guest,
Today is Wednesday February 4, 2009 and we are continuing our studies on the book of Leviticus.
Today's Message: No Substitute
There is nosubstitute to Salvation or having a right relationship with God. Jesus Christ is the only one who can save us from our sins and allow us to know God personally.
Today's Bible Reading: Leviticus Chapters 9-10
You can read the chapters by clicking on the link above, if the link does not work you can copy and paste this link into your browser: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Levit icus" title="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Levit icus" target="_blank"http://www.biblegateway.com/p...%209-10&version=9
As we learned, the sin offeringand the trespass offering were mandatory and were the first two offerings to be presented to God. They were required in order to restore the broken relationship between God and sinful man."And he said unto Aaron, Take thee a young calf for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering, without blemish, and offer them before the LORD.And unto the children of Israel thou shalt speak, saying, Take ye a kid of the goats for a sin offering; and a calf and a lamb, both of the first year, without blemish, for a burnt offering; Also a bullock and a ram for peace offerings, to sacrifice before the LORD; and a meat offering mingled with oil: for to day the LORD will appear unto you................ And Moses said unto Aaron, Go unto the altar, and offer thy sin offering, and thy burnt offering, and make an atonement for thyself, and for the people: and offer the offering of the people, and make an atonement for them; as the LORD commanded.Aaron therefore went unto the altar, and slew the calf of the sin offering, which was for himself. And the sons of Aaron brought the blood unto him: and he dipped his finger in the blood, and put it upon the horns of the altar, and poured out the blood at the bottom of the altar:But the fat, and the kidneys, and the caul above the liver of the sin offering, he burnt upon the altar; as the LORD commanded Moses." (Leviticus 9:2-4,7-10). Each sin offering also served as a reminder that an innocent animal died in the sinner's place.
Disobedience to the will of God is sin and must be repented of and atoned for, ignorance of the Law of God is not an excuse for sinning and must be addressed in the same manner. "For there is no respect of persons with God.For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;(For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel." (Romans 2:11-16). No animal could be an absolute substitute for a sinner; it could only provide a temporary covering for sin. However, Christ alone is our sin offering and tresspass offering whom atones for all our sins.
The peace offerings werepresented as a giftto God, it expresseda peaceful, harmonious relationship with God, as well as with others. The peace offering could be brought for answers to prayer, in connection with a vow, or as a voluntary act of thanksgiving and also implies happiness, contentment, and rest. The shoulder, thigh, and breast were given to the priest who had offered the sacrifice. They were symbols of strength and compassion, a reminder that strength is given to those who serve the Lord. The sacrifice was to be a bullock, goat, or lamb, but it had to be unblemished, which represented the perfect Life of Christ. The bullock represented the Lord as the strong and patient One, the lamb represented Him as the meek and gentle One, and the goat represented Him as the despised and rejected One.
The peace offering was a joyful feast shared by the priests and the people in the presence of God who first of all received the fat upon the altar. "He slew also the bullock and the ram for a sacrifice of peace offerings, which was for the people: and Aaron's sons presented unto him the blood, which he sprinkled upon the altar round about,And the fat of the bullock and of the ram, the rump, and that which covereth the inwards, and the kidneys, and the caul above the liver:And they put the fat upon the breasts, and he burnt the fat upon the altar:And the breasts and the right shoulder Aaron waved for a wave offering before the LORD; as Moses commanded. And Aaron lifted up his hand toward the people, and blessed them, and came down from offering of the sin offering, and the burnt offering, and peace offerings. And Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle of the congregation, and came out, and blessed the people: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the people. And there came a fire out from before the LORD, and consumed upon the altar the burnt offering and the fat: which when all the people saw, they shouted, and fell on their faces." (Leviticus 9:18-24). After the Lord received the fat and the priests received their portion, all that was left was eaten by the offerer, his friends, and family in the court of the Tabernacle. They rejoiced in the wonderful things that the Lord had provided. Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." (John 14:27).
Today, we are blessed to be forgiven and enjoy peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. All we have to do is call onJesus and ask Him to forgive us, it's that simple. His blood was the ultimate sacrifice that allows us to no longer have to worry whether or not we are good enough to go to heaven yet alone have a right relationship with God.
Today's Psalm: 34:13-15
"Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry."
Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
Your Word I have hidden in my heart that I might not sin against You; for it teaches me to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly before You.Even when it brings about hurtful circumstances help me to do the right thing in keeping with the Christ-filled nature I received upon the day of my salvation. May I not be found lacking in integrity, but rather be characterized by my integrity as it honors my Father in heaven. In Jesus' name..................Amen.
Have a wonderful and blessed day/night and enjoy the rest of your week.
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Cleanse Yourself
Today is Tuesday February 3, 2009 and we are continuing our studies on the book of Leviticus.
Today's Message:Cleanse Yourself
All who accept Jesus into their lives become cleansed by His blood, but it is important that we cleanse ourselves daily so are not defiling our minds and bodies.
Today's Bible Reading: Leviticus Chapters 7-8
You can read the chapters by clicking on the link above, if the link does not work you can copy and paste this link into your browser: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Levit icus" title="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Levit icus" target="_blank"http://www.biblegateway.com/p...%207-8&version=9
In all the offerings, the Lord's portion was presented first. The peace offering was different from all the rest, it was the only offering shared by three parties, God, the priests, and all that was left was to be eaten by the offerer and his family. The fat was always God's portion and was never to be eaten."Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, Ye shall eat no manner of fat, of ox, or of sheep, or of goat. And the fat of the beast that dieth of itself, and the fat of that which is torn with beasts, may be used in any other use: but ye shall in no wise eat of it.For whosoever eateth the fat of the beast, of which men offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, even the soul that eateth it shall be cut off from his people. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, He that offereth the sacrifice of his peace offerings unto the LORD shall bring his oblation unto the LORD of the sacrifice of his peace offerings. His own hands shall bring the offerings of the LORD made by fire, the fat with the breast, it shall he bring, that the breast may be waved for a wave offering before the LORD.And the priest shall burn the fat upon the altar: but the breast shall be Aaron's and his sons'.And the right shoulder shall ye give unto the priest for an heave offering of the sacrifices of your peace offerings." (Leviticus 7:23-25,28-32). The peace offering could be brought for answered prayer, in connection with a vow, or as an act of thanksgiving. Today, just as then, we are never to give the Lord whatever is left over after every other desire is met. "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God." (Romans 5:1-2).
When the priesthood was inaugurated, two rams were brought, one was offered for a Burnt Offering, and the other was called the ram of consecration (sanctification). The ear, the right hand, and the right foot of Aaron and his sons weresanctified (cleansed) by the blood. "And he brought the ram for the burnt offering: and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the ram.And he killed it; and Moses sprinkled the blood upon the altar round about. And he cut the ram into pieces; and Moses burnt the head, and the pieces, and the fat.And he washed the inwards and the legs in water; and Moses burnt the whole ram upon the altar: it was a burnt sacrifice for a sweet savour, and an offering made by fire unto the LORD; as the LORD commanded Moses. And he brought the other ram, the ram of consecration: and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the ram.And he slew it; and Moses took of the blood of it, and put it upon the tip of Aaron's right ear, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot." (Leviticus 8:18-23). The ear was cleansed in order to hear the Word of God, they were to listen to no conversation that would make them unclean nor distract them from hearing His voice. The thumb of the right hand was cleansed in order to be qualified to handle things for God, the right hand is used to express power. The right foot was cleansed in order to remind the priests that they had to be responsible for what they did in their daily activities.
As members of Body of Christ, weare tosanctifyour ears, hands, and feet to the Lord's service to be used as He chooses. It is by Christ's blood that theour ears are prepared to hear His voice with a desire to listen to His Word. We must also hold on to the things of the world in a manner that honors the Lord. And we must be careful what we do with our bodies so that we are not defiling them in any way. "Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." (Matthew 6:30-34).
Today's Psalm: 19:12-13
"Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression."
Today's Prayer:
Dear God,
I lay my sins on Jesus, the spotless Lamb of God. Thank You for bearing them all and freeing me from the accuser’s condemnation. I confess my sins to You, both big and small, so that cleansed in the blood of the sinless Lamb of God. Thank You for being the Sinbearer that redeems me from the slimy pit of mud and mire. You are the Solid Rock on which I firmly stand. You are faithful and just and forgive me of my sins and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. You put a new song in my mouth and a hymn of praise and thanksgiving for Your wondrous love and forgiveness. In Jesus' name...........Amen.
Have a wonderful and blessed day/night and enjoy the rest of your week.
God Bless,
Christina

Bible Study: Giving Freely
Hello My Friend/Guest,
Today is Sunday February 1, 2009 and we are beginning our studies on the book of Leviticus.
Today's Message: Giving Freely
God loves a cheerful giver, especially one who gives voluntarily. When we give freely we are pleasing God by showing Him that we are not thinking solely of ourselves nor looking to get something in return.

The book of Leviticus is the third book of the Old Testament and contains 27 chapters. The author of the book is Moses and it was written to the people of Israel. This book was a manual of worship for Israel. It provides instruction to the religious leaders and explains how sinful people can approach righteous God. It relates to the coming of Jesus Christ as the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. The purpose of the book was to show Israel how to live as a holy nation in fellowship with God and prepare them to extend the redemptive plan of God to all nations. What we are to learn from the book is how to live holy as God requires holiness of All His people.
Leviticus reveals how Israel was to live as a holy nation in order to be in fellowship with God, it begins by explaining the sacrifices that were pleasing to God. The first three offerings mentioned were called sweet savor offerings, which means they were voluntary and pleasing to God. The first offering mentioned is called the burned sacrifice. The offering was to be a bull, lamb, or goat, turtledoves or pigeons, each according to the financial ability of the offerer. "And the LORD called unto Moses, and spake unto him out of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man of you bring an offering unto the LORD, ye shall bring your offering of the cattle, even of the herd, and of the flock. If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish: he shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD.................And if his offering be of the flocks, namely, of the sheep, or of the goats, for a burnt sacrifice; he shall bring it a male without blemish..................And if the burnt sacrifice for his offering to the LORD be of fowls, then he shall bring his offering of turtledoves, or of young pigeons." (Leviticus 1:1-3,10,14).
When the offerer voluntarily gave a sacrifice he was in full submission to God and without a selfish motive. If the offerer owned a herd, then he offered a bull. If, however, the offerer possessed only flocks, then his offering would be a lamb or a goat; for either of these men to offer pigeons would have been offensive to God. But, if the offerer were so poor that he did not own a herd or a flock, then an acceptable offering could be the less-expensive turtledoves or young pigeons.
Some Christians think they should meet their personal desires first and then consider what they will give to God from what is left. This might agree with worldly economics, but it is spiritually unsound. No person is too poor to return 10% of their income to God. Whatever was chosen for the offering was to be the best of its kind, usually a male that was perfect and had no spots or blemishes, this is symbolic to Jesus, our perfect Savior.
The procedure for the burned offering was for the offerer to lay his hands heavily upon the head of the animal, symbolizing the transfer of sin from the guilty to the sinless to atone for his sin. "And he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering; and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him. And he shall kill the bullock before the LORD: and the priests, Aaron's sons, shall bring the blood, and sprinkle the blood round about upon the altar that is by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation." (1:4-5). The blood offered to God indicated that a life had been given as a substitute for the one who had sinned. This act was a foreshadowing of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, who gave Himself as the ultimate sacrifice.
More detail concerning Christ is provided in the Book of Leviticus than in any other Book. This book is mentioned more than 80 times in the New Testament that we might know what Christ has done for us and expects from us in our conduct and worship to please Him. "For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works." (Titus 2:11-14).
Jesus Christ is Revealed: Through the meat (meal, grain) offering which was made without leaven.
"No meat offering, which ye shall bring unto the LORD, shall be made with leaven: for ye shall burn no leaven, nor any honey, in any offering of the LORD made by fire."
Today's Psalm: 96:8
"Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts."
